It's been a long few years since I first wrote this scriptset.

Back in the ages of multiple build problems and 0 mainlined modules, many people got sick and tired of reinstalling/upgrading VMware with the same mandatory hacks. Finally our beloved oliv stepped up to do what was necessary and created something special for us all. The community. It was immediately received with high praise and folks clearly loved the idea. The people had chosen its leader. It was our early version of this package.

Once I was passed on the maintainership, I had a dream of a unified and succinct script set that would be easy to maintain, to understand and would do all that was required. It took me 2 weeks just to get the first overdue version out. It was my first big Bash script. I followed up with every single automation tweak that I knew I could possibly do that without break things. That wasn't trivial because some of these were system-wide changes.

Since then that has *changed* and as mentioned before, I wanted people to learn more about the build process which I've kept automating for them, allowing me to stop bumping this never ending thing.

But now, somebody with the interest that I still don't have gave it the much needed defibrillation, and as such am relinquishing this thing completely to the new maintainer: rains.

I'll still be involved in the maintenance of the Wiki from time to time, which is often much more straightforward.
