  1. [10:18] <Cherem> Having left Greyhound's office behind, you are secondarily briefed by Hanase. The man looks a little worse for the wear, the toll of this constant activity seeming to finally take hold. "Alright. So, this guy, Master Conflagration, is here in City N. Or, they think he is. We need leads for him: the local organized crime may know something. That, or the police, but they would have had to come to us for that."
  2. [10:19] <Jamie_Knapp> "So you want us to scope him out, find him and capture him?"
  3. [10:21] <Cherem> Hanase nods, "Please. We'll look into getting you a picture, but from what we've gotten from those three, he's vaguely chinese / middle eastern looking, steppe folk. One of his arms is supposedly covered in scripture and poetry from... a long time ago."
  4. [10:22] <The_Espada_> "How long ago?"
  5. [10:23] <Kirishima_Shizuka> "Ancient Chinese secret long ago."
  6. [10:24] <Cherem> The professor rubs his forehead, "Peacebond insists that the poetry is Pre-Cultural Revolution, markedly religious. He's a fundamentalist, or was. Again, the nature of the man is sketchy at best."
  7. [10:27] <Cherem> "That is inconsequential though. He's a killer, and a famous one, but having UGNPRC upset with us is bad in it's own nature. While Hong Kong's men might... well, I'm not one to poke that bear." Hanase clears his throat, "I know you've all had a long, long night, so the dorms are open if you need to rest."
  8. [10:27] <Ian_Goodwill> Ian seems unimpressed.at best, chewing on his finger as he can't wait to get out of this 'no smoking' zone. "I want to be clear about something: this is now our case, right? I can handle it as I see fit? It's not my place to be upset about -their- fuck ups."
  9. [10:28] <Cherem> Hanase shrugs, "If you step on toes, just be ready for paperwork. If this guy dies, well, nobody is going to miss him."
  10. [10:29] <Ian_Goodwill> Ian then gives him a friendly wave as he retires from the meeting, shaking his head as he pockets his hands. "This is just messy."
  11. [10:36] <Cherem> The first area of interest as to where Conflagration could have gone is where you left him: the warehouse in the industrial zone. It's a quick jaunt, as the roads are dying out this time of night. The industrial zone itself is starting to get bathed in thick yellow lighting, casting the warehouse in an ominous glow.
  12. [10:37] <Cherem> There doesn't seem to be many people around here at this time: there'd probably be a security guard somewhere, but you find yourself at the warehouse. The doors are as wide open as before, and when you approach them, you can hear muted talking.
  13. [10:39] <Cherem> Ian's ears easily pick up on about four to five voices, young to middle-aged men, talking about... baseball. Apparantly we have some tiger's fans, talking about the team' latest players and the last season.
  14. [10:40] <@Tsuboki_Junko> Junko lights up a cigarette while Ian does his thing, looking this way and that lazily.
  15. [10:40] * Jamie_Knapp (~IceChat9@8DD3DAD2:108CD5EE:B88705FA:IP) Quit ( 108CD5EE:B88705FA:IP QUIT :Ping timeout: 240 seconds )
  16. [10:41] <The_Espada_> Dragoon makes a gun appear in his hand preparing himself while sighing.
  17. [10:41] <Ian_Goodwill> Ian is obviously on the lookout, ears peaking out. He's even wearing his nightvision goggles, operator as he is.
  18. [10:43] <Cherem> Much quieter, Ian can pick up on a quick burst of radio garble: two other voices. They, however, are not in the warehouse. And there's the distinct "flick" of a safety beging undone.
  19. [10:44] <Ian_Goodwill> "I think we're expected." Ian tells to the others via microphone. He's now looking for some kind of roof access for himself to give support.
  20. [10:44] <Kirishima_Shizuka> Shizuka quietly lurks near Junko. She still seems pretty irked.
  21. [10:45] <@Tsuboki_Junko> "Not as subtle as we used to be I guess?"
