Rant of the Day:
Here's whats wrong with google books and 99%(*) of all eReader apps out there :
"Google Books' detail view is all about replicating the experience of reading an actual book". (**)
eReaders (hardware/app) are not books. they can not be. but instead of accepting that and innovating on the paradigm shift, everybody tries to simulate dead trees.

we are not reading books, but we are reading texts. books just happen to have been the best shippable format of texts in the last ~600 years or so.
no one (except some collectors) buys a book because it's a book, but because of the story. so throw away your page turn animations, book shelve like listviews, rectangle shaped cover images,... and think about what you can actually do with text.
