49. The crew of the USS Enterprise explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a new ruthless enemy, who puts them, and everything the Federation stands for, to the test.
 50. After stopping off at Starbase Yorktown, a remote outpost on the fringes of Federation space, the USS Enterprise, halfway into their five-year mission, is destroyed by an unstoppable wave of unknown aliens. With the crew stranded on an unknown planet and with no apparent means of rescue, they find themselves fighting against a ruthless enemy with a well-earned hatred of the Federation and everything it stands for. Only a rebellious alien warrior can help them reunite and leave the planet to stop this deadly menace from beginning a possible galactic war.
 51. My deepest apologies for the lack of grammar and prompting structure.

Sci Fi and Fantasy are my favorite genres, movies/TV- shows/books/communities. I stopped watching trailers and reading previews many years ago because they tended to spoil the good parts and cinemas tended to repeat them a lot before the movie started, the positive is that I have little to no expectations which makes my movie experience really good/bad/average depending on the quality of the movie.

I judge the films based on the following areas, Q: Is the story good? Does it fit in the genre, is it connected to the previous movies/TV-shows? A: There are one major story regarding junior James T. Kirk, a side story that wraps it up SPOILER! Frankling, and two minor stories regarding Spook and Jaylah. Overall I think they are good, adds several elements that feeds a wide spectrum.

Q: How did the actors/actresses preformed? Do I connect with them? A: There are plenty of brilliant people in this movie both minor and major characters but they did there part all from humor, compassion, nostalgia and some excitement.

Q: What feelings do the music give me and is it supposed to be this feeling in scenario x? A: As stated by other reviews, the music was used correctly and I think my senses reacted as it was suppose to do.

Q: Do the time fly by or did it feel like I have been here for hours? A: For me, those two hours felt like a normal 30-45 min episode so good job on that part.

So what do the movie lack? Well it felt like each species encountered had more or less no background story, Simon Pegg proved once again the difference between actors and play-actors. The movie have plenty of human reactions walking on a thin line to cross over to drama. Sofia Boutella character Jaylah was mysterious for 3-6 min in the movie and suddenly "it" was once of us, more character development please. All of Krall's followers were they human or mixed species?

I believe 8 out of 10 is a fair score for this movie.
 52. I'm relieved that this movie doesn't follow the thread of the originals (with Shatner et al). While the second movies both had Khan as the main protagonist this movie goes its own way. This is good because Search for Spock was a stinker. I'm also pleased that they haven't rushed out a movie every two years. They did that with the first series of films and every other one was a turkey.

Simon Pegg (co writer) gives his character a larger part than Scottie ever had before. Also not surprisingly he injects more comedy into it, but not in a bad way and this isn't one of the 'funny' stories that we used to get with the TV series.

So that means this is good? Yes this is very good. The poor old Enterprise gets beaten up (again) and another despot reveals his despicable plans to make war on the universe. Our heroes are of course on the case.

Good humour and proper "trekie" action.
 53. Star Trek Beyond might be the Star Trekkiest film of the new, J.J. Abrams–ified Trek era. That is to say, it's the one that feels the most like a turbo-loaded episode of the original series, and has at least some of that classic spirit of exploration and derring-do.
 54. Source. In story terms, it seems most likely that Carol Marcus has left the Enterprise for unknown reasons prior to the events of Beyond. The adversary Krall is ultimately identified as a deformed Balthazer M. Edison, captain of the U.S.S. Franklin, a ship that, according to Scotty, disappeared without a trace in 2164, shortly after the foundation of the Federation of Planets. Krall/Edison is also identified as a former M.A.C.O. (Starfleet Marines), and mentions fighting during the Xindi War (2153-2154) as well as the Romulan-Earth Wars (2156-2160). Especially the mentioning of the Xindi War is interesting, because this places him directly on board the Enterprise NX-01, during the events of the third season of Enterprise (2001). He later states that he became disillusioned when the Federation was founded, and there was no apparent need for soldiers anymore. He received command of the U.S.S. Franklin in recognition of his services for Starfleet, and later disappeared. Some viewers have noted that this does not seem to fit in the official Star Trek timeline. If Edison received command of a ship after the Romulan Wars, how could it be a warp 4 ship? By the time the wars had ended, the Enterprise NX-01 and the Columbia NX-02 had already been flying with warp 5 engines for many years. So this is a potential error on the part of the writers of Star Trek Beyond.

However, there is a fitting explanation for this. According to the Star Trek timeline, warp 2.5 was achieved in 2142, and warp 3 in 2145. Since we know that the Enterprise NX-01 launched with an experimental warp 5 engine in 2151, the prototype warp-4 vessel U.S.S. Franklin must have been built somewhere in the late 2140s. This is sustained by several other observations: the ship is very close in design and size to the Enterprise NX-02 (relatively flat with the nacelles almost directly attached to the saucer section), it has transporters that were only used for cargo (Enterprise NX-01 was the first with a transporter that could also transport humans), and it still has conventional torpedoes for weapons (Enterprise NX-01 started out with these, but soon switched to photon torpedoes). So the U.S.S. Franklin must have been used as a cargo ship long before Edison received command of it. By that time, it must have been at least 11 years old, capable of only warp 4 and without transporters for personal transfer. Since Edison was already upset about losing his job as a MACO, being offered an obsolete ship may have added to his frustration. a5c7b9f00b
