  1. The Neural Cloud Integration Module, otherwise known as NCIM, is a prototype piece of hardware recovered from 90Wish Safehouse 09, with only one known to exist. In essence, the NCIM allows battlefield Commanders an unparalleled amount of control over the dolls under their command by directly connecting to both the Zener Network and Neural Cloud. It acts as both a receiver and a transponder, enabling Commanders to relay information in real-time without the need for in-person or radio communications.
  2.
  3. In practice, it acts as a pseudo-DigiMind upon integration within the subjects cerebral cortex. Though it lacks the raw processing power that a fully-fledged DigiMind and Core are capable of, it allows Commanders to send and receive information in the same way that Tactical Dolls do. Field Commanders can also, at their discretion, entered 'Level Two' of the DigiMind and perform minor EW tasks. In the case of its successful bonding with 'Hannah,' it had the pleasant side-effect of increasing her mental acuity. She could now process information in a way that was similar to T-Dolls, giving her unparalleled lip-reading abilities. As long as she maintained visual contact on her conversational partner's lips, she could read what they were saying with a near-perfect degree of accuracy.

  6. The Assisted Combat Module is a modular piece of hardware designed after the success of T-Doll-based optical replacement patches, such as those found on M16A1 and Skorpion. Usually, the module interfaces with a chip implanted in the subject's nervous system, restoring their combat effectiveness to near human-like levels.
  7.
  8. In 'Hannah's' case, given the NCIM implanted within her cerebral cortex, the ACM was configured to connect with the prototype technology. The link was a complete success and, after initial testing, it was found that her combat abilities now far exceeded that of a normal human. While not augmenting her speed or physical strength to the levels of a 2nd Generation T-Doll, it affords similar or on-par weapon handling capabilities, acting in a similar manner to the 16Lab developed Imprint System - giving 'Hannah' an near-instinctive sense of her personal weapon at all times.

  11. NICM Test Log: Subject #089
  12.
  13.
  14.
  15. [The audio recording starts to the sound of lightly shifting medical tools.]
  16.
  17. "Audio recording start. Initial activation of the Neural Cloud Integration Module, Subject 089."
  18.
  19. [Footsteps echo away from the recording, stopping moments after they began.]
  20.
  21. "Are you ready, Hannah? Once I send the activation code, there's no way of going back."
  22.
  23. "As if I have anything else to lose. Hit me, doc."
  24.
  25. [There's a short laugh, followed by a door opening and closing. A few seconds later the doctor's voice is heard over a microphone.]
  26.
  27. "Activating the module in three... two... one..."
  28.
  29. [Several seconds stretch by where nothing happens.]
  30.
  31. "Did you turn it on yet? I still don't feel-"
  32.
  33. [Subject 089's words are cut short as an unearthly, high-pitched scream of pain. Through the screaming, which lasts for several minutes, three repeated words can be discerned.]
  34.
  35. "TAKEITOUTTAKEITOUTTAKEITOUTTAKEITOUTTAKEITOUT"
  36.
  37. [Althroughout, Subject 089 is thrashing against her restraints, shaking the metallic table she's strapped to.]
  38.
  39. [...]
  40.
  41. [During the screams, an A-Doll is sent into the room to test the effectiveness of the connection.]
  42.
  43. "A-Doll N-284 could you please allow Subject 089 to connect to your DigiMind?"
  44.
  45. [The doll doesn't immediately respond, and the doctor repeats his order over the microphone.]
  46.
  47. "Sir... please don't make me do that. I can feel her probing at-"
  48.
  49. "That is an order. 284."
  50.
  51. "... Yes sir."
  52.
  53. [Assumedly, the connection is established, and the screaming abruptly stops. It is shortly followed by the A-Doll's screams, who can be heard repeatedly bashing her head into a wall.]
  54.
  55. [The door is hurriedly opened but before site security can stop her, A-Doll N-284 destroyers her head unit. It is later reported that, somehow, her Core was burnt out, and the backups of her Neural Cloud were corrupted beyond repair.]
  56.
  57. [A momentary silence fills the room, broken by a choked sob from Subject 089.]
  58.
  59. "You... you killed her... why did you make her do that...?! I... I couldn't stop myself...! You bastards...!"
  60.
  61. [Subject 089's words are followed by a string of violent threats, directed towards Bureau research personnel, which are interspersed with her fighting against her restraints.]
  62.
  63. "Security, restrain Subject 089 and bring her to her quarters for further monitoring."
  64.
  65. [The threats continue as 'Hannah' is rolled out of the room, her voice trailing off into the distance until only a faint shouting can be heard. Once her screams are silenced completely, footsteps begin to approach the tape recorder.]
  66.
  67. "Activation of the Neural Cloud Integration Module within Subject 089... a complete success. Combat trials to begin tomorrow morning."
  68.
  69. [The tape is then shut off and the recording archived into the National Security Bureau's network.]
