  1. Narrative Outline
  2.
  3. - Opening line alluding to change and whether to use power for the benefit others or to pursue an ideal.
  4.
  5. - Eavan speaks with the Valrean general inside a tent about their plans for a joint defense against Rigel's allied invasion.
  6. - Subtle exposition about the Valrean Empire, Eavan's mercenary company - the Ebonguard, and scions (persons who have inherited bloodline abilities).
  7. - Eavan concludes the discussion and speaks with her companion, Gareth, outside the tent.
  8. - Gareth has a casual discussion that reveals more personal nuances about the two characters.
  9. - Both characters depart the Valrean encampment and head for the Ebonguard outpost.
  10.
  11. - Evening scene with Gareth readying a campfire on a cliffside while Eavan practices ice magic on her surroundings.
  12. - Gareth indicates that their outpost can be seen off in the horizon and that they should arrive in the morning after resting.
  13. - Discussion about how apprehensive they are and more subtle exposition on Eavan's abilities and what they expect from Rigel's troops.
  14. - A sudden gust of wind and rainstorm hits them without warning. Both are clueless as to the cause.
  15. - Off in the distance, a light signal or flare is shot from the Ebonguard outpost signifying the start of an engagement.
  16. - The two immediately rush to the outpost.
  17.
  18. - The two arrive at a smoldering outpost at night. The rain has mysteriously stopped moments earlier.
  19. - Rigel's troops are picking off the remaining scattered Ebonguard mercenaries.
  20. - Two of Rigel's soldiers kill an Ebonguard soldier as Eavan and Gareth engage them in the game's first battle.
  21. - Gareth confirms that the dead Ebonguard is a friend of theirs named Baird. Eavan starts to lose her cool as Jair reassures her that they'll save the others.
  22. - As they skirmish deeper into the camp, they come across Jeanne - the company's medic, who is wounded and resting aganist a wall.
  23. - Jeanne tells them the Ebonguard was caught completely unaware by the preemptive arrival of Rigel's troops and the sudden storm preventing them from reacting.
  24. - Jeanne instructs Eavan to take her remaining Healing Salves, and the player learns how to refill consumables at a nearby campfire.
  25. - Jeanne then implores the two to find the commander and save any other survivors. She puts on a brave face and tells them she'll pull through.
  26. - As they continue their search, the two come across another Ebonguard soldier, Welde, who is fighting three soldiers on his own.
  27. - Welde downs a soldier but is mortally wounded by another. Gareth rushes to Welde's aid while telling Eavan to get to the commander.
  28. - The player receives a choice to assist Gareth against his wishes or journey onwards.
  29. - If the player chooses to assist Gareth, they kill the remaining soldiers, but Gareth can't bring himself to leave Welde to die without trying to administer aid.
  30. - Insert some reactionary dialogue choice, but regardless, Gareth leaves the party, and Eavan must carry on alone.
  31. - As Eavan makes her way deeper into the outpost, she eventually finds Commander Lorenzo being beaten and threatened by Rigel and a cloaked female figure. Eavan concludes the two must both be scions but is shocked how inhuman they look since non-human physical traits are extremely rare even amongst scions.
  32. - The player receives a choice to surrender herself in the hopes they'll spare Lorenzo or wait for an opportunity to strike.
  33. - If the player chooses to surrender, Rigel tells Lorenzo he's no longer needed and kills him. Eavan is taken aback but doesn't have time to collect herself as Rigel directs the cloaked figure to subdue her. (Undecided whether to play out a scene with Eavan losing or have Eavan face a 2v1 unwinnable boss battle).
  34. - If the player chooses to wait for an opportunity, Rigel will demonstrate his bloodline ability of mental domination (implanting a geas? placeholder concept for now) where he probes Lorenzo for information regarding the Valrean reinforcements and information on their scion, Eavan. Hearing that an overpowering Valrean army is approaching the outpost, Rigel sends the cloaked figure to destroy the roads leading to the area. Eavan later launches a surprise attack which injures Rigel, has him kill Lorenzo in anger, and initiates a 1v1 boss battle. Losing results in the next scene. Winning offers a bonus scene where Rigel is caught offguard by Eavan's strength and struggles to hold off against her spells until the cloaked figure returns to intervene.
  35. - Eavan is overwhelmed with rage but is retrained by either Rigel or the cloaked figure (depending on earlier outcome). Rigel uses his bloodline ability to passify Eavan and begins probing her for information (depending on earlier outcome). Rigel decides to use Eavan to combat the incoming Valrean reinforcements and begins channeling his relic on her.
