ੈ PERSONALITY |
• despite all her trainee years, rina's stamina still isn't all that great so she gets tired very easily, especially when she's running on just a few hours of sleep.

• she's a bit on the shyer side, and being an introvert doesn't help, but she tries her best at engaging with others; once she's comfortable around someone she opens up more and "steps out of her shell" but she always needs a certain "safety distance" (in terms of emotions) and some time for herself every once in a while.

• her "emotional safety distance" tends to make her a bit flighty, and when things go in a more sour direction with someone she has a tendecy to start avoiding that person, hoping that somehow the issue will solve itself or the other person will make the first move.

• despite her shyness she's still very friendly and outgoing in her own way, and she loves to make other people feel happy, whether it be by making them laugh or simply listening to them when they want to talk; more often than not others just wish to talk and she'll happily sit with them and listen, which has resulted in her taking a liking to getting to know other people and what goes on in their lives a bit too much; if there's drama, rina is always the first to know, and while she never partakes in the drama, always staying neutral, she's constantly in the know. if you wanna befriend rina, let her in on some hot gossip.

• despite being in a very competitive and exhausting industry, where pressure and stress are part of every day, she still tends to get a bit freaked out when put under pressure, and although she always tries her best, when under pressure she tends to unconsciously do things a bit sloppier.

• when the stress really gets too much, rina gets upset to the point where she starts slacking off immensely and she usually needs someone to calm her down and keep her feet grounded before she throws all her efforts away.

• she's usually very positive, and persistent, one could say almost too persistent; don't let rina around a claw machine after she doesn't get what she wants in the first try, because she will empty her wallet completely by believing in herself a bit too much and continuously trying to get her desired item.

• both in her native language and in korean (especially in korean) sometimes words fail her, more often than not she's speechless, and it's not even because she doesn't have a good vocabulary (which in japanese she certainly does and is aiming for in korean); rina doesn't know how to react to certain things, she's either afraid she'll show too much emotion, not enough, or she's simply caught off guard.

• rina isn't religious or a follower of anything, really, but she finds no harm in letting herself dream about magic every once in a while and trying to find it in the odd little things that happen in her days.

• rina loves it when people do little things for her, like when her fellow trainees buy her her favourite cake when they notice she's upset or, even when busy, her old friends text her to check on her or encourage her; she thinks love is in the little things.

• rina is incredibly fond of dad jokes and funny laughs and something she hopes to achieve in her korean skills is be able to make the same jokes she loves and make others laugh.

• she's very family inclined and she misses her brother and parents a lot; she got a bit distant from her father when he didn't want to let her stay in korea and pursue her dream career and it saddens her, but she hopes to reconnect with him in the future; she has a good relationship with her mom but she's attached to her brother the most; rina and shiro text regulary and it gives her more motivation to keep working hard by knowing her brother is also working hard in college ( he's majoring in mechanical engineering ).

• she adapts to different situations very easily, moving from japan to south korea wasn't as much of a big deal to her as it could be to other people, and the same applied when she changed companies. even with people, she can adapt quite well to the different people she meets.

ੈ BACKGROUND |
rina was born in nagano, japan, on december 18th, 1999, two years after her older brother, shiro. her father was (and to this day still is) a chef, who owned a restaurant not too far from her home, and her mother a high school chemistry teacher.
her family was never one to pay much attention to performing arts, but ever since she was a young child rina would stop in her tracks whenever she heard music coming from somewhere and she'd lose herself in the melody. for her 8th birthday she asked her parents for an acoustic guitar and later on also enrolled in piano lessons. in elementary school she met a boy named yuto who was also interested in music like she was, and so she made her first friend, as they bonded over music and continously shared interests.
her parents found the music hobby cute but always imagined their daughter would pursue a scientific or linguistics career. so it was a shock to them when rina, after spending a vacation with her aunt (on her mother's side) in south korea, told them she wanted to audition for an entertainment company there. her father did not want her to pursue a career in entertainment, let alone in another country, while her mother was more neutral, and just wanted her daughter to be safe and happy, so she talked to her husband and entrusted rina's care to her sister, hiyori, who owned a few clothing stores in south korea.
rina auditioned for jyp and was accepted there, where she was a trainee for 5 years. she reunited with her childhood friend yuto, tried her best in school and in learning korean as she also improved her singing and dancing skills, but she felt as if her efforts weren't acknowledged, being told she'd debut soon for a long time yet never doing so. plus, her friends had already left the company, so she was feeling lonely and ended up auditioning for sm. she was accepted, and while she was sad about leaving jyp, she wanted to achieve her goal of debuting sooner and hoped to do that in sm.

ੈ HOW DID YOU GET INTO SM? | after five years spent as a trainee in jyp, she felt lonely and hopeless. her dream of debuting seemed to get farther and farther away from her but she didn't want to let her efforts go to waste, so she auditioned for sm. she auditioned with an acoustic version of snsd's lion heart, where she sang and played the guitar, and despite her spoken korean not being the best, she did well when singing it.

• she tries her best to make her expressions suit the song, if it's a cheerful song she'll try to smile a lot and overall give off a cheery vibe, if it's a sexier or darker song she'll put on a more "sultry" expression.

• like a butterfly, she seems to fly on stage. even though dance isn't her specialty, she puts a lot of effort into practice and it pays off on stage.

• one of the members that the fans can't help but keep their eyes on seeing as she gives it her complete all on stage, like a witch she enchants them.

she's usually very giggly, mostly due to the nerves, as she's always very nervous, pressuring herself to do good. rina doesn't say much since her korean still lacks a lot, but she tries her best at giving good reactions. when the mcs approach her at first she gets very flustered and doesn't know what to say, given that not only doesn't she have that good of a grasp of korean but also she gets so nervous that all words leave her brain. still, she tries to partake in the activities they suggest.

ੈ HOW DO YOU FIRST START INTERACTING? | rina found herself alone in the practice room, and when she took a break, what better thing to do to entertain herself than look up jokes in korean. so there she was, sitting on the floor of the practice room, reading jokes out loud, when he entered the room, thinking it was empty. rina didn't notice him though, and she only did when he laughed at one of the jokes she read. she was caugh off guard and immediately got very flustered, not knowing what she should do. eventually she just introduced herself and tried explaining what she was doing, 1) looking up jokes because she likes them and 2) trying to improve her korean with something she likes.
