- You are Lord Longbottom, a noble living in the kingdom of Larion. You have a
- pouch of gold and a small dagger. You are awakened by one of your servants who
- tells you that your keep is under attack. You look out the window and see several
- men with bows and arrows approaching
- > Scoff
- "I don't believe it".
- The man looks at you incredulously. "Lord Longbottom, we've been sent to report
- this news to you. We would be honored if you could spare us from our duty, but
- we must speak with you immediately!"
- You shrug
- > They do not seem a threat. How dire is it?
- "They're just peasants".
- "We need to talk to you now! The king has declared martial law and all those
- who oppose him will face justice!"
- "Then let's go!"
- "But..".
- "Let's go!"
- > How many guards do we have?
- You look around and see that there are only two men. One of them holds a sword
- while the other holds a bow. They both stare at you expectantly.
- "Two?"
- "Yes sir".
- > And of the attackers?
- "What about the others?"
- "None".
- "No one else?"
- "There were no more than ten of them".
- "Ten? Then what happened to the rest?"
- "It was an ambush".
- > How many are approaching us?
- "How many?"
- "About twenty".
- "Twenty? I'm outnumbered".
- "Sir, we need to get out of here!"
- "Do you know where the king is?"
- > Allow the staff to take what they want from the armoury. Make an annoucement.
- You nod your head as you grab the staff and swing it down on the nearest soldier.
- He screams in pain and falls backwards. You then turn your attention to the
- second soldier. He too screams in pain and falls back
- > revert
- Last action reverted.
- "How many?"
- "About twenty".
- "Twenty? I'm outnumbered".
- "Sir, we need to get out of here!"
- "Do you know where the king is?"
- > The King is arriving to this keep soon.
- "No, I don't think so".
- > With these bandits I doubt it will be tonight.
- "If it isn't the king".
- > If he doesn't arrive at all?
- "He'll arrive soon enough".
- > We might be able to hold out until his army arrives.
- "That's good then, I can wait for him".
- > Order all residents of the castle to take whatever they want from the armoury.
- "Alright, alright, I won't ask again".
- > How many, including us are currently residing in this castle?
- "A hundred and forty-five people".
- > How many of those are trained in the art of archery?
- "Three".
- > Those three can take the longbows, the rest can use our crossbows.
- "Very well, but you will leave the castle by tomorrow morning".
- > For now we will defend this castle, everyone who can aim a bow must stand watch.
- "Good, good, we shall wait for the king then".
- > Make the announcement, we will all stand watch. Including me.
- "Everyone, stay alert!".
- > I take it the bridge has been drawn up?
- "No, the bridge has been left open, we will cross it when the time comes".
- > We need to fortify this castle now!
- "Don't worry, we will all be safe on the bridge".
- > revert
- Last action reverted.
- "No, the bridge has been left open, we will cross it when the time comes".
- > revert
- Last action reverted.
- "Everyone, stay alert!".
- > Draw up the bridge, barricade the doors.
- "Here we go!"
- > We have a hundred men armed with bows. Twenty peasants cannot breach us.
- "Hahaha, I know it's easy for you, but the king is coming soon and we can't afford
- to lose any more time".
- > We will wait for him to come and let him in.
- "Fine, but you better hurry up".
- > Do we have scouts on retainer?
- "Not yet, but I will get them soon".
- > How soon?
- "Soon, I hope".
- > Send them to find the King's current whereabouts. I have a message to deliver.
- "Ah, yes, I'll inform them as soon as possible".
- > They must tell the King we are under siege.
- "I suppose, but I'd rather not waste their time".
- > There might be more raiders who will attack.
- "Then we should prepare ourselves for that eventuality".
- > Is anyone else that you know of currently under attack?
- "Yes, I've heard of some of them being attacked recently".
- > Bandits or major forces?
- "Bandits, no".
- > Then what?
- "Well, I'm just saying, we should prepare ourselves for such an eventuality".
- > I have a duty to assist all local towns within this area.
- "And why would I do that?"
- > We cannot abandon our citizens.
- "Oh, I don't think you could, but I believe it is our duty to help our fellow
- man".
- > Is the semaphore network online?
- "It is, but only to warn us if something happens, nothing more".
- > Alert all nearby towns of a small bandit force converging on our area. It is likely other groups will attack them as well.
- "Excellent idea! We should keep our eyes open for other threats".
- > Do you know the whereabouts of our local marshal by chance?
- "No, he has his own quarters in the castle, so he spends most of his time there".
- > He should be notified as well.
- "That would be very helpful".
- > How far is the current raider force from our castle?
- "About half a day's ride".
- > They may likely intercept the King.
- "They will, but I believe we should prepare ourselves anyway".
- > We do not have the forces to intercept the bandits, but the marshal does.
- "He's fine, but I suggest you send someone to notify him of the situation. He
- can probably handle things himself".