  22. [10:45] <Cherem> Easily, there's other buildings. This block seems to have been used mostly for storing building materials and the like.
  23. [10:46] <Ian_Goodwill> "Were we ever?" Ian then begins scaling one of the buildings, trying to get sight at the people inside.
  24. [10:47] <Cherem> Climbing up, it's not actually hard to see into the warehouse. Spotting the men is a bit more difficult though.
  25. [10:47] <Ian_Goodwill> Ian has night vision and scopes for various ranges. He'll track them.
  26. [10:48] <@Tsuboki_Junko> "So who and where?"
  27. [10:48] <Cherem> Looks like a bunch of dudes in black pants and black jackets, wearing gloves. From his position, he can catch sight of the firearms they're holding: looks like submachine guns.
  28. [10:49] <Ian_Goodwill> "Give me a moment, darling." Ian zooms into one of them, picking up his weapon. "Submachine guns, and they clearly are expecting company. Five of them inside."
  29. [10:51] <@Tsuboki_Junko> "Don't call me darling, we're on it." Junko heads for the building.
  30. [10:51] <Ian_Goodwill> The moment it seems like they're about to be stopped or anything, Ian is ready to squeeze the trigger.
  31. [10:51] <The_Espada_> "Seems easy enough." Dragoon follows after.
  32. [10:52] <Kirishima_Shizuka> Shizuka follows as well.
  33. [10:52] <Cherem> Entering the building, the men look up. "Ah. I guess he was right, they really did show up." The boss rubs his chin, the others' hands going to their guns at the sight of you.
  34. [10:53] <@Tsuboki_Junko> "Oh come on, really? Guns? Do you know who we are?"
  35. [10:53] <The_Espada_> "What a warm welcome." Dragoon smirks.
  36. [10:53] <Ian_Goodwill> "Talk to them if you want. I'll be waiting." Ian changes his sight to the leader.
  37. [10:54] <Kirishima_Shizuka> "Gentlemen!"
  38. [10:54] <Cherem> "Not really," The boss comments, one finger in his ear, "Sharpshooter just said 'Keep'em busy for an hour'."
  39. [10:55] <Ian_Goodwill> The moment the word Sharpshooter is hushered, Ian pulls the trigger, aiming for the skull of their leader.
  40. [11:01] <Cherem> 'Hour' slips past the man's lips, and the next moment his lips are on the ground, as well as the rest of his head. He collapses like a bag of sand, and his men yell a mixture of curses, screams, and ready their weapons
  41. [11:11] <Ian_Goodwill> "Two unknown agents slipped in." Ian then switches to his P-90, and fires quick, renegade-controlled bursts at every available target.
  42. [11:14] <Ian_Goodwill> Ian's hail of bullets strike true, splattering the pair downstairs, and while he does get good hits on the new agents, doesn't disable them.
  43. [11:15] <Ian_Goodwill> "Mmh, they're still a problem." He simply comments with a tch.
  44. [11:15] <Cherem> Both of the agents try to slip to the side and avoid being shot, but the bullets punch through and strike true, and while the four men downstairs are dead, the other two look ready to go.
  45. [11:18] <Cherem> The two groups of men downstairs look like they've been put through a grater, but somehow, their major wounds start to close and they can force themselves to stand up.
  46. [11:18] <Cherem> Up above, both of the agents raise their hands, weapons materializing from the dust and thin air, before both of them unloading at Ian.
  47. [11:19] <Cherem> As they fire, some of the shots swing downwards, pulled down by gravity, to strike at the rest of you as well!
  48. [11:22] <Ian_Goodwill> Ian performs a defensive roll behind an AC unit, letting it eat most of the worst.
  49. [11:36] <Cherem> The bullets tear apart the guns, seeming to actually be parts of the guns, leaving both of the agents without weapons when they're finished.
  50. [11:36] <Cherem> They both are dressed in black wetwork gear, with black balaclavas and goggles.
