  1. Just kidding
  2.
  3. Nepotistic hiring, including of SMT members (see: Jasmine)
  4. Hanifa incident - sister of Farouk, arrives, leaves after two days because can't hack it. No (or little) quality control in hiring policy.
  5. Task team created to find out who is tutoring - teacher tiredness blamed on tutoring, not the draining amount of pupils.
  6. Low pay, scaled to nationality. Talented South African or Filipino teachers making a pittance compared to others who are nowhere near as good.
  7. Run totally as a business. Stingy and cheap with a lack of investment in staff welfare or resources
  8. Sanitised environment that they refuse to paint to be less like a hospital and more like a school
  9. Refusing to give exit Visas to people unless planning file was complete
  10. General poor practice from an understaffed HR dept that lacks empathy (laughing at being pulled over by police with no RP,  not renewing RPs - part of their job - and then blaming staff for it)
  11. Callous lack of care for staff overall
  12. Attempting to control all aspects of staff's lives when not at work - Anthea singing ban, Hisham visiting compound to oversee people and check on them.
  13. Firing staff that are leaving towards the end of the year to save on the gratuity payment
  14. Interview lies - what was and wasn't on Ezdan for instance, or that a headscarf is unnecessary.
  15. Blanket, knee-jerk reactions to any problem  (one staff member does something bad and everyone pays for it across all 3 schools)
  16. Failure to back staff in most situations
  17. An insane attempted ban on males teaching in primary school
  18. Giving SMT members one-bedroom accommodation for the same price as the school was paying for two-bedroom places
  19. The whole Hisham trip debacle - denied because it was too far and he didn't want to put the mileage on the buses, then lying about it to Sheika so he would "win"
  20. Also Hisham witholding exit visas, threatening female staff ("remove it or you will see"  - because she put stuff up on her classroom walls. This also contradicted our CPD which encouraged displaying stuff such as student answers on classroom walls), also not allowing kettle in the staff room.
  21. In the girls side someone was teaching two Y7 English classes at the same time, going from one room to another during the lesson, because of the shortage of staff and excessive number of kids.
  22. Charging 1500 Riyal to take Cambridge Exams which actually cost around 350 - school pockets the rest.
  23. Security staff petrified of Hisham. Thanks to him staff have to sign out just to pick something up from our cars.
  24. Cronyism in secondary among arabic staff - Lebanese mafia.
  25. Relationship with upper management is so distant and cold that when the principal called a meeting with random members of staff, some instantly began to cry, fearing for their jobs since the thinking was that it could only be bad. It wasn't bad, but the principal of the school wanting a meeting with you should not elicit instant tears. That isn't a healthy relationship.
  26. "Make sure your baby comes on the due date" - HR to a pregnant staff member, after she had to go to the Ministry to get her mandatory 15 days pre-labour maternity leave.
  27. In summer people lost things at compound. School offered to reimburse it but the money would come OUT OF THE CLEANER'S SALARY!
  28. Secondary school: given 6 timetables in 3 days. Kids received 4.
  29. Secondary School understaffed, everyone has to do an obscene amount of cover.
  30. English department were left leaderless and having to juggle exam boards.
  31. TAs had salaries halved because they were stuck at the airport.
  32. At start of the year, teachers given entrance exams to mark. On the back of some of these IS THE ANSWER KEY! This costs 500qar to do. Also, teachers were marking them at times but the student had already started, making the entrance exam pointless.
