If we want to become guards against violent mobs, we should recognize past efforts that can help us review what might be at stake, and what should be expected of us.

Meet Benjamin Fodor, aka “Phoenix Jones” and the Rain City Superhero Movement.

He is/was a self-titled superhero who routinely patrols the Seattle metro during busy nights. He is trained in combat and has had partners that perfected in EMT practices. He is a paid MMA fighter, he has sets of videos in youtube where he does 12 mile runs, +500 lb leg presses, cage fights with other MMA fighters, and where he is in superhero action. He cooperates with Seattle police, and abides by all  city laws. Although he has been arrested before, they have a symbiotic relationship.

There are two videos that catch my attention when it comes to this server, because I believe it can help us in the long run if we ever do meet up physically. I won't go into too much detail over these videos, I don't want to create a longer wall of text.


\/ Here he is in full uniform doing sparring routines with his partners through 5 minute intervals, the average police response time in Seattle. This was recorded in 2012, and he has had other more useful videos which have by now been taken down. In one of his videos, he outlines the strict requirements needed to join his team, which were: you need to pass USMC training standards,  you need CPR/EMT and/or First Aid knowledge, you need to have full knowledge of the limitations in Seattle city laws, and you need a professional degree (black belt) of combat knowledge, all of which are/were tested in that dinky parking garage.

\/ MAYDAY PROTESTS: The video below was recorded in May 1st, 2012, the date of the MayDay protests in Seattle conducted by left wing Occupy Protesters and Blac Bloc Anarchists. In the video the Blac Bloc are shown throwing rocks, setting smoke bombs, and vandalizing by the U.S. courthouse. There were threats that the main entrance was going to be bombed. By 0:37 if you focus by the opening space in front of the crowd, you will notice a Black/Yellow masked man (Phoenix Jones) holding a canister backing off of a smoke bomb, and later in 0:50 another two men, one with his face half exposed clearing the area, and the other one masked in full black (Midnight Jack) also holding a canister, patrolling the area. By 0:52 a rock almost hits Midnight Jack, and in response he pepper sprays the rioters surrounding him. Then there's another clip of Blac Bloc vandalizing a retail store left unsupervized, being cheered by the protesters. The difference 3 men can make is atsounding.

The last video also shows that the riot police, by design, can't be in all places at once. It is our job to secure the buildings and the people surrounding the area for safety's sake. Here's to a new peaceful movement.