  51. [11:36] <Kirishima_Shizuka> Shizuka gets shot up and squeals, bleeding heavily and leaking some black goo. She seems pretty woozy after.
  52. [11:36] <Cherem> "Didn't... That bastard sent us into something like this?"
  53. [11:37] <@Tsuboki_Junko> Junko's scales easily potect her from the gunfire, doing her best to protect Shizuka at the same time.
  54. [11:37] <The_Espada_> Dragoon dodges past the gunfire.
  55. [11:45] <Kirishima_Shizuka> Shizuka twitches as she looks at herself bleeding, eyes widening. "Get back in here!" And with that the black stuff goes flying back into her, though the blood remains where it is. Still, she looks a little better now.
  56. [11:58] <@Tsuboki_Junko> "No one hurts my (half) sister!" Junko makes a dash for the first group, body changing as the Renegade is let loose. The angry delinquent wrecks the small group of grown adult men.
  57. [12:06] <Ian_Goodwill> Ian takes another crackshot at the agents, piercing through them with ruthless efficiency. He does so in one swift movement, holding his breath, aiming for their center mass.
  58. [12:10] <Cherem> The bullets slam through the agent, who collapses, grabbing at their stomach. The other agent lets out a yell, "Sujin!" A longarm appears in his hands, and he fires again, this time directly at Ian.
  59. [12:15] <Ian_Goodwill> Another defensive roll for Ian, a few cracks can be heard as he outspeeds his own body.
  60. [12:16] <Cherem> "You wily-" You can catch a rapid burst of loud electric wails, like a brief alarm.
  61. [12:22] <Kirishima_Shizuka> "Don't tell your you-know-who, Ian-chan!" Shizuka blows a kiss at Ian.
  62. [12:23] <Ian_Goodwill> Ian feels a rib fix itself, somehow, and a few more pulled muscles going back into place. "Wasn't planning to!"
  63. [12:39] <Cherem> Dragoon raises his gun, rapidly tapping the trigger of his gun, the rounds slipping through the air with a slipstream effect, punching into the agent's upper arm and torso, sending them collapsing to the ground.
  64. [12:51] <Cherem> The guards in the back, with nowhere to go, turn around and raise thier guns, trying to shoot Shizuka, but the bullets flash and spark as they bounce off her sister.
  65. [12:53] <@Tsuboki_Junko> "That's about enough of that!" Junko shouts as she makes another charge, sharp claws tearing into the last of their opponents.
  66. [12:54] <Cherem> They collapse, bleeding and bloody, coughing up and passing out. Silence reigns again as the last few ringing echoes of gunfire disappear, instead replaced with the very distant barking of dogs.
  67. [12:55] <Kirishima_Shizuka> Shizuka patpats Junko with a smile, though she twitches as she looks at all of the blood.
  68. [12:55] <Cherem> Up above, there's a little crackle from one of the agent's radios, specifically the one Dragoon put down, near Ian.
  69. [12:56] <Ian_Goodwill> Ian then reaches it and picks it up, listening to the radio.
  70. [12:57] <Cherem> "What the hell did you two get up to? Report, damnit!" The same electric, distorted voice as the dog-robot-thing that picked up Conflagration.
  71. [12:58] <Cherem> At Ian's feet, the agent twitches a little. You can already see some of the wounds starting to slowly, slowly pull themselves together.
  72. [12:59] <Ian_Goodwill> Ian doesn't hesitate and lowers his gun, finishing off the agent, still holding onto the radio. Not answering yet.
  73. [13:00] <Cherem> The agent jerks, coughing up even more blood, falling still.
  74. [13:00] <Cherem> There's a moment, "God damnit, your job entails being upfront about this kind of shit, I need a report so I can go home!"
  75. [13:01] <Cherem> Ian manages to parse through the endless noise, the seemingly limitless chatter and talk, narrowing in on the noise: the abandoned construction sights, south of the industrial area.