  36. - While Rigel is forcing Eavan to undergo a transformation sequence, she struggles to understand how Rigel is capable of doing such a thing. Rigel tells her that the relic allows him to restore a scion's ancient bloodline and awaken a portion of their latent power; a bloodline that has been diluted over generations of breeding with humans can be regenerated to an extent. He tells her that with this relic, he'll restore his extinct race and reclaim what was taken away from them by the Valrean Empire.
  37. - As the transformation progressses, Rigel is impressed at how pure Eavan's bloodline must be for her to materialize most of the physical attributes of an elemental dragon. He expresses his disappointment that they could not have met under different circumstances to convince her to join his cause willingly. Realizing reconciliation with Eavan isn't possible, Rigel begins to channel his bloodline ability to compel her to obey his commands. Eavan struggles to resist as she feels her mind being invaded.
  38. - Gareth intervenes (evading a lightning spell from the cloaked figure if she's still there) and strikes Rigel while he's channeling. Gareth continues bearing down on Rigel but is easily overpowered by Rigel or struck in the back by the cloaked figure. Rigel delivers the killing the blow as Gareth struggles but is unable to say his last words to Eavan. Eavan is at a loss and can't control the mixture of grief and rage she's experiencing.
  39. - Eavan, now free from Rigel's spell, goes into a frenzy. She breaks through Rigel's protective barriers and mortally wounds him - leaving large cuts across his torso.
  40. - The cloaked figure attempts to save Rigel (or arrives to save him) by using lightning to weaken Eavan.
  41. - Eavan attempts to endure the magic but is unable to press further.
  42. - Rigel curses about being careless before pass out. Rigel's soldiers then arrive on the scene after hearing Eavan's roars and begin to attack her. The cloaked figure carries Rigel away and retreats as Eavan is left with the soldiers.
  43. - Eavan threatens to kill them all and proclaims she'll do whatever's necessary to avenge her friends.
  44. - The scene ends with Eavan surrounded by the soldiers and the view panning up to leave the outcome up to interpretation. The title "Relics of Humanity" comes up to signify the end of the prologue and start of the game.
  45.
  46. ***End First Alpha Build for Testing***
  47.
  48. - After a black transition with an indication that two weeks have passed.
  49. - The scene opens with a boar peacefully drinking from a tranquil pond until it's alerted by the sound of branches breaking.
  50. - Eavan springs into view and tackles the boar killing it.
  51. - Eavan uses her fire breath to roast the corpse (Still deciding if Eavan can use both fire and ice breath. This would mainly be for game mechanics allowing the player to exploit elemental weaknesses and a feature of the next boss fight - not sure if it's immersion-breaking or still worth keeping as a mechanic). She begins feeding on her kill. As she makes her way to the pond to drink, she sees her reflection and is repulsed by it. There is a player choice for her reaction to the situation. Eavan has more thoughts subtly revealing to the player that her goal is to continue towards (currently unnamed territory) which is the area where one of Rigel's primary allies has been spotted.
  52. - Eavan begins as a low-level Frost Dragon class and the player navigates the wilderness/forest along a linear path.
  53. - Along the way, she notices someone calling out and is instantly on guard.
  54. - She ambushes and tackles the unknown figure and threatens him for information.
  55. - Jerome, crying and pleading for his life, breaks down while trying to get Eavan to recognize him. Eavan notices that Jerome is someone she knows and releases him.
  56. - Jerome, now collecting himself, reveals to Eavan that he was hiding under some debris while the outpost was under attack. He subtly indicates that he was the local provisioner for the Ebonguard and was caught up in the events that occurred during the prologue.
  57. - Eavan asks him why he decided to pursue her and how he managed to keep up. Jerome reveals that he's an obsessive archaelogist and has a fascination with scions. He wanted to dedicate himself to Eavan's cause since he believes her actions are going to make a lasting impact on the world.
  58. - Jerome follows Eavan and serves as the merchant and blacksmith for the player to craft upgrades. He also serves as comic relief and acts as a source of exposition for the player. Since he's a foreigner to Valreas, the player can pursue optional discussions where he questions Eavan for answers/explanations of the world.
  59. - Eavan proceeds forward while Jerome trails behind her by each zone since he needs to move the camp and setup his equipment. The player can choose to wait and have Jerome setup at each campfire.
  60.
  61. - Eventually, Eavan and Jerome come upon a clearing with several dead Valrean soldiers scattered around. The player notices a survivor calling out for water and can choose to come to his aid.
