  1. Xavendark Killingdom’s Abridged History (will be updated and detailed later)
  2. Xaven is the child of an Incubus and an unwilling Sun Elf who had been captured by the other Fey’Ri in an attempt to birth more into their fold. His mother’s blood was strong and made a willful child who resisted his demonic heritage (Lesser Planetouched). The Fey’Ri rejected Xaven and gave him to the Incubus as a slave. The Incubus in turn gave Xaven as a gift to his Abyssal Lord, Vucarik. The Incubus also captured Xaven’s mother and offered her to Vucarik as well.
  3. The Vucarik had little practical use for either slaves, so he used them to amuse himself. He would torture both of them, often together, often using one’s pain to torture the other. He would similarly use hope and their personal connection as a form of torture. They would be brought to the brink of death before being healed/cured/etc just to start the whole process over again until one day, the Vucarik tortured Xaven’s mother too hard too quickly and was unable to heal her wounds. This occurred in front of Xaven and changed his soul.
  4. As Xaven grew older, he began to fight back—futile though it was. However, fighting demons does serve the benefit of progression. As such, he was able to learn how to fight without the need of an instructor for sheer survival and spite. However, one “day,” another demon attempting rise in the ranks surprise attacked Vucarik. This left Xaven alone and unguarded for the first time in his life. Seeing this as his only opportunity, he quickly took his leave, but not before stealing from Vucarik.
  5. Xaven’s mother was married before she was raped and kidnapped. Xaven’s father sought the Fey’Ri on Toril for her return, willing to barter for her. He was a master craftsman. The Fey’Ri agreed to release his wife if he went to the Abyss to make magical weapons for them. He agreed and worked with some commissioned Kaorti, fashioning two Elven Courtblades as well as numerous other weapons and some armor which were not infused by the Kaorti. Of course, the Fey’Ri went back on their word and left him in the Abyss once he was finished. He has not been heard from since.
  6. Seeking further favor from the Incubus, Xaven’s father, they the Fey’Ri traded the crafts for six more studdings. The Incubus in turn, gave the crafts to Vucarik as further tribute. Having lived in Vucarik’s palace his whole life, Xaven was familiar with its layout and knew of a chamber that held weapons. Rushing in, he grabbed a bag he knew to hold more that appeared possible and started shoveling what seemed useful inside. When he saw the weapons and armor, they seemed to call to him, so he took them as well.
  7. While the battle raged, Xaven fled to a chamber with a portal. He had seen demons come and go through it. Not knowing where it would lead, but sure it was better than the Abyss, he leapt through. On the other side, the portal opened to the Underdark. By pure chance, a Drow hunting party was passing by. They captured him and brought him back to the mother of their house. Her first thought was to kill him, then to trade him. Finally, she settled on training him to be used as a spy and planted within the rising Fey’Ri presence. He was to serve as a bridge for further dealings.
  8. While training, he learned how to fight like the Drow . He tried to learn poison use, but it never fully caught on. In time, he proved himself a capable fighter and was allowed to use the weapons he brought with him—mostly because the Drow either didn’t care for them or couldn’t wield them. He also learned that his time in the Abyss had left him with post traumatic stress disorder and a reckless approach to combat which caused his hands to tremble a bit (Shaky and Vulnerable). To compensate, he became a master with the stolen weapons—even to the point of using weapons generally two large for simultaneous combat. Eventually, his training progressed until he too was going on hunting raids. During one of these raids his party ran into some Githzerai on a Rrakkma. Immediately the two groups began to fight each other, but Xaven abstained from the battle. He could tell they were from another world, but did not know where.
  9. After the battle, the Drow party was defeated. The Githzerai debated whether to kill Xaven or not, but the leader recognized that Xaven was indeed not Drow nor had he fought against them. They turned to leave when, on an impulse, Xaven called out to them and begged to go with them. Initially, they declined and continued moving. His mind set, Xaven simply followed them from afar. Before long, the Githzerai found what they were looking for: illithid. A battle raged between the Githzerai and the Illithid.
  10. At one point, the leader who spared Xaven’s life was about to be killed by one of the Mindflayers. It was at that moment that Xaven charged into battle and slew the Illithid attacking the Githzerai leader. Angered, the illithid broke off from their combat, if they safely could, and downed Xaven with Psionic blasts. In the confusion of the new combatant, the Githzerai recouped and beat the remaining Illithid. The leader decided he must now honor Xaven’s request as a blood debt and brought him back with them to Limbo.
