  1. Now I'd like to talk about what this game achieves which might be hard over text and I've failed to explain it to other people before but here goes.
  2. It's a means to an end for a true challenging automation game. All around me I see games like factorio, modded minecraft, and sastifactory. The more I play those games the more I realize they are about managing and moving around resources, not about creating the tools to do it. You will simply create a machine magically out of resources that will do a process (like smelting) for you. I look back to when I was a kid playing with legos and making lego candy machines, I would combine several systems to create a mechanism. A smooth block here with a box containing a coin on top, the coin would fall through if it wasn't the right size, if it was it would lift a lever allowing it to be pushed forward, eventually pushing a small candy over a hole that it could fall through. My goal is to create small pieces with emergent attributes that allow the player to create a solution to their own puzzle. As an example, lets say you wanted to melt an ore and pour it into a cast. Instead of simply placing the ore into a machine, you would have to load it onto a moving piece (such as a conveyor belt) that would fall into a container which would later on go into a heated room to melt into liquid ore, coming out the other side ready to be poured into a cast. You would have to create this system yourself with minimal already in-game tools and mechanics. A great example of this is Infinifactory, a game by Zachotronics, who also created the game that inspired Minecraft, and many amazing puzzle games. You can see an example in this video: https://youtu.be/AZloBE1Sv1Y?t=9. Where this game falls short is that its a creative game, with arbitrary parts you make, and has artificial goals. I think that we could add indepth systems like mining, exploration, overall world gen, and other interesting aspects.

  4. In conclusion, I want to create a game that conveys the same feeling of satisfaction and creation that legos gave me as a kid. I want the feeling of your own almost 'robots', gears, levers, pulleys, creating something to be in a game. I also think that factory games generally focus on the wrong ideas and lack what I value. The creativity and exploration that legos provided to many people as kids seems to be absent from games today. These are the things that motivate me to make this game, hopefully I didn't over explain and was clear.