  62. - Speaking with the soldier causes a tripwire to activate and detonate nearby explosives. Eavan is hurt, and Jerome implores her to wait while he rushes to get healing supplies from his cart. As he's speaking, a crossbow bolt pierces his arm.
  63. - The figure who set the trap steps out from the shadows. He reveals himself as a scion tasked by Rigel to hunt down Eavan and eliminate her.
  64. - Garm is a scion with minor werewolf-like features (more human), and serves as Rigel's tracker and reconnaissance. He states how fortunate Eavan is for having avoided being dominated by Rigel since he himself is under the same power of compulsion. He then states how unfortunate for her that she's his target. Although he is under Rigel's influence, he has grown to accept it since it allows him to relish in the kill of powerful enemies.
  65. - Jerome becomes frightened and flees the scene with his bloody arm. Garm reassures Eavan that he'll deal with the coward later.
  66. - Eavan engages Garm in a boss fight with a 50% Maximum HP penalty. When Garm is down to 25% HP, he gets serious and uses his bloodline ability of massive regeneration. He also reveals to Eavan that Rigel sent him not only because he could track her but also because his body is highly resistant to cold so his abilities counters her own.
  67. - After several turns with the player experiencing what seems to be an unwinnable fight, Jerome shows up unexpectantly and throws a flask at Garm.
  68. - Garm is splattered with the contents and despite struggling with it, he can't get it out of his fur. He then realizes he's been doused with oil.
  69. - Jerome tells Eavan to burn him, and the player is given a full Limit meter to use "Breath Weapon: Fire". This removes Garm's regeneration buff and inflicts him with a severe burning DoT. The player can then win the battle normally.
  70. - The boss battle ends, and the player is shown a scene with Garm smoldering while Eavan breaks his back with a charge. After some dialogue, Garm tells her to finish him off as part of a mercy kill.
  71. - The player can choose to mercy kill him or threaten to leave him to suffer if he doesn't offer her information on Rigel's allies in the area.
  72. - If the player chooses to press Garm for information, he'll reveal the location and abilities of Nives, a scion of (currently unnamed faction) who is marshaling her troops to meet up with Rigel's main army. Nives's bloodline ablility of lacing her weapons with different types of secreted poisons as well as her heightened reactions will be revealed to the player. Eavan then kills Garm with little remorse.
  73.
  74. ***End First Beta Build for Testing***
  75.
  76. - Further into the target territory, Eavan comes across a Valrean captain/scion, Sandra, being held captive and rendered paralyzed by poison. Her captor is Nives who has been givin a relic fragment by Rigel. Nives herself has scales across her skin, slit pupils, and a forked tongue, but is mostly human otherwise. Nives is first seen testing how far she can drive Sandra's transformation with the relic. She reveals that although the relic can restore bloodline traits, a scion with insufficient (ancient blood-levels? placeholder term) will be unable to maintain a greater form and die.
  77. - Nives pushes Sandra's transformation further where she begins to grow an extra set of legs to denote she's becoming a centaur. Nives mentions that should Sandra survive the transformation, she'll be used as an offering for Rigel who will dominate her for his cause. In exchange, Nives's faction will be granted more territory once Valreas is defeated. Eventually, Sandra's transformation is completed with her becoming a white (placeholder color until decided) centaur where her upperbody is colored white as well.
  78. - Eavan sends Jerome away and intervenes - with the player deciding whether Eavan chooses to fight out of moral obligation or brash overconfidence.
  79. - Nives is revealed to be the leader of a group of specialized assassins that hunt down enemy scions. They also killed the Valreans near Garm earlier in order to capture Sandra.
  80. - The player engages Nives in multiple encounters in an enclosed area with Nives being assisted by her assassins. The assassins and Nives will attack with bleed/poison effects to wear down the player. When the assassins get low on health, they will often flee the battle and reengage the player later - whereas Nives will always flee at 50% Health to heal herself away from the player.
  81. - After several fights, Eavan begins to tire from fatigue and her injuries. She admits to herself that it was foolish of her to act without thinking things through and begins to believe she's going to die in this engagement.
  82. - Sandra recovers her voice and struggles to tell Eavan to cut her bindings.
  83. - Eavan fights through several more soldiers, or the player can avoid them using the terrain to rush to Sandra.
  84. - Eavan cuts Sandra's bindings which results in Sandra collapsing to the ground. Eavan tells her that she's at her limit and that she doesn't believe Sandra is in a condition to fight either. Sandra begins channeling her bloodline ability to purify herself from the poison and then launches an arcane arrow into Eavan. Eavan at first believes it to be an attack, but then realizes the the arrow has healed her wounds.
