  1. Storm clouds gathered in Odyn’s skies, lightning illuminating the landscape of the planet’s many manufactorums and the silhouettes of distant warfoms. Imperial drop pods fell from the heavens like Odyn’s acidic rain, the Cult of Code had been severed from imperial vox channels, the only communications that could be had were with those invading their homeworld; the tenth legion, the Steel Fists.
  2. Descending to pacify Odyn with the goal of ceding both the planet’s industrial capabilities and vast reserves of surplus wargear.
  3.
  4. Spark stood silent, in complete disbelief watching the incoming invasion of those he thought of as allies and friends, shock turned to anger as his mind set to work devising the defensive plans that would need to be executed.
  5. The silence was broken by loud armored footsteps, Spark turned his head to see his two assigned Wardens of the Gilded Aegis approaching him only to halt, almost as if his stair had frozen them like statues, the only movement that could be seen was that of pieces of parchment from the purity seals that had adorned their armours but a moment ago, fall to the wardens feet.
  6. Spark’s gaze shifted back to drop pods, he closed his eyes and muttered to himself, “No sacrifice too great…”
  7. He then turned and slowly walked up to the Gilded Aegis, they were twitching, their armour binding them in place. Spark picked up the fallen pieces of parchment and looked up at the wardens. “…No traitory too small.”
  8.
  9. In a single moment, the servo motors on wardens’ armours came to life spinning their helmets backwards, snapping their necks and killing them instantly. Spark then placed the parchements on the still motionless armours, the nanites that formed the ‘wax’ retook their places and the armours finally slumped over forwards as lifeless husks. Stepping between the corpses Spark then headed for the exist, to lead the defense personally.
  10.
  11.
  12. All the while, drop pods slammed into the planet's surface cracking the surrounding landscape; knights spewed forth gunning down any who resisted - machine and Code Priest alike.
  13. As they inevitably secured armouries and ammunition dumps, containing tons of desperately needed AREAS rounds, Boltrifles, Explosives, sets of Power Armour and Armoured vehicles adapted for the knight’s use.
  14. The Code priests of Odyn took it upon themselves to detonate the stockpiles before they could be plundered, having no personal use for contents within. The ensuing explosions rose into the upper atmosphere, sending debris and shrapnel flying for miles. Entire city blocks were leveled in the shock wave, reducing permacrite alloys and bones, hundreds of thousands of knights were killed. Where traps such as these could not be used, the Code Priest resorted to their secondary method of defence; launching Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles. The atomic payloads wiping thousands more from the planet's surface.
  15.
  16. These initial tactics had weakened the Steel Fists, but they were far from beaten. And so the conventional conflict truly began, the knights moved from manufactorum to manufactorum attempting to dislodge their foes. But the Code Priests were prepared, this was after all far from the first invasion Odyn had suffered and they had learnt from each one, turning the planet into a veritable fortress of minefields, pre aimed artillery batteries and entrenched defensive positions for soldiers, machines and warforms alike. For all the military brilliance of the tenth legion, they had woefully under estimated the Cult of Code’s resilience in the face of a seemingly unwinnable war.
  17.
  18. Knights would begin to clear streets only to turn a corner and be met with a warform, rising from its concealed position to slaughter its prey, Code Priests would emerge from rooftops to ambush the knights, retreating before effective counter fire could be put down on them. Servi-trons were rigged with whatever kind of explosives were on hand and sent in en mass to suicide bomb the knights, when the knights did gain ground it was for he most part scorched, and the few times something of use could be salvaged, it was almost always sabotaged. Such as crates of AREAS round with one in every ten set to detonate in the knight’s Boltrifle, destroying it and injuring the user.
  19.
  20. The more the war for Odyn dragged on, the more the Cult of Code simply bled the Steel Fists dry; First the legion’s advance was halted, then they were pushed back and finally they were contained and destroyed by Cult of Code’s remaining warforms.
  21.
  22.
  23. Odyn had burnt for a fourth time, the damage and losses were immeasurable - But they had survived, and lived to plan their revenge on their former overlords.
