1912 (nineteen twelve) Born in Iasi, in a family of teachers, the father being a professor of philosophy and the mother a high school teacher.

1930 (nineteen thirty) He enrolled as a student at the medical school of the University of Bucharest.

1940 (nineteen fourty) Obtains the title of doctor in medicine with a thesis on some histological structures problems.

1942-1945 (nineteen foury two between nineteen fourty five) Palade served in the Medical Corps of the Romanian Army.

1961 (nineteen sixty one) G. E. Palade was elected a member of the US Academy of Sciences.

1973 (nineteen seventy three) He left the Rockefeller Institute, transferring to Yale University.

1974 (nineteen seventy four) Dr. Palade received the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine, together with Albert Claude and Christian de Duve "for discoveries concerning the functional organization of the cell that were seminal events in the development of modern cell biology", referring to his medical researches performed at the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research. Palade's presentation at the official Nobel Prize ceremony took place on December 12, 1974, with the theme "Intracellular Aspects of the Process of Protein Secretion". The text was published in 1992 by the Nobel Prize Foundation.

1975 (nineteen seventy five) George Palade was elected honorary member of the Romanian Academy.
1989 (nineteen eighty nine) He was elected an honorary member of the Romanian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences (ARA) at the University of California.

1999 (nineteen ninty nine) He worked at the University of San Diego (California).

2007 (twenty seven) President Traian Băsescu decorated it with the national Order "Steaua România" as a colonel

2008 (twenty eight) On October 8, George Emil Palade dies in the United States at the age of 96.
