	Its been 5 years since Star and Marco defeated Ludo and his minions for control of the wand, to think they were just kids who faced off against overwhelming odds during that final battle adulthood seem's boring now compared to back then, Star herself remained on earth with Marco and her other friends until she turned 18 as she didn't want to leave them behind especially Marco her best friend through all the good and bad times, she wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for him having her back regardless of what life threw at them. While she is on Mewnie now, that her magic training is done,  whats left is learning about the laws of Mewnie, mingling with other kingdoms and their rulers  and when to or not to order someone to death by hanging...joyous things like that, the whole ordeal took about a year and is nearly over and since she doesn't have to become Queen until her mother retires or dies she fully intends to return to Earth with Marco and the Diaz's , she hasn't seen them in person for a very long time and misses them greatly.

	The Queen had forbidden her from visiting earth a few weeks after her training began, as well as Marco from visiting Mewnie the Queen saw him as a distraction as when he and Star got together something would end up catching fire and her attention span dwindled to almost nothing the final straw however was when one of her guards reported that at night Marco would show up and take off into the forest with Star returning often until the first light of dawn they would return dirty, often bruised, out of breath and sweaty which did not sit well with the Queen thinking of what they might be up to, in actuality they had been sneaking off to fight in underground tournaments , literally it was in a vast cave with massive network of underground tunnels here Star and Marco got into brutal hand to hand fights with other citizens of Mewnie, who would fight each other to entertain an audience and to earn some money, life was dull without Ludo around this was exactly what they both needed to feel alive getting into the rings fighting random monsters and former and current castle guards even a wizard once... it was euphoric Star and Marco were an unstoppable duo they loved every second of it, Star had tried to explain to her mother but unsurprisingly that made her even madder when she told her what they were doing despite it being Stars idea Marco was sent home on his last visit she returned to him the dimensional scissors the Queen took from him to smuggle out just in case and that not to worry training will be done by her 19th birthday and as soon as she's in the clear shes going back to earth  he looked sad but understood, he hugged her and that was the last they've seen of each other. Sometimes Star wishes she would have lied and just said they were running off to have wild sex and maybe fake a pregnancy for good measure anything to keep her friend around, as her mother was still unbearable.


	Hard to believe that her 19th would be in 3 days, Star was already packing her treasure chest with clothes and spell books, and various knick-knacks the Diaz had kept her room as she left it she could practically smell Marco's super awesome nacho's, Star had wondered if anything has changed since she last saw him, on earth Marco was training himself to be an instructor at his dojo where he trained since he was a kid, Star had no doubt in her mind he would succeed   she would sometimes visit him as he helped his sensei teach little 5 year olds the basics of martial arts the kids loved him called him "master Diaz" he was a natural even the older kids liked him Star would always d'aww when the young ones would bow to him it was beyond adorable. Even though Star had spent 14 years of her life largely alone in the castle while she doesn't regret it she can't imagine not ever returning to earth even after becoming Queen to hang out with Marco and his family and of course watch TV she still hasn't gotten over the series finale to Ducktective, who would have thought he actually had a third brother who was from the future who came back to stop Ducktectives evil twin, she still gets teary eyed just thinking about it. As she packed she was summoned by her mother to the throne room, she was annoyed  but headed down stairs her mother probably had another lecture to give, she she arrived she found the throne room empty only her mother and father were there, something gave Star a bad feeling as there were always someone in here besides her parents, guards, servants various noblemen and woman but not today, this could only mean bad news.

"Star...your father and I have a surprise for you, a birthday gift technically" Queen Butterfly said without a hint of emotion in her voice as usual. Star began to get excited maybe her parents will let her leave sooner or maybe...

Star turned around instantly smiling from ear to ear  but there was no one, she hoped that they had brought Marco over and he was gonna be standing right behind her holding a big cake, her smile quickly vanished when she realized that wasn't the case.

"Star are you ok?" King Butterfly asked puzzled.
"Yeah just fine dad, I'm sorry continue". Queen Butterfly rose up from her throne and told Star her surprise.