  85. - Sandra reveals that her bloodline ablility allows her to materialize a bow out of pure magical energy. She can also alter her arrows for different purposes. Sandra joins the party and serves as the healer, support, and debuffer.
  86. - Unable to make a proper introduction since they're still under attack, the two quickly reorient themselves for the fight.
  87. - Nives and her assassins attack with hit-and-run tactics again, but Sandra fires arrows that slay some of them before they can get away.
  88. - Nives herself is beginning to get pressed and has to deal with Sandra's ability to guide the trajectory of her arrows after loosing them.
  89. - Injured and taking refuge behind cover, Nives resolves to use the relic fragment to take her transformation beyond its limits to win. Her assassins implore her to retreat instead but she demands that they buy her time to unlock her form.
  90. - Nives eventually gains the form of a marilith with 4 arms and the lower body of a large snake. Her torso and face is more reptilian with a very slight muzzle (like the Vipers from X-Com?). Her troops recognize her form as the creature from their legends and are at awe that Nives could attain it. However, Nives reels in pain as she begins to distengrate since it's a form she can't sustain. Regardless of the dismay shown by her troops, she rights herself up and demands that they give her their weapons. She then wields a total of 4 weapons and resolves to kill Eavan and Sandra before expiring herself.
  91. - Sandra suggests to Eavan that they retreat and let Nives disintegrate without risking a fight. However, Nives demonstrates incredible speed in her new body and engages the two before they can formulate a strategy.
  92. - The boss fight has Nives continually losing HP to show she's dying but has her increase all other stats. Additionally, Nives now applies stacking venom and bleed effects with 4 attacks per turn. Once Nives reaches 10% HP, she realizes she's about to die but has finally mastered her heightened senses bloodline ability which allows her perfect evasion from all attacks and haste for speed.
  93. - The two realize they're unable to get the upperhand or finish Nives, so Sandra postulates that her own transformation into a centaur may have unlocked an ability she couldn't master in the past. Sandra implores Eavan to guard her as she charges her arcane arrow for 5 turns. Nives won't allow Sandra to complete her focus and attacks her, but Eavan gains a temporary cover mechanic and must allow Sandra to survive (Sort of an homage to the DBZ Goku Piccolo vs Raditz fight).
  94. - Sandra looses a continual volley of arcane arrows which Nives anticipates with her senses and dodges them all. As Nives scoffs at the attempt and moves in for a killing blow, Sandra activates another bloodline ability which creates energy tethers between her missed arrows and ensnares Nives.
  95. - Sandra then collapses and implores Eavan to finish the boss off. Eavan is given a full Limit gage and the player must use her breath weapon to finally kill Nives.
  96.
  97. - With Nives defeated, the two collapse from exhaustion and are finally able to formally introduce themselves. The player learns of Sandra's affiliation with the Valrean Empire and get to see that she's a stoic, hardened soldier lacking general empathy (her character is intended to embody the Valrean Empire's own morality and have the player decide whether they agree with it or will try to change Sandra's opinion later on).
  98. - Sandra and Eavan catch their breath, whereupon Sandra retrieves the relic fragment. She states she was tracking the holder of the fragment, Nives, in order to get the relic back to Valreas for analysis. Sandra has learned an incredible amount of lore having access to valreas's hidden records and reveals to Eavan her knowledge of the elemental dragons.
  99. - Sandra indicates that the elemental dragons could take on humanoid forms in order to focus and utilize magic - their draconic form was used for physical strength and would dampen magic as a sort of passive defense. Sandra suggests that if Eavan is willing to risk unlocking her bloodline traits further, she may attain the shapeshifting ability. Eavan agrees to it - the player deciding on her incentive, and Sandra channels the relic on her.
  100. - Eavan transforms into a monstergirl-type with sky-blue skin, ice scales, wings, horns, and a tail, but she is now upright and mostly human. She's speechless when she feels her mastery over magic return and sends an iceblast off in the distance. The increased power shocks her, but Eavan regains her composure and thanks Sandra.
  101. - Sandra then questions Eavan's intent, which the player will dictate. Sandra will offer her assistance and the assistance of the Valrean Empire.
  102. - The game demo then presents an ending with a fullscreen picture of Sandra and Eavan clasping hands and agreeing to defeat Rigel together. (Still deciding whether to have Jerome arrive after Eavan's transformation to break up the tension with him being overjoyed that they survived and that they have another beautiful scion to journey with).
