  22. “s7NFP The President: Congratulations on a great vietory. We all
  23. watched from the United States and you did a terrific job. The
  24. way you came from behind, somebody who wasn't given much of a
  25. chance, and you ended up winning easily. It's a fantastic
  26. achievement. Congratulations.
  27.
  28. | epstepepresident Zelenskyy: You are absolutely right Mr.
  29.
  30. President. We did win big and we worked hard for this. We worked
  31. a lot but I would like to confess to you that I had an
  32. opportunity to learn from you. We used quite a few of your
  33. skills and knowledge and were able to use it as an example for
  34. our elections and yes it is. true that these were unique
  35. elections. We were ina unique situation that we were able to

  56. achieve a unique success. I'm able to tell you the following;
  57. the first time, you called me to congratulate me when I won my
  58. presidential election, and the second time you are now calling
  59. me when my party won the parliamentary election. I think T
  60. should run more often so you can call me more often and we can
  61. talk over the phone more often.
  62.
  63. SNF =The President: [laughter] That's a very good idea. I
  64. think your country is very happy about that. |
  65.
  66. wF—President Zelenskyy: Well yes, to tell you the truth, we
  67. are trying to work hard because we wanted to drain the Swamp
  68. here in our country. We brought in many many new people. Not the
  69. old politicians, not the typical politicians, because we want to
  70. have a new format and a new type of government . You are a great
  71. teacher for us and in that.
  72.
  73.
  74.
  75. S75) The President: Well it's very nice of you to say that. I
  76. will say that we do a lot for Ukraine. We spend a lot of effort
  77. anda lot of time. Much more than the European countries are
  78. doing and they should be helping you more than they are. Germany
  79. does almost nothing for you. All they do is talk and I think
  80. it's something that you should really ask them about. When I was.
  81. speaking to Angela Merkel she talks Ukraine, but she doesn't do
  82. anything. A lot of the Furopean countries are the same way so I
  83. think it's something you want to look at but the United States
  84. has been very very good to Ukraine. I wouldn't say that it's
  85. reciprocal necessarily because things are happening that are not
  86. good but the United States has been very very good to Ukraine.
  87.
  88. +378 President Zelenskyy: Yes you are absolutely right. Not.
  89.
  90. only 100%, but actually 1000% and I can tell you the following;
  91.
  92. I did talk to Angela Merkel and I did meet with her. I also met
  93.
  94. and talked with Macron and I told them that they are not doing
  95.
  96. quite as much as they need to be doing on the issues with the
  97. sanctions. They are not enforcing the sanctions. They are not
  98.
  99. working as much as they should work for Ukraine. It turns out
  100.
  101. that even though logically, the European Union should be our
  102.
  103. biggest: partner but technically the United States is a much |
  104.
  105. bigger partner than the European Union and I'm very grateful to
  106.
  107. you for that because the United States is doing quite a lot for
  108. Ukraine. Much more than the European Union especially when we
  109.
  110. are talking about sanctions against the Russian Federation. I
  111.
  112. would also like to thank you for your great support in the area 7
  113. of defense. We are ready to continue to cooperate for the next
  114. steps specifically we are almost ready to buy more Javelins from
  115.
  116. _ the United States for defense purposes.

  127. eam, The President: I would like you to do us a favor though ~
  128. _ because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a
  129. lot about it. I would like you to find out what happened with
  130. this whole situation with Ukraine, they say Crowdstrike... I guess
  131. you have one of your wealthy people... The server, they say
  132. Ukraine has it. There are a lot of things that went on, the
  133. whole situation. I think you’re Surrounding yourself with some
  134. of the same people. I would like to have the Attorney General
  135. call you or your people and I would like you to get to the
  136. bottom of it. As you saw yesterday, that whole nonsense ended
  137. with a very poor performance by a man named Robert Mueller, an
  138. incompetent performance, but they say a lot of it started with
  139. Ukraine. Whatever you can do, it's very important that you do it
  140. if that's possible. ma
  141.
  142. earemre President Zelenskyy: Yes it is very important for me and
  143.
  144. everything that you just mentioned earlier. For me as a
  145. President, it is very important and we are open for any future
  146. cooperation. We are ready to open a new page on cooperation in
  147. relations between the United States and Ukraine. For that
  148. purpose, I just recalled our ambassador from United States and
  149. he will be replaced by a very competent and very experienced
  150. ambassador who will work hard on making sure that our two |
  151. nations are getting closer. I would also like and hope to see
  152. him having your trust and your confidence and have personal
  153. relations with you so we can cooperate even more so. I will
  154. personally tell you that one of my assistants spoke with Mr.
  155. Giuliani just recently and we are hoping very much that Mr.
  156. Giuliani will be able to travel to Ukraine and we will meet once
  157. he comes to Ukraine. I just wanted to assure you once again that
  158. you have nobody but friends around us. I will make sure that I _
  159. surround myself with the best and most experienced people. I
  160. also wanted to tell you that we are friends. We are great
  161. friends and you Mr. President have friends in our country so we
  162. can continue our strategic partnership. I also plan to surround
  163. myself with great people and in addition to that investigation,
  164. I guarantee as thé President of Ukraine that all the ©
  165. investigations. will be done openly and candidly. That I can
  166. assure you.
  167.
  168. totem The President: Good because I heard you had a shodeuivor
  169. who was very good and he was shut down and that's really unfair.
  170. A lot of people are talking about that, the way they shut your
  171. very good prosecutor down and you had some very bad people
  172. involved. Mr. Giuliani is a highly respected man. He was the
  173. mayor of New York City, a great mayor, and I would like him to

