  1. Akurei: Alright everyone. I know there have been a lot of questions as to what loot system we are using and what it will be about. I will do my best to explain the entire system and hopefully answer any questions that may arise. I ask that you please read the entire post to completely understand the system. Please note: this system favors raids that focus on gearing the entire group, versus gearing a single person.
  2. [11:19 PM] Akurei: ----------
  3.
  4. [11:19 PM] Akurei: I will start by explaining the two main components of the loot system: Suicide Kings and DKP. While many of you will be familiar with DKP, where players earn points for various raid activities, Suicide Kings is less known. The way SK works is each player will roll twice before the first raid for the week. The first roll is for that player’s class and the second is for that player’s role (tanks, healers, physical DPS, caster DPS). Each player is ranked according to their roll from highest to lowest roll in each category. When a piece of loot drops for that specific class (like tier, Hunter Leaf, Priest Eye, etc.), the person at the top of the list gets to choose if he or she wants the loot. If they take it, they immediately get moved to the bottom of that list. If they pass, the next person in line gets to decide if he or she wants it. If they take it, then they move to the bottom and the person who initially passed retains their position at the head of the line. This continues until someone claims the loot or the person at the bottom of the list automatically gets it.
  5.
  6. [11:19 PM] Akurei: So to be clear, if a person takes a piece of loot, they get moved to the bottom position in that respective queue. Taking a piece of loot in one line does NOT affect your position in the other line. The second roll, for your role position, is for any loot that you would share with another class (e.g. Warlocks, Mages, Shadow Priests, Elemental Shamans would share some cloaks, rings, necklaces, and trinkets, among other things). This line will obviously be longer than the class-specific one, but you would be rolling against all those other people anyway if we did not have this system. The upside to using SK is that it’s fair for everyone in terms of leaving it up to RNG and it spreads the loot out more evenly in the raid instead of one person getting a bunch of good rolls and become super geared while the rest are left in the dust. The downside is that it doesn’t reward dedication to the guild/raid, which leads me to the DKP portion of our system.
  7.
  8. [11:19 PM] Akurei: ----------
  9.
  10. [11:19 PM] Akurei: We will be earning DKP through various methods within the raid. We have decided that DKP will initially be earned for the following: Being on time for raid, Every hour spent in the raid, and Every boss killed. We may add other methods to earn points later, but we would like to test this amount first. Each of these methods earns raiders exactly 1 point for every task completed. To put it into perspective, our Sunday raid with <AFK> ran for 4 hours and everyone was in raid before the designated start time. We killed 8 bosses. 1+4+8=13 points earned if we were using this system on that night, and that isn’t even considering the rest of the MC clear. Here is how we will be using those points: Beginning the week AFTER they are earned, your DKP can be spent to increase your SK roll in either category on a 1:1 ratio.
  11.
  12. [11:20 PM] Akurei: Because we don’t want to clutter raid with 80 roles every week and then manage DKP spending, there is a new channel in Discord specifically for rolling dice. The command for this is !2d100. The first number will represent your class roll and the second will be for your role. Everyone will have between Friday at 12 AM (or after the final raid for the week ends, whichever is later) and Tuesday at 7:15PM to submit their rolls in the Discord channel labeled #weekly-rolls-a. This gives everyone over 4.5 days to get their rolls in and see what their competitors are rolling. If you choose to spend DKP to increase your roll, please let the officers know by posting in the #dkp-discussion-a channel how much you would like to spend and on which roll. This must also be concluded by 7:15PM on Tuesday. Please note that you may increase your roll for either or both of your categories, but you may only increase your roll TWICE in each category per week.
  13.
  14. [11:20 PM] Akurei: There will also be a cap to how high your “roll” can actually get and we have decided to make that 120 at this time. I will provide examples below to make everything clear, but I wanted to explain our thought process behind all of this. First, by allowing players to earn points to increase their SK rolls, it rewards participation in the raid. Secondly, by allowing rolls to exceed 100, a new person can’t roll a natural 100 and immediately be in first place. I would like our veterans to at least have a shot at putting themselves above the newbie. The reason the cap isn’t much higher than 100 is because I wanted to encourage people to actually use the system instead of hoarding several hundred points and then having a crazy roll like a 400 one week.
  15.
  16. [11:20 PM] Akurei: ----------
  17.
