➳ Xiu was born as Huang Shu Xiu in Guangzhou, China in a Chinese household. Her father is a neurosurgeon and her mother is a professor of Psychology in a university. She also has an elder brother who is a choreographer in Beijing.
➳ Xiu was good academically but she shone more in extra curricular activities such as playing instruments and performing arts. She started learning dancing when she was 5 years old along with her brother who was already learning to dance. During middle school when she participated in a musical, her teacher advised her parents to make her take music lessons because she had a unique voice. Xiu then started music and violin lessons.
➳ When she started high school, k-pop started getting famous in her hometown. She got into k-pop because of her friend. She started doing k-pop dance and vocal covers on YouTube. When she was in her senior year of high school, she got to know that Pledis is holding an audition in Guangzhou. It was hard for her to persuade her parents but she was able to convince them and auditioned.

Known for being the peacemaker of the group, Xiu is a ambassador of world peace. She likes the quiet and peace, and is often found trying to calm down the members and break the fights. On variety shows, she is the most likely to be calm and apologize for her other members. She is so peace loving that she is found making a peace sign in almost all her pictures.

➳ “Hey you can talk to me anytime. I swear I don't bite.”
Xiu is really friendly and approachable. She has a pleasant attitude and can befriend anyone, anywhere, anytime. She is really good with people and has good social skills. This is the main reason why she never felt lonely when she arrived in Korea for the first time. This also explains the huge number of friends she has.

She is the caring one of the group. She cares a lot for her members as well as her friends. She can't see others in pain and does her best to cheer them up. She is also the one to look after the younger members and checks if they have eaten or not. She also makes sure that they go to sleep at time and no one is sleep deprived.

She is very trustworthy. She is good at keeping things to herself and doesn't brawl around. Her members and members trust her and she is the one who knows the most about the others. The members also trust her with valuable stuffs like credit cars, house keys, car keys etc as she is very careful and never loses them.

She is a confused girl and doesn't ever understand the things that are going around her. She is unable comprehend the situations that occur around her and is often termed as clueless. This also happens when someone likes her. She doesn't understand the signs and it is hard for her to understand others feelings for her.

She is a fast learner and learns things really fast and perfectly. This is especially for dancing. She learns the choreographies pretty fast, thanks to her practice. The case is same for learning lyrics, music notes and different languages.

She gets scared pretty easily. Just call her name when she inattentive and it will scare the hell out of her. She is very jumpy and it's funny how easily she gets scared over little things. Strangely, horror movies scare her a lot but she still loves to watch them, even though she only goes half way.

ㅡ HOW DID SHE BECOME A TRAINEE?:
➳ When she was in her senior year of high school, she auditioned for Pledis during their global auditions in Guangzhou on her teacher's advice. She wasn't very hopeful but she still gave it a try. Surprisingly, she was contacted by Pledis for a second round of auditions in Seoul. She came to Seoul with her brother, auditioned and got accepted.

ㅡ DURING TRAINEE YEARS:
➳ It was a little hard for her because she didn't know Korean too well and wasn't able to converse with other trainees. But due to her friendly and approachable, she was able to make friends. Her first friend was Kyulkyung and they became really close. Her trainee years were hard but she had her friends to depend on.

➳ She had a YouTube channel for dance and vocal covers.
➳ She was the girl in Seventeen's 'Very Nice’ MV.

➳ All of the members decide to have a sleepover party to get to know each other well. They play Truth or Dare, 20 Questions and talk about their personal lives and dreams.