  11. This would become Xaven’s happiest time of life. He trained hard with the Githzerai who had rescued him, though his new master (sensei) was not kind. Still, the Gith saw potential in Xaven, and Xaven had discovered a secret desire: to become powerful enough to Kill Vucarik. When the time came, Xaven passed his initiation test. The Gith master rewarded Xaven with an item that would allow him to put his two weapon use to work on the prize of his collection: the courtblades. It didn’t hurt that the Gith had no use for an item anyway, using much smaller weapons—or none at all.
  12. Still, things would not remain rosy as a Githyanki force attacked his master’s monastery. Though they fought to the bitter end, they were vastly outnumbered. At one point during the battle, Xaven saw his master felled by a powerful magic user. This drove Xaven red with rage and he flew into a fury like a wild animal. Xaven killed the mage and returned to his fallen master. Xaven brought his master further within the monastery and battened the door. The two fled back to the underdark of Xen'Drik (where the gith initially found him), but Xaven’s master died shortly thereafter. In the loss of the only time of his life he truly enjoyed, Xaven became somewhat bestial.
  13. But after a couple years in the wilderness, he had lost most of whatever he had been as a person (Cha -6). While this time was not terrible, Xaven became apathetic. He studied nature and reflected on his own life’s journey. He came to realize that the incredible powers of the multiverse were not supreme. Nature, “true nature,” ruled existence—and it was not at all benevolent or good or caring. Still, he had learned much in his time in the wild while fostering a deep hatred of arcane magic users.
  14. After his hermitage, Xaven remembered his purpose in life: to destroy Vucarik. He decided to set out and discover what it would take to kill such a being and acquire the power to do so. This is where Xaven finds himself today.
  15.
  16. Personality
  17. Xavendark is incredibly cautious and reserved due to his upbringing. Vucarik and his minions constantly used Xaven’s beliefs, feelings, thoughts, and perceptions against him in their torture. This has caused him to be very protective of personal information. If possible, he will not reveal any personal information—including his name—for fear that it will later be used against him. He will generally only open up to someone with whom he has fought many battles and who has saved his life or in some other way aided him without direct personal benefit.
  18. Moreover, this lack of positive connection with other sentient beings has left him brusque even when he does open up. Should he form an attachment with another being, he will often say what he thinks in an almost intentionally callous and rude manner. In truth, this is simply a mixture of cynicism from his past experiences combined with an absence of early socialization. As such, arbitrary rules and laws the entities enforce on themselves or others seems absurd to him as do social niceties. He can be seen as hyper critical for lack of any other expression of connection that seems relevant to him.
  19. Since Xaven’s master/sensei (and his only positive social connection outside of his mother) was killed by a githyanki arcane spell caster, Xaven has a deep abiding hatred of magic users, though he accepts their utility. However, when facing foes, he is liable to seek out a magic user as an opponent before a stronger melee fighter because of this loathing. He is more amenable to divine or nature spell casters, though he believes divine spell casters to be fools. While he knows that gods exist, he believes worship of them—or other entities—to be a foolish pursuit.
  20. Xaven’s personal code is a modified “Law of the Jungle,” adapted for sentient beings. In this regard, the unnecessary cause of death and destruction for personal enjoyment is abhorrent, though “sport” can occasionally circumvent this belief (as in hunting). Moreover, he believes everyone gets what they deserve, though the idea of someone “deserving” anything in a metaphysical sense seems ludicrous. People receive the consequences based on their actions or influences beyond their control, but there is no greater philosophical order or meaning to it.
  21. To a large extent, he believes “kill or be killed;” you are either predator or prey. In this regard, he views gods and other incomprehensibly powerful entities as merely super predators—especially gods whose very existence is contingent on people worshipping them. As such, he desires to obtain personal, individual power. This is not political, economic, or another forms of intermediary power that is diffuse, though he recognizes those forms of power may be useful for achieving his goals.
  22. Ultimately, he desires to one-day return to Vucarik and destroy the demon lord, though he understands that his goal may never materialize should he not obtain the power necessary to accomplish such a feat. He muses on the possibility of taking Vucarik’s place, though that does not seem likely as he prefers to wander and does not have fond memories of the Abyss. Arcane magic that can boost his personal power, such as items and buffs he finds acceptable as use-oriented, though he still holds the wielders in contempt (and does see a distinction between magic and psionics, though, again, still holds the users of such in some degree of contempt).