  18. [11:20 PM] Akurei: Now, I would like to address a few of the finer details:
  19. 1) In the event of a tie, the players involved will have numbers assigned to them and the officer in charge of loot will do a random roll and rank those players based on that roll. DKP can NOT be spent on the tiebreaker, but all DKP used to achieve the tie will be gone, as it still ensures that you beat other people.
  20. 2) If DKP is spent and NOTHING drops for that category (And I do mean NOTHING, whether it was tier or shared loot), that DKP will be refunded at the end of the week for all players involved. An example would be Warlocks spending DKP and then zero Warlock tier drops, those Warlocks who spent DKP on their rolls would be refunded only for the class category. Now looking at the other category, if a Warlock spent DKP for the role list and made it to third in line and the only piece of shared loot that drops all week is a single caster DPS cloak and nothing else, then that DKP is lost, even if that Warlock didn’t get a chance to take the cloak due to the first place person taking it. I know that may seem unfair, but we have to draw the line somewhere and I believe it is more than fair to have the DKP refunded in the event that not a single piece drops. The same rule will apply if someone spends DKP and has everything that drops from that category.
  21. 3) Weapons are excluded from this loot system due to their importance for physical DPS and we don’t want people passing on good armor just because they are holding out for a good weapon drop. With that said, there will be some limitations. First, only one weapon per raider per week. We will allow rolling for weapons when they drop on a Need before Greed basis, but within obvious reason (tanks won’t roll on DPS gear, hunters won’t take obvious rogue weapons, casters won’t take healing staves, etc.). Also, players must have attended two full raid weeks as their current spec to be eligible to roll for ALL GEAR, unless everyone else passes.
  22.
  23. [11:20 PM] Akurei: 4) Legendaries are also excluded from the loot system. Obviously, the first two Thunderfurys will go to main tanks. Since Sulfuras is not very good for PvE, it will not be reserved. With that said, legendaries will be handled on a case-by-case basis, putting the needs of the raid above all else.
  24. 5) Profession patterns/recipes/plans will initially go to the most senior member of the guild who can learn them. Once a pattern has been learned, however, we will allow free rolls for any subsequent identical pattern for raiders who can learn them.
  25. 6) BoE’s and patterns must be equipped/used immediately. Failure to do so will result in a kick from the raid and a ban from all future raids.
  26. 7) I understand that not all tier will benefit certain classes/specs, particularly DPS Warriors, Shadow Priests, and Feral Druids. That’s just how the game is at this point. So while this loot system won’t work for some people, the majority of us should benefit greatly from it.
  27.
  28. [11:20 PM] Akurei: 8) IF YOU DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR ROLL BY THE CUTOFF TIME, YOU WILL BE PLACED AT THE BOTTOM OF BOTH LISTS FOR THAT WEEK WITH NO OPPORTUNITY TO SPEND DKP. This also applies to people who come on the second night of the week, but miss the first. If you do not come to the first raid, you cannot jump ahead of people who are here for both nights. If you spent DKP before Tuesday and then an emergency forced you to miss raid, partner with the loot officer to discuss your DKP. If multiple people are placed "at the bottom" due to any of these reasons, they will be randomly assigned an order at the bottom of both of their lists.
  29.
  30. [11:21 PM] Akurei: ----------
  31.
  32. [11:21 PM] Akurei: Lastly, I would like to provide a few examples of how the system will work. Daedrin rolls (34,75). Himeal rolls (56,10). Bakasumi rolls (97,39). Daedrin and Himeal are both DPS Warriors for this example and Bakasumi is a Rogue. Looking at the first number, Himeal is above Daedrin in the pecking order due to them both being the same class, but do not compete with Bakasumi in that category. If a piece of Warrior-specific gear drops, Himeal would have first priority. If he takes it, he is now below Daedrin and all other Warriors. If he passes, the next Warrior in line (in this case, Daedrin) would be allowed to choose if he wants it, and so on. Now, pretend that a trinket drops that has melee hit rating and melee crit. For items that belong to multiple classes, we use the second number. For this trinket, the order is Daedrin, then Bakasumi, then Himeal. If Daedrin takes the trinket, Bakasumi is now first and Himeal is second in the order. If Daedrin passes but Bakasumi takes it, the new order is Daedrin, Himeal, Bakasumi.
  33.