  76. [13:03] <Ian_Goodwill> Ian doesn't even bother answering the radio. Gloating and taunting is something bad guys do to give good guys time to plan and react. He will keep it on him for now. "I can track whoever's behind this, but I don't know how long they'll stay put." He tells the others.
  77. [13:05] <The_Espada_> "Well then we better get a move on
  78. [13:08] <Cherem> With no time to waste, you find yourselves racing to the construction yards. The empty buildings are like skeletons of what could be, some of them even with drywall already up, with roads that start and stop with no real direction, turning from planned concrete to rough dirt and soil.
  79. [13:08] <Ian_Goodwill> Has there been any radio chatter while we were on the move there? Any plans or anything?
  80. [13:08] <Cherem> The place is like a ghost town: occasionally you hear the sound of people, but they seem to be homeless. There's cars that pass through the place occasionally, but nothing substantial.
  81. [13:09] <Cherem> The trip there, you get occasional comments from the mysterious coordinator, who is getting more and more agitated that he is being ignored. At some point he seems to have thought the radio was turned off, which brings with it a litany of curses and complaints on how unreliable illegals are.
  82. [13:10] <Cherem> There are some lights, but they're mostly the low-light yellow and orange lights, bathing the place.
  83. [13:11] <Ian_Goodwill> He turns the radio on, not speaking, just to make it crackle, in the hopes of getting another clue for where to look.
  84. [13:11] <Cherem> Ian, you are able to continue focusing your hearing, leading yourself and others to the base of what was once going to be a great and mighty tower, at least twenty stories high, but only the exterior seems to have been finished.
  85. [13:11] <Cherem> There's a crackle, and then an angry, electronic explitive. He can't be that far.
  86. [13:13] <Cherem> And in fact, it comes into vision not long after. At the base of the tower, the robot dog is pacing, metallic claws clicking on the ground. You can sense there's a warding field here, a sort of sanitized, anesthized smell that stings more than it should.
  87. [13:13] <Ian_Goodwill> "I can scale up there. We're in contact anyway, and I'll be there rushing by your side if you need anything." She looks up the height of the tower. Does it have windows?
  88. [13:14] <Cherem> It doesn't seem to have any that are openable. It looks like a wall of steel until the fifth floor, then glass windows. Maybe the rooftop.
  89. [13:15] <@Tsuboki_Junko> "Just be careful. We have no idea what any of them can do."
  90. [13:18] <Cherem> Ian, you can hear feet. Footsteps. A lot of footsteps inside the tower, on top of the tower. In fact, you also hear several generators, computers, and the low grumble of an engine.
  91. [13:18] <Cherem> You also can see silouettes in the windows occasionally: guys with guns.
  92. [13:19] <Cherem> At best, this is the heart of an operation.
  93. [13:20] <Ian_Goodwill> Ian takes out his phone, and tries to contact Greyhound swiftly. "Greyhound, if you can, send reinforcement to the abandonned construction site. Whoever you can. This is going to be a busy night." By now, Ian seems to be exhausted, really.
  94. [13:20] <Cherem> "Construction Site? Did you find something big? I'll call in favors, what is it?"
  95. [13:21] <Ian_Goodwill> How many people can Ian estimate to be there?
  96. [13:22] <Ian_Goodwill> "At least sixty people here. There's an active, passive warding around here. This is -big-." He mentions, a bit nervous himself. "I think we're already compromised."
  97. [13:23] <Cherem> "We'll get who we can. If you can, stand and observe. Do you think he's there?" You can hear Greyhound cover the mouthpiece and talk in muffled tones.
  98. [13:24] <Ian_Goodwill> He mentions 'sixty' first to Greyhound before glancing at the group. "...Do you guys think he's in there?" He asks them.
  99. [13:25] <@Tsuboki_Junko> "He was with the metal hound, I'm sure he's probably here."
  100. [13:26] <Ian_Goodwill> "I'll give you an 85% confirmation on target. His trusted partner is here, at the very least."
