Handling rating Handling comments I tried both Track and Normal modes here to bookend the handling performances, but discovered little empirical difference because the quick way through our slalom test is with the least amount of sliding the car past cones, or just what the electronic stability control (ESC) system rewards. On our highway-heavy evaluation loop, we managed to achieve 21 mpg, but that took an inordinate amount of restraint. The clutch pedal is easy and intuitive, but the shifter itself is terrific. Our GT-trim test car grows the price another $4,000. Notably absent, however, is a digital speedometer. Of the three (Sport, Comfort, Normal), I preferred Normal -- especially for the quick left-right-left transitions of our slalom test. Steering feel in both tests was a little distant, but the way the weight of the resistance rises and falls with the car's speed is appropriate. The V8 revs freely and produces power in a linear fashion until about 4,000 rpm where the engine seems to really hit its stride.
