  7. The 17pdr was not a bad gun. It was a rather good gun.
  8. Good penetration and accuracy. Definitely was dangerous for German tanks.
  9. But I can't tell you if the German 7.5cm Pak40/Kwk40 or the 17 pdr 77mm HV is better.
  10. Apparently the 17 pdr could fire sabots which increased the penetration of the 17pdr by a lot. Still it appears that no Tiger II(not entirely sure about that) or Jagdtiger was ever penetrated frontally in combat. That perhaps implies that the 17pdr was unable to penetrate those tanks.
  11. Moreover only about 6% of the shots fired by the 17pdr were sabots. There seems to have been a problem with accuracy when firing this type of ammunition. But I am not sure if it was a design flaw or the crews not knowing how to competently handle the ammo.
  12. Anyways I guess the German 8.8cm Kwk43/Pak43 was still a lot better than the 17 pdr if you want to destroy tanks.
