  1. “By Thor, warder of man, I bid thee leave or die!” the captain of the guard called out, raising his sword in defiance. From where he stood in the ranks. Kjell didn’t think the giant took it seriously. She was wearing a smarmy grin on her warpainted face. Hide and leather clothing a haphazard affair as she stood at the edge of town. Her blue skin showing through in spots, platinum blonde hair blowing in the wind.
  2.
  3. “I will die before I leave. Your fate is yours to choose.” she answered. Sonorous voice rushing across them as she stepped forward with a rumbling thoom. She didn’t wait for an answer, and her next step carried her shin through a house, sending the debris crashing into the next. Some spiraling up into the air.
  4.
  5. “Loose!” the captain called. Kjell didn’t need to be told twice, the bow he held drawn and fired. He lost sight of his arrow in the mass of them that sailed forward, pinpricks of red spreading across the giants exposed skin, where other arrows simply stuck into her clothing.
  6.
  7. A hiss of pain escaped her and she knelt down. Crashing and splintering, and when next she stood she held the roof of a longhouse, crumbling though it was, as a makeshift shield.
  8.
  9. “Spread!” The order given, the guards began to scatter. Taking potshots at the invader, and refuge amongst the buildings. She responded by picking out another roof to hurl. Splintering and crashing down the main street. Kjell watched two men get caught as it came to a stop, knocked from their feet and senses.
  10.
  11. With the group nearest him he ran. Taking to the side streets and biding their time. Letting loose when the she-titan’s attention was elsewhere. They harmed her, he could tell. From the red splotches across her face and arms. From her groans of mounting displeasure and pain.
  12.
  13. Still, for every bit she slowed, more men fell. Houses kicked apart and scattered, or their roofs stomped right through. Where bows weren't available. Stones and spears arced up at her, spreading more crimson and ruddy purple bruises.
  14.
  15. The town lay in ruins, before it was finally Kjell’s turn to fall under her gaze. Eyes of ice glaring down at him as she strode, slowly, pained, towards him.
  16.
  17. He thought to flee, but stood his ground. His fellows did as well, bows raised for one last volley. She fell to her knees before them, clasping her hands together. Raising them high to strike a hammer-blow down on the human defenders.
  18.
  19. And they loosed.
  20.
  21. Their arrows struck true, a gout of crimson spilling from her throat. She swayed in place, eyes rolling back as she gurgled out defiance. Then toppled, forward, and across them.
  22.
  23. Her body impacted atop Kjell, and some of his fellows, bearing him to the ground as well and knocking the wind from him.
  24.
  25. In the distance beyond the town, he could hear the crowd let out a raucous cheer.
  26.
  27. “Heh. You guys alright? I think I landed a little hard on you…” The giantess whispered above them.
  28.
  29. “Y-yeah Valiri, we’re alright. Shocksuit took the worst of it.” Kjell muttered back. Louder so that she could hear him, muffled as he was beneath her.
  30.
  31. “Cool. Sounds like everyone else is alright too. Damned near stomped on Jorgen. You wanna tell him to stay to the script and be where he’s supposed to?”
  32.
  33. “Heh. Alright.” he could hear the crier shouting out the victory, bringing an end to the play. Valiri slowly pushed herself up. Wiping splinters of wood and globs of fake blood from herself as she looked down. Smiling, her ears flicked as she took in the destroyed mock town. “...next time how about I win?”
