[edit] Overview

    * Disclaimer: If you are a new pilot and you train into this (or you tell a new pilot to do so) before an actual fleet doctrine ship, BoodaBooda will eat your soul. Contrary to popular belief BoodaBooda has recently come out strongly in support of the D.E.R.P. Doctrine and is campaigning tirelessly for it to become the official reimbursable replacement for Alpha Fleet.

I like drones. They are awesome and shiny and go fast. I like to go fast.

Unfortunately, our current fleet doctrine really doesn't focus too much on them. Now, some would say that this is the result of more efficient tactical doctrines having been developed that mesh well with our average SP as well as the constraints placed upon the game world by our benevelent overlords, CCP. Nonsense I say. The lack of focus on effective drone use is obviously a conspiracy by the directorate to keep drones down for fear that they will eventually evolve sentient AI and become our new robotic overlords.

It is for this reason that I have decided to create a new fleet doctrine, tentatively titled D.E.R.P. Fleet. First there was Rifter blob, then there was Drake blob, then there was Alpha Fleet. Fellow Testes, a new age has dawned. The age of D.E.R.P.

But hold up there Silentmajority, just what is D.E.R.P. Fleet?

D.E.R.P. Fleet is:

   1. Fucking awesome
   2. Absolutely retarded
   3. Overly complex
   4. Perfect for TEST

Essentially, the idea behind D.E.R.P. Fleet is to utilize the poor, forgotten drone in an innovative fashion. More specifically, to use drones as a primary weapon in a way that is difficult to counter on the fly when the engagement is entered into directly.
[edit] Skill Requirements

Lets talk skill requirements. As the name suggests, D.E.R.P. Fleet is going to require some drone skills.

    * Gallente Cruiser/Battlecruiser.
    * At a minimum you're going to need T2 Light and Medium drones.
    * The ability to use a drone navigation computer (Drones V, Scout Drone Operation V, Drone Interfacing III).
    * Getting drone interfacing to IV or V is highly recommended!

Primary ship type for D.E.R.P. Fleet will be Myrmidons with Vexors being a likely acceptable alternative. The higher your BC/Gallente Cruiser skill is, the better D.E.R.P. Fleet will work out. So get to training, this doctrine will not see combat for another few weeks.
[edit] Tactical Doctrine

Components: 20 drone boats, 2 dictors or multiple light tackle frigs, and one REALLY FUCKING FAST FRIGATE. Fast as in 8km/s fast. Why 2 dictors? Because one of them is going to probably die in a fire really fast, but I digress.
[edit] Engagement

Upon finding the enemy, D.E.R.P. fleet aligns to them. Once aligned, light tackle and the REALLY FUCKING FAST FRIGATE jump. When the initial wave is approximately half way to target, the main body of D.E.R.P. drone boats jumps as well. When the initial wave lands, tackle frigates immediate grab the juiciest targets in the fleet with their superduper tackle capabilities. The REALLY FUCKING FAST FRIGATE maintains it's alignment and begins to burn until it reaches 200km off the main engagement. At about 100km out, the D.E.R.P. main body should be dropping into the fight.

Upon landing, D.E.R.P. drone boats immediately launch their drones and assign them to the primary called by the FC; this should take approximately 15 seconds. At the same time, D.E.R.P. drone boats maintain their alignment and get back up to full speed. At that point, the drone boats warp to about 50 from the REALLY FUCKING FAST FRIGATE. As soon as the drone boats warp, dictor bubble goes up, dictor burns his ass off out of bubble.

Now things get fun. While the drone boats are in warp, D.E.R.P. drones continue to do damage to the primary target because motherfucker, that's what drones do. When the D.E.R.P. drone boats pull out of warp, they reestablish target locks on the primary and secondary targets and wait for the primary to go down. At that time, the switch targets to secondary while approaching the REALLY FUCKING FAST FRIGATE which is flying at an angle to the enemy to get another warpin if necessary.

Essentially, that is the gist of D.E.R.P. Fleet. I've gone ahead and EFT'd shiptypes for everyone below. The key to this engagement is getting the drones on top of the enemy and then getting the controlling ships the fuck out of harms way within 10-15 seconds of landing.