  34. [11:21 PM] Akurei: Here is an example of how DKP would be spent. A Warlock rolls (52,98) and a Mage rolls (14,75). Since they share the second number in a lot of cases, the Warlock is basically ahead of the Mage for anything that isn’t frost or fire damage. Before Tuesday’s raid, the Mage decides to spend 24 DKP on the second number, giving them a 99 (75+24). Now the Warlock is in second place. The Warlock spends 2 DKP to now have a 100 (98+2) to beat the Mage. Please note that both players have now spent DKP once each and we have a limit of two DKP uses per roll, per week, so now each player may only add DKP once more to their second number (the first number is still safe to use DKP on in this scenario). Now the Mage decides to just beat the Warlock outright and add 21 more DKP to their roll, giving the Mage a 120, which is the cap. Still wanting to compete, the Warlock adds 20 to their role to tie them both at 120. In this scenario, these are the only two players at 120 for caster DPS. The loot officer would assign both player a position, in this case Mage first and Warlock second. The officer would then roll two dice and the first number would be for the Mage, while the second would be for the Warlock. Whomever has the highest roll would be first in the pecking order for shared loot. The second placed person would be second in the order, while all the other people who share loot with them would still retain their order since they all had less than 120. The Mage would lose 45 DKP and the Warlock would lose 22 DKP.
  35.
  36. [11:21 PM] Akurei: ----------
  37.
  38. [11:21 PM] Akurei: I will continue to refine these rules as we polish the loot system, but the basis for the system is in place. Everyone’s rolls and place in line will be made available on a Google Doc every week that will be viewable to all raid members. It will also be updated as DKP gets spent on rolls. We want to be as transparent as we can with all of the raiders, which is why all rolls and DKP discussion will be in public channels. As always, suggestions for improvement are both necessary and welcome. Thank you for being here!
  39.
  40. [12:45 AM] Akurei: 9) For the sake of the system, all plate is considered in the "Warrior" category, but specs are still taken into account. Mail with +healing is considered to be in the "Shaman" category, as well as shields with mana per 5, healing, or spell power. This also applies to gear that was intended for specific classes without being mentioned as such (leather gloves that have dagger skill, cloth boots that have frost damage, etc.) If it is blatantly obvious what class Blizzard intended to use that gear, then that gear will be considered for "class" instead of "role."
  41.
  42. [6:47 PM] Akurei: 10) BoE tier epics will also be part of the loot system and must be equipped immediately upon receipt. Any unclaimed BoE epics will be sold by the guild bank and the profits will be used to fund crafted gear and consumables for the raid. BoE blues will also be sold for the same purposes. BoE greens will be disenchanted.
  43.
  44. [8:20 PM] Akurei: 11) Core Leather and Dark Iron Ore will be sent to the guild bank to craft fire resistance gear, along with the Lava Cores and Fiery Cores. The same applies to Onyxia Scales, which can now be used to craft Onyxia Scale Cloaks from Bakasumi and Kwikill (and are necessary for BWL).
  45.
  46. [1:28 PM] Akurei: 12) Gear that will primarily be used for PvP is considered Offspec for the sake of the loot system. My goal is to have AQ and Naxx on farm and that means optimizing the raid to the best of our ability.
  47.
  48. [4:35 AM] Akurei: 13) Missing 2 consecutive raids without posting your absence in the #missing-raid-a channel will result in a removal from the team. Additionally, missing 3 total raids without posting in that channel ahead of time will have the same result. If there are extenuating circumstances that need to be addressed with me directly, we will handle those on a case-by-case basis. We are starting everyone with a clean slate for 2020, so nothing before this year will count against anyone. "No call, no shows" are now being tracked in the loot system spreadsheet.
  49.
  50. [9:26 PM] Akurei: 14) There will be strict Fire Resistance rules going into BWL. For now, Tanks are expected to have 200, Rogues 150, and everyone else should have 100. Without the necessary resistance gear, you will not be allowed to raid.
  51.
  52. [11:54 PM] Akurei: 15) Starting 2/18/20, no more refunds will be issued due to items not dropping. Players should weigh the risks and rewards of spending DKP prior to posting in the #dkp-discussion-a channel.
  53.
  54. [12:15 AM] Akurei: 16) Starting immediately, calling out of raid after midnight the DAY OF raid will result in a DKP loss of 10 DKP from your account. Calling out of raid after noon the day of raid will result in an additional 5 DKP loss from your account, for a maximum loss of 15 DKP. This will apply to both raid nights for the week. We will make some exceptions on a case-by-case basis but will also be looking for patterns of behavior from people who call out consistently.
