  1. I am a conscientious person educated to degree level in Computer Science following a three year course at Bangor University which I completed in June 2019. I believe that my values match that of North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and that I have the necessary skills, behaviours and attributes to be of value to the Fire Service in the role of systems engineer. I am keen to develop my skills and have a career in the IT sector and would relish the opportunity to develop these skills and work for the Fire and Rescue Service where I can make a difference in supporting the Fire and rescue Service in North Wales to 'Make North Wales a safe place to live, work and visit'.

  3. I have had an interest in computers and computer science for several years and studied both GCSE and A Level computer science at school. during the summer of 2016 I performed a 4 week work experience period with a software company in Edinburgh. the company LearnPro, amongst other things, develop e-learning packages and online simulations for the Fire and Rescue Services across the UK and in the month work experience I assisted in developing both an e-learning package and I created a visual and interactive programme using VFX software to assist in the development and assessment of Fire Commanders in the learning environment.

  5. Over the last 3 summers I have worked for a small local building company called M and D Building Construction in Menai Bridge. I worked as a labourer initially and developed construction skills over the periods I worked and was able to assist in some of the more skilled roles. Working in a small team and on occasions independently I developed a better understanding of the skills required when working in a small team such as patience and teamwork. I often had to work to tight deadlines and adapt to situations and be innovative in finding solutions to problems that would occur. this included working with suppliers to delay or speed up deliveries depending on the weather or other progress. The skills I gained included being effective in my communication with clients, suppliers, other tradesmen and co-workers as this skill was vital in ensuring that projects were brought in on time and within the budgets of the clients. While working for M and D Building Construction i was asked to assist in developing their IT business model. I created their website which I have updated and provided guidance to them to update and also created a microsoft office solution which included microsoft word template for letter, microsoft excel spreadsheets for invoices and pricing quotes as a youngster I was fortunate to apply for several different junior football teams where I was able to learn about the importance of working in a team and supporting teammates. this developed into me coaching junior football from the age of 18. I completed the necessary coaching badges and successfully ran teams for 3 years. I saw my role in running these teams not only to develop the football skills of the young people in my teams but to instill qualities that i benefitted form such as discipline, respect and communication. I firmly believe that these skills will help the young people in all aspects of their lives and not only in the sporting arena.

I have developed my ability to work independently in my degree when i would have to provide independent assessments but also when working in syndicate work i would have to independently develop solutions for projects and use my own initiative when deadlines were close to provide additional information for the projects, this resulted in me adding additional sections and altering the plan to ensure the project was completed successfully.
  21. When working for M and D Building Construction there was an occasion when one of the owners was out of the country and I was left to supervise the completion of the project. The weather was poor in the morning which meant that preparation work for a vital delivery was compromised; I had to use my initiative by authorising evening work and rearranging with the delivery supplier to have the delivery rescheduled for the early morning - this resulted in the preparation work being completed in the evening and the delivery of the time critical concrete moved to the early morning which allowed the other contractors to complete their work in the afternoon and the project to be finished on time.
