  57.
  58.
  59. You are Lord Longbottom, a noble living in the kingdom of Larion. You have a
  60. pouch of gold and a small dagger. You are awakened by one of your servants who
  61. tells you that your keep is under attack. You look out the window and see several
  62. men with bows and arrows approaching
  63. > Scoff
  64.
  65. "I don't believe it".
  66.
  67. The man looks at you incredulously. "Lord Longbottom, we've been sent to report
  68. this news to you. We would be honored if you could spare us from our duty, but
  69. we must speak with you immediately!"
  70.
  71. You shrug
  72. > They do not seem a threat. How dire is it?
  73.
  74. "They're just peasants".
  75. "We need to talk to you now! The king has declared martial law and all those
  76. who oppose him will face justice!"
  77. "Then let's go!"
  78. "But..".
  79. "Let's go!"
  80.
  81. > How many guards do we have?
  82.
  83. You look around and see that there are only two men. One of them holds a sword
  84. while the other holds a bow. They both stare at you expectantly.
  85. "Two?"
  86. "Yes sir".
  87.
  88. > And of the attackers?
  89.
  90. "What about the others?"
  91. "None".
  92. "No one else?"
  93. "There were no more than ten of them".
  94. "Ten? Then what happened to the rest?"
  95. "It was an ambush".
  96.
  97. > How many are approaching us?
  98.
  99. "How many?"
  100. "About twenty".
  101. "Twenty? I'm outnumbered".
  102. "Sir, we need to get out of here!"
  103. "Do you know where the king is?"
  104.
  105. > Allow the staff to take what they want from the armoury. Make an annoucement.
  106.
  107. You nod your head as you grab the staff and swing it down on the nearest soldier.
  108. He screams in pain and falls backwards. You then turn your attention to the
  109. second soldier. He too screams in pain and falls back
  110. > revert
  111. Last action reverted.
  112. "How many?"
  113. "About twenty".
  114. "Twenty? I'm outnumbered".
  115. "Sir, we need to get out of here!"
  116. "Do you know where the king is?"
  117.
  118. > The King is arriving to this keep soon.
  119.
  120. "No, I don't think so".
  121. > With these bandits I doubt it will be tonight.
  122.
  123. "If it isn't the king".
  124. > If he doesn't arrive at all?
  125.
  126. "He'll arrive soon enough".
  127. > We might be able to hold out until his army arrives.
  128.
  129. "That's good then, I can wait for him".
  130. > Order all residents of the castle to take whatever they want from the armoury.
  131.
  132. "Alright, alright, I won't ask again".
  133. > How many, including us are currently residing in this castle?
  134.
  135. "A hundred and forty-five people".
  136. > How many of those are trained in the art of archery?
  137.
  138. "Three".
  139. > Those three can take the longbows, the rest can use our crossbows.
  140.
  141. "Very well, but you will leave the castle by tomorrow morning".
  142. > For now we will defend this castle, everyone who can aim a bow must stand watch.
  143.
  144. "Good, good, we shall wait for the king then".
  145. > Make the announcement, we will all stand watch. Including me.
  146.
  147. "Everyone, stay alert!".
  148. > I take it the bridge has been drawn up?
  149.
  150. "No, the bridge has been left open, we will cross it when the time comes".
  151. > We need to fortify this castle now!
  152.
  153. "Don't worry, we will all be safe on the bridge".
  154. > revert
  155. Last action reverted.
  156. "No, the bridge has been left open, we will cross it when the time comes".
  157. > revert
  158. Last action reverted.
  159. "Everyone, stay alert!".
  160. > Draw up the bridge, barricade the doors.
  161.
  162. "Here we go!"
  163. > We have a hundred men armed with bows. Twenty peasants cannot breach us.
  164.
  165. "Hahaha, I know it's easy for you, but the king is coming soon and we can't afford
  166. to lose any more time".
  167. > We will wait for him to come and let him in.
  168.
  169. "Fine, but you better hurry up".
  170. > Do we have scouts on retainer?
  171.
  172. "Not yet, but I will get them soon".
  173. > How soon?
  174.
  175. "Soon, I hope".
  176. > Send them to find the King's current whereabouts. I have a message to deliver.
  177.
  178. "Ah, yes, I'll inform them as soon as possible".
  179. > They must tell the King we are under siege.
  180.
  181. "I suppose, but I'd rather not waste their time".
  182. > There might be more raiders who will attack.
  183.
  184. "Then we should prepare ourselves for that eventuality".
  185. > Is anyone else that you know of currently under attack?
  186.
  187. "Yes, I've heard of some of them being attacked recently".
  188. > Bandits or major forces?
  189.
  190. "Bandits, no".
  191. > Then what?
  192.
  193. "Well, I'm just saying, we should prepare ourselves for such an eventuality".
  194. > I have a duty to assist all local towns within this area.
  195.
  196. "And why would I do that?"
  197. > We cannot abandon our citizens.
  198.
  199. "Oh, I don't think you could, but I believe it is our duty to help our fellow
  200. man".
  201. > Is the semaphore network online?
  202.
  203. "It is, but only to warn us if something happens, nothing more".
  204. > Alert all nearby towns of a small bandit force converging on our area. It is likely other groups will attack them as well.
  205.
  206. "Excellent idea! We should keep our eyes open for other threats".
  207. > Do you know the whereabouts of our local marshal by chance?
  208.
  209. "No, he has his own quarters in the castle, so he spends most of his time there".
  210. > He should be notified as well.
  211.
  212. "That would be very helpful".
  213. > How far is the current raider force from our castle?
  214.
  215. "About half a day's ride".
  216. > They may likely intercept the King.
  217.
  218. "They will, but I believe we should prepare ourselves anyway".
  219. > We do not have the forces to intercept the bandits, but the marshal does.
  220.
  221. "He's fine, but I suggest you send someone to notify him of the situation. He
  222. can probably handle things himself".
  223. >
