- Her family went on a trip to Korea as a gift for their daughter- they knew she had been fascinated by the culture and decided to bring her there. They made arrangements to stay in an empty house, borrowed from the owner who was on a trip. Her family had originally planned to stay for a few weeks. However, those plans were abruptly changed when their daughter was selected to compete for one of the princes. Knowing that their daughter was capable of speaking Korean after years of studying it, they purchased a small house of their own in a Korean village. Her family lives there as they watch the competition go on.
