  1. Interviewer: Since the theme of the interview is "Let's laugh at Hinatazaka" (Hinatazaka de Waraimashou), first off I would like for us to find out the rooted reasons behind Kato-san's laughter. By the way, Sasaki Kumi previously mentioned that back during high school, getting caked on the face during your birthday is something of a natural occurence.
  2.
  3. Katoshi: Ah, actually me too! Back in school getting caked in the face when it's your birthday is just something that happens. They would smack all kinds of stuff on your face when it's your birthday back in my school too... but thing is, I can't stand whipped cream so my friends would smack tofu onto my face instead. And then I would wash my face and come back to my friends only to get things on my face again and again, and we would all break into lots of laughter - this is how it went every time. But the thing is, I personally think I'm not funny as a person. I didn't know much about comedians and varieties in general, so I thought I was a relatively normal girl. But becoming an idol, I realized that maybe I was a weirdo after all... I guess that's how I could make people laugh (lol).
  4.
  5. Interviewer: You don't really watch variety shows? That is quite surprising.
  6.
  7. Katoshi: Most probably because as a kid, I was given the freedom to a certain extent when it comes to watching TV shows and playing games, so growing up, I grew less attached to those media now since I've had plenty as a kid... I guess I just stopped watching that much TV at some point. But there were some TV shows that became left a significant impact on me, "Bakushou Red Carpet" and "Pikaru Theorem". I really liked the surreal kind and acrobatic kind of humor. Even now I still feel the same towards those shows
  8.
  9. Interviewer: I see. But in the show, whenever Audrey's prompting members to talk by starting a topic, you'd be the first to raise your hand - what started this?
  10.
  11. Katoshi: We're a group of girls, so if no one starts it first, it's hard for the others to join in. That's what I've had in mind since the start of Hiragana Oshi and why I've been taking up the proactive role of making sure I raise my hand. During the recording of HinaAi too, it'd trouble everyone else involved if the studio ends up in an awkward silence when Wakabayashi-san and Kasuga-san throw us a question, so I have it drilled in my head that whatever it may be, what's important is that I need to raise my hand. I'm not the type to say anything particularly funny, so I thought at the very least, I want to take up the role who bridges the gap in-between.
  12.
  13. Interviewer: So you do have a reasoning for it...
  14.
  15. Katoshi: Furthermore, I think there might be quite a lot of people who take an interest in us after watching Hinatazaka de Aimashou, so I thought I should get myself on it as much as possible since I think my fans would be happy too, so I feel like - even for a single second, I try my best to get a footage of myself too, and this resulted in me getting the title "Queen of Getting Her Scenes Cut" (lol). BUT, I take pride in getting that title. I feel like I've come full circle since then.
  16.
  17. Interviewer: True that. In a similar note, the show fully-blossomed each member's peculiar "character" too.
  18.
  19. Katoshi: Moreover, each member has a chara that differs from another and I mean this in a good sense. Ah, but lately the group's jam-packed with burikkos (lol), but even so it somehow made things funny, and even with the similar "character", ultimately everyone has their own personality that's largely different from the next person, so I really love how as a group we each complement each other. As a group, we make sure to give our utmost best into this production - perhaps ultimately because we want Audrey-san to laugh at us, too.
  20.
  21. Interviewer: Kumi-san also said something similar.
  22.
  23. Katoshi: I think, if Wakabayashi-san and Audrey-san were to read this coverage of us, they themselves would be taken aback at how we all actually love them. That's why so that the recording could be fun for them too, we would try our best so that Audrey-san can come around to like us too.
  24.
  25. Interview: I see, so there's the "love" aspect to it. By the way, if you were to choose, who is the member who has broken out of their shell the most since the start of the show?
  26.
  27. Katoshi: Lately, I think the person who's been shining through is Ushio Sarina. I think Kasuga-san has taken a liking to her too, saying "Ushio-kun is funny, huh" quite often. At first she was the type who didn't really want to get herself out there, but lately she's been much livelier, seeing Naccho chatting happily makes me really happy for some reason. Furthermore, it's not just during the recording for our show; she'd use that tool that makes sure your voice doesn't get too loud but even then she'd talk so excitedly you can hear her voice loud and clear from outside (lol). That part of her is both cute and funny. But that aside, what I find amazing is that the members weren't even purposefully aiming for their character or anything. I think everyone was genuinely having fun with the show in general, that the laughter and our responses just come out naturally as they are. One thing that we've learned from the past 3 years is that, the more we *try* too hard to make things funny, the less fun things will turn out.
  28.
  29. Interview: So you learn from experience. Then, what is the one thing that makes you crack up the most out of each of the other featured members of this interview?
  30.
  31. Katoshi: For Kumi, it's her entire existence, really. Maybe due to the similar environment we grew up in, and I think our parents are kind of similar. My parents are similar to her, except without the strictness (lol), Kumi's upbringing made her a person who would properly put in effort into her study, a much more disciplined version of my upbringing. I think because of the similarity that I said before, our sense of humor and such are pretty similar too. When Kumi laughs at something, I'd laugh at it too.

  33. Suzu-chan is... well, rather than something that makes me laugh, I find the way she's always earnest in everything she does to be really impressive. Every time we have a recording for HinaAi, she'd always try her hardest to leave a mark at every episode, perhaps because at the core of it, she's a really serious, committed person. It was kind of touching to me when she cried because Kasuga-san didn't pick on her in that one episode - I was moved by how strongly she put her mind into the show. Also, she has an unexpectedly silly side to her too, but even so she's a person who gives everything she's got into things she does, and the efforts she put makes her very endearing to me.
  34.
  35. And then, Kono-chan too is a person that I'm really impressed with. She's a hardworker to the bone. Something that surprised me about her that I only recently gotten to know of is that she's a regular listener of Rekomen. I knew she's always been someone who likes radio shows, but to know that she even tunes in to Rekomen regularly like that is amazing to me. I was also deeply impressed at the dedication she put into studying up on Kinnikuman for that time we did a special episode on Kinnikuman.
  36.
  37. Interviewer: What started out as a question about things that make you crack up ended up as a talk about what you're impressed the most out of them... (lol). When you can finally do a recording for the show where every member can be in the studio, what would you like to do in the show?
  38.
  39. Katoshi: Hmmm I wonder... maybe if we can all be in the studio and by that time it's still the summer season, I want us to do a summer-y episode where we can wear yukata and stuff. HinaAi has never had any episode where we have something like a summer festival. Maybe we can get Audrey-san to wear yukata too to get further into the mood. But eh......... HinaAi is ESPECIALLY geared towards comedy so I just know we'd end up doing oogiri someway, somehow. Thinking about it we sure do a LOT of oogiri for what's supposedly an idol show (lol).