  181. call you. I will ask him to call you slong with the Attorney’
  182. General. Rudy very much knows what's happening and he isa very
  183. capable guy. If you could speak to him that would be great. The
  184. former ambassador from the United States, the woman, was bad
  185. - news and the people she was dealing with in the Ukraine were bad
  186. news. so I just want to let you know that. The other thing,
  187. There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the
  188. prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so
  189. whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great.
  190. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution SO if
  191. you can Look into it... It sounds horrible to me.
  192.
  193. (STR President Jalénakyy: T wanted to tell you about the ©
  194.
  195. prosecutor. First of all I understand and I'm knowledgeable
  196. about the Situation. Since we have won the absolute majority in
  197. our Parliament, the next prosecutor general will be 100% my
  198. person, my candidate, who will be approved by the parliament and
  199. will start as a new prosecutor in September. He or she will look
  200. into the situation, specifically to the company that you
  201. mentioned in this issue. The issue of the investigation of the
  202. case is actually the issue of making sure to restore the honesty
  203. So we will take care of that and will work on the investigation ©
  204. of the case. On top of that, I would kindly ask you if you have
  205. any additional information that you can provide to us, it would.
  206. be very helpful for the investigation . to make sure that we
  207. administer justice in our country with regard to the Ambassador
  208. to the United States from Ukraine as far as I recall her name
  209. was Ivanovich. It was great that you were the first one who told
  210. me that she was a bad ambassador because I agree with you 100%.
  211.
  212. _ Her attitude towards me was far from the best as she admired the
  213.
  214. previous President and she was on his side. She would not accept
  215. me as a new President well enous | :
  216.
  217. (0) The President: Well, ‘ehel Ss going to go cierough some —
  218. things. I will have Mr.-Giuliani give you a call and I am also
  219. going to have Attorney General Barr call and we will get to the
  220. bottom of it. I'm sure you will figure it out. I heard the
  221. prosecutor was treated very badly and he was a very fair
  222. prosecutor so good luck with everything. Your economy 1s going
  223. to get better and better I predict. You have a lot of assets.
  224. It's a great country. I have many Ukrainian friends, their >
  225.
  226. incredible people.
  227.
  228. ~s7—President Zelenskyy: I would like to tell you that I also
  229. have quite a few Ukrainian friends that live in the United
  230. States. Actually last time I traveled to the United States, I
  231. stayed in New York near Central Park and I stayed at. the Trump

  241. the United States, specifically Washington DC. On the other
  242. hand, I also want to ensure you that we will be very serious
  243. about the case and will work on the investigation. As to the
  244. economy, there is much potential for our two countries and one
  245. of the issues that is very important for Ukraine is energy
  246. independence. I believe we can be very successful and
  247. cooperating on energy independence with United States. We are
  248. already working on cooperation. We are buying American oil but I
  249. am very hopeful for a future meeting. We will have more time and
  250. -more opportunities to discuss these opportunities and get to |
  251. know each other better. I would like to thank you very much for
  252.
  253. your support
  254.
  255. (att The President: Good. Well, thank you very much and I.
  256. appreciate that. I will tell Rudy and Attorney General Barr to |

  262.
  263. happy to come and would be happy to meet with you personally and
  264. get to know you better. I am looking forward to our meeting and —
  265. I also would like to invite you to visit Ukraine and come to the
  266. city of Kyiv which is a beautiful city. We have a beautiful
  267. country which would welcome you. On the other hand, I believe
  268. that on September 1 we will be in Poland and we can meet in
  269. Poland hopefully. After that, it might be a very good idea for
  270. you to travel to Ukraine. We can either take my plane and go to
  271. Ukraine or we can take your plane, which is probably much better
  272. than mine.
  273.
  274. (SANE The President: Okay, we can work that out. I look forward
  275. to seeing you in Washington and maybe in Poland because I think
  276. we are going to be there at that time. |