"Now that you are an adult its time you take the next step that most adults take especially ones with a kingdom to rule so I'm happy to say we have found a husband for you Star a prince from a neighboring kingdom, you already met him at a party Prince Kale his parents have already agreed to the union which will strengthen both our kingdoms greatly...congratulations my Star we have already made preparations for the wedding to happen on your birthday"

Star's jaw dropped to the floor, she wanted to scream, but it felt like she had no mouth. "WHAT?! YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME!!" Star finally shouted the room around her started to spin, she didn't know what was worse that her parents would just trade her off like this or the fact that it was to that Kale guy, Star remembered him well he was a smug aristocratic pompous jerk...no wonder her mother chose him he must remind her of her younger self  worse he was also a creep he even tried to feel up Star at the part they met at before she punched him in the jaw and stormed off in disgust. Star began to rant and shout she was not going to marry him, not ever.

The Queen tried to calm her down, saying the deal is done and in the long runs its whats best for her people, Star threatened to leave Mewnie and never return unless this stopped, the Queen just told her she can't and have already confiscated her dimensional scicorrs even the ones she thinks she's hidden and the wand just in case she tried to, telling her that she can't run away from her responsibilities, Stars father never spoke a word through all this even as Star grew more furious  but the Queen just dismissed her fears and threats as an overreaction feeling that she will come around eventually, Star just bolted to her bedroom in tears.

A few hours passed, Star had torn her room apart looking for her extra dimensional scissors but sure enough they were gone, but continued to smash things in order to blow off steam if she didn't she was afraid she might just attack her own mother, eventually she gave up and collpased on her bed in tears, there was no way out of this no way to get help and worse of all no way she was going to make it back to earth back to Marco her mother probably knew that if she had exit Star would take it and vanish without a trace. As she lay in bed crying her father came into her bedroom, and took a seat on the bed next to her.

"I tried talking her out of it you know, that boy isn't fit to be king of anything but not like it would matter if he was, you wouldnt go for him not with that  Marco around" King Butterfly said quietly almost whispering, Star looked up to him from her bed her eys red and swollen from crying. "What do you mean dad?" Star said with a sniff.

"Sweetheart you need to stop fooling yourself, your not a teenager anymore don't be afraid to accept what is and what isn't you and me both know you love that Diaz boy too much to even consider anyone else and I'm OK with that I just want what makes you happy".  King Butterfly added.

Star stood up in her bed this was the first time anyone has said that to her about Marco it was a sobbering expereince mostly because her father was right Marco always did hold a special place in her heart that no other boyfriend has ever had and they've never even dated now with a very real threat of never seeing him again Star is finally begenning to accept this fact.

"Unfortunealty your mother she's a stickler for tradition, I asked her to drop it or at the very least bring the Diaz boy back at least this way I could help the lad transition to be king some day and a fine king he would have made that boy, but she wouldnt have it no kid from Earth is good enough for our daughter she said". King Butterfly pinched his nose in frustration. "She just wants the best for you even if shes blind to what it actually is best". Star hugged her dad, he was always there for her when she needed it but its still didn't ease the pain in her very soul she was feeling. King Butterfly kissed his daughters forehead and told her to get some sleep, maybe things will be better for her in the morning and then left. Star had trouble falling asleep that night, she would have nightmares of prince kale turning into a monster and devouring and of her being back at the Diaz house and running down an endless hallway she can see marco and his family at the end but no matter how fast she runs she can't reach them she screams Marco's name but its like she doesn't exist, beneath her the ground breaks apart and she falls into a bottomless void of which there is no escape "goodbye Marco" she whispers as she falls.

On Earth, Marco awakens from his sleep in a cold sweat, he's stumbles out of bed, down the hall and into the bathroom he splashes cold water on himself several times at the sink and stares at himself in the mirror taking deep breaths, he can't explain it but somehow he just knows.

Star is in trouble.
