- The Panel Attack tournament Saturday was pretty cool to get into again. I am not comfortable at speed levels 8 or 10 (Tetris Attack Hard/V-Hard is the highest I’m regularly exposed to at 6), but the opportunity to play a few of the 20 others who are in the same boat feels like a dream come true that I got distracted from thanks to my speedrunning, which is ironic considering I started speedrunning Pokemon Puzzle League five years ago to compete against others in the game. In any case, there are people playing Panel Attack daily over at the Tetris Attack Online Discord. Go there if you feel like testing your skills. If I’m in a good mood, I may even be open for a game. https://discordapp.com/invite/fz5sKGm
- Last time, my Tetris Attack V-Hard average for the previous week was 9:11. After last week, it is now 9:14. I went from one run over 10 minutes every 10 attempts to one every 6 attempts. When the goal is to be consistent, you can’t have a bunch of runs like that. There is still plenty of time to work on that before the tournament. Signups are open now, by the way. Took Forky long enough. https://twitter.com/PuzzleGeneral/status/1025482748516032512
- I will also be playing a bit more Touhou Puzzle League in the coming weeks as it has been selected for inclusion in the next Big Bad Gameathon that starts September 14. It is, by far, the worst game I play and I’m glad to be able to show it off to a wider audience. If you are a fan of entertainingly bad games and want to see what else BBG will have to offer, check out their website: http://www.bigbadgameathon.com/bbg2018/
- In case you haven’t heard (and I’m not sure how you couldn’t have heard if you’re already following me), this weekend, I am going to pay off a subscriber incentive and learn how to play the SNES version of Wario’s Woods! If a game requires me to press more than one button to do things other than move, I generally take a stupid long amount of time to adapt. I would like to finish a VS COM run in under 30 minutes before moving on from the game, but I don’t know how many streams that will take. I can tell you that the first one will be this Saturday, the 11th. It will start sometime in the afternoon, but I have errands to run that day so it could start a bit late. I will update you when that does start.
- In other stream news, Twitch affiliates were just given access to customize some of their subscriber badges: new subs, three-month loyalty, six-month loyalty, and one-year loyalty. You won’t need two guesses as to what I have used. No, I don’t care that altabiscuit already has similar badges. He said he wants to change them, anyway. What else is more appropriate for me, anyway? Really?
- I have also run into a problem with KapChat, my preferred choice for showing Twitch chat on stream. Text does not always align correctly vertical-wise and some emotes appear really small for… reasons. I am open to a different option for displaying chat. In a perfect world, I would use Streamlabs’s chat box with Streamlabs OBS, but I have no idea how to add the time stamp and I would really like the time stamp to appear in the message. I have an idea for a workaround that I may remember to use this week.
- In other gaming news, I have completed the main story of Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology. Thanks to Friendly mode, it actually took me less time than my playthrough of the original. I’m not sure how Atlus managed to improve the original so much, but there are enough quality-of-life improvements and additional storytelling elements that I consider this remake to be a success. I would have been content to not pursue a speedrun of the game. Then I got to the endgame and saw that New Game Plus was a thing. Now I feel obligated to build up stats to do a proper New Game Plus run. The one thing that holds me back is the fact that the Pokemon community has banned software capture for their 3DS game leaderboards. There are several more 3DS games that I could consider running, but if those communities follow suit, then I will have to upgrade to hardware capture, anyway, if I want to compete. I’m not sure I’m ready to blow up to $500 on that yet. I’m pretty sure I’m also gonna have to send my 3DS overseas for it to get done, either way, which I’m still not entirely comfortable with.
- In personal news, I have started walking more in an attempt to find more ways to exercise. If I can’t figure out ways to eat better, I might as well move better. I don’t feel comfortable walking around in my neighborhood, not when there have been documented cases of shots being fired nearby, so I have been finding time before work and during my lunch break to walk around the office for 10-15 minutes at a time. Any more than that and my calves ache for days. That’s on top of the 20-40 minutes of biking I do every day. If I can actually trust my bathroom scale, then I’ve lost 8 pounds in two weeks. I do have to wonder, though, if I’m putting my tiny feet through too much stress holding up my fat ass even more than usual.
- That's my life story for the week. Until next time, everyone, thanks for reading!
