  1. For as long as Clyde could remember, he had wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and be a soldier. When the civil war broke out between colonists on the east coast of Navaros, his father, Roscoe Wes, went off to fight in the war. Everything was set for Clyde for enlist as well when he turned of age. But life can change in an instant: A childhood friend of Clyde named Robin Hawke, charismatic and bright with a presence that Clyde couldn’t help but be drawn to, decided that the life of an outlaw was the route to pursue. Offering his friend a chance to join him, Clyde lost himself in Robin’s dream, abandoning the dream he once had.

  3. For years the two go on a crime spree that spread east into the uncharted territories, luring travelers leaving the major cities into traps and ambushes. It was during this time that Robin’s true nature as a cruel sadist came to light. Of the two, he was the first to gain a nickname. He wore a black fingerless glove on his left hand that was studded with metal and weighted along the knuckles, which he’d use to beat their robbery victims. He embraced the name he was given, Black Glove, and took to preferring it over his own name.

  5. Clyde’s own nickname was one he didn’t care for, gaining it when they mastered their trap, Clyde imitating the sounds of a wounded dog to lure the unsuspecting, the overly curious and the Good Samaritans. Most of their victims would recalled that it was the blonde one who made the barking sounds and it was Black Glove who did the beating. At first, he was called “The Barking One” but it was shortened later to “Barker.” Robin also embraced this name, taking to referring to Clyde as Barker as often as possible, making people knew that it was Black Glove and Barker who robbed them.

  7. For a time, the life was good. They robbed many, stole all manner of goods, and sold whatever they couldn’t use. The war had drawn to an end, and there were plenty of colonists and travelers heading west and they never wanted for prey. Once again, Clyde would find his life would change. While relaxing in a tavern, he would chance into someone from the town he used to live in. This person recognized Clyde, and informed him that his father was bed-ridden, dying from wounds he had received in the war. This news stunned Clyde, who thanked the person who telling him. That night, he had a brief talk with Robin. He said he wanted to stop for a while, visit his father and spend as much time as he could with him before it was too late. Robin gave his blessings, said he could handle himself just fine on his own, joking that he’d probably pick up a new partner if Clyde spent too much time away.

  9. Traveling back east, Clyde would find his father in a hospice, weak, sickly, a shell of the man that Clyde once called father. Granted some measure of privacy by the care takers, Clyde confessed to being the outlaw Barker to his father. An upstanding man of honour, Roscoe felt nothing but contempt for his son, refusing to speak with him any further. This broke Clyde’s heart, but he didn’t move, remaining by his father’s side, apologizing over and over.

  11. For a week he remained there, helping the nurses with feeding his father, caring for him, doing what he could to ease his suffering. Then Roscoe spoke. Telling his son that he felt his time was near, he needed his son to do something for him. In their home, ontop the mantle was a case. Inside that case was a locket in the shape of a mushroom. This locket had been given to him by an Elf who had died in the war. The elf told him this locket was special, and that the key to opening it was hidden in or near the Mouth of the World. Roscoe tasked his son to find the key, open the locket, and find out what exactly he had been carrying. Clyde took this to be a means to redeem himself in his fathers eyes. Promising he’d be back as soon as possible.

  13. Traveling west to the town of Rosewater, Clyde would begin his search, but he doesn’t get far. Standing at the edge of the pit gazing in, he’d hear a gun being drawn behind him, and a single thought crept into his mind It’s a lawman. Putting his hands up, he started to ask for a fair trail. Instead, the person shot him, the bullet striking the back of his head. As he fell, he caught just the barest glimpse of his assailant, a man in a pristine white suit. Then his world fell into darkness.

  15. It just so happened then his body landed next to a doctor from Rosewater, named Hoss. Dragging him back to Rosewater, Hoss would patch up Clyde to the best of his ability, saving his life and giving him another chance...
