  1. But Brittany your argument extends to the second and third trimester as well. No matter what anti-choice activists say, they do not have the science on their side, and there is no real evidence that a fetus does actually feel pain even if it's aborted in the 36th week.
  2.
  3. According to this New York Times article that uses a study conducted by doctors to see if a fetus is awake in the womb; it is cited that "He and his team detected the presence of such chemicals as adenosine, pregnanolone, and prostaglandin-D2 in both human and animal fetuses, indicating that the fetus is both sedated and anesthetized in the womb. These chemicals are oxidized with the newborn's first few breaths and washed out of the tissues, allowing consciousness to occur. If the fetus is asleep throughout gestation then the possibility of fetal pain is greatly minimized"

  5. Many women also miss out on getting an abortion during the first trimester due to a vast number of reasons. This includes various reasons such as economic circumstances, being unable to tell their parents, not knowing they're pregnant, etc.
  6.
  7. I wouldn't want to be the one to tell a girl who was raped and was afraid to tell her religious conservative parents for fear of ostracization and couldn't get the money to abort until her second or third trimester that her life is now ruined because she can't have her abortion.
  8.
  9. From your last post the only other reason I can see why you would restrict abortions after the 1st trimester is simply because of the myth of fetuses (or embryos if we're talking 8 weeks or less) feel pain. As shown by the link above, that is simply not the case. There's no other reason therefore to restrict abortions after the first trimester.