  101. [13:26] <Ian_Goodwill> He says that to Greyhound.
  102. [13:29] <Cherem> "Alright. We'll get moving ASAP. Take any action you need, but be careful. And keep in contact."
  103. [13:30] <Ian_Goodwill> He nods as he then shifts his attention to the others. "Right, for now, we should at least take a good spot to observe and wait for backup."
  104. [13:30] <Kirishima_Shizuka> Shizuka nods to Ian.
  105. [13:30] <The_Espada_> "Alrighty then."
  106. [13:30] <@Tsuboki_Junko> "I can agree with that."
  107. [13:32] <Cherem> Nearby, there's definetly buildings to hide out in.
  108. [13:33] <Cherem> Half an hour drifts by. The dog goes back inside. Forty five minutes, and then, finally, there's the sound of cars. Ian's phone rings, and Greyhound can be heard, "Alright, I managed to gather everybody I could. Where are you, and what's the situation."
  109. [13:37] <Ian_Goodwill> "Near the twenty story tower. That's their hideout. It's supposed to be defunct, but trust me, this is a fully operational battlestation they've got in there. I think that if we strike hard right now, we'll have the element of surprise." He scopes out a few windows, trying to find a few targets to pick. All while ignoring the throbbing in his body from the
  110. [13:37] <Ian_Goodwill> virus going berserk.
  111. [13:38] <Ian_Goodwill> "You guys should already feel the warding, if you pull in closer, in fact."
  112. [13:39] <Cherem> "Alright. Well, we can pull up schematics of the building, but, where are you?"
  113. [13:41] <Cherem> Nearby buildings, there's a bit of a no-man's land coming out from it, but the other buildings look like they were planned to be tall as well, stopping halfway up, about ten stories or so.
  114. [13:41] <Cherem> The run from the closest building to the tower would be a good 50m, and considering that it's mostly been cleared of debris, it's a deathtrap to run it.

  117. [13:45] <Cherem> "This building seems to be... Actually, it's a dead end." Greyhound comments. "There's no exits below that are authorized by the city, there's a loading bay, but the only real entrance is the front door. Or the rooftop."
  118. [13:46] <Ian_Goodwill> "The tower itself seems to have been cleared, and the surroundings of it seem to be cleared to give them a good point of view. We're about two hundred meters, inside a parking garage. That front entrance is a trap. They're expecting us there. Our best bet is probably that roof, then."
  119. [13:46] <Cherem> "... You have a method for that, I'm sure." Greyhound clears his throat, "Well, that will give them a heads up, won't it?"
  120. [13:47] <Ian_Goodwill> "...Our team will distract them on the roof. When they're busy scrambling, your guys raid the main entrance. Does that sound like a plan?"
  121. [13:48] <Cherem> Greyhound hesitates, "We can do that. We have the manpower."
  122. [13:49] <Ian_Goodwill> "If you have concerns, you better share them with me now, Greyhound, not when the pyscho's crushed the building on us by having it already trapped with a ton of C4."
  123. [13:50] <Cherem> "Wasn't... This place abandoned?" Greyhound sounds concerned, "We would've known about a hive like this."
  124. [13:51] <Ian_Goodwill> "Yeah, well, we didn't. My ears aren't lying to me. Not with how keen they've become, and how much I've let the virus work for me. I hope this almost over."
  125. [13:53] <Cherem> "... Goodwill." A very gruff voice, very serious, "This kind of work... maybe you should sit this one out. If it's that bad..."
  126. [13:54] <Ian_Goodwill> "I'm going to see this one finished. Then I'll take a long, well deserved vacation. One last job before retirement, I'd say, even." He almost seems amused by how he's jinxing himself.
  127. [13:55] <Cherem> "Hm. I think that's what they call a DEAD END Flag. But, if you insist. Just try to come back. The last thing we need is another one of you turning into a Gyaum." And then beep, dead line.
