  1. Blue's team looked very bad at first with little type variation and low speed without access to Trick Room. However, she actually does have a pokemon to fill each role in a team. The result is a bulky offense team with every member being able to tank and deal damage.

  6. # Jiggly: Budget Blissey
  7.
  8. I had the most trouble figuring out a role for Jiggly. Wigglytuff has amazing base HP... but awful defenses, speed, and mediocre offense. The only set on Smogon tries to use her amazing ability in Competitive, which punishes defoggers and intimidators HARD. However, Jiggly died way too easily with no defense EVs, and she outsped almost nobody even with max EV.
  9.
  10. Next, I tried making her a full support with Wish and Protect to capitalize on her high HP. However, even with max defense EVs, she got 2HKO by almost everyone. She had to use Wish for herself usually, so she accomplished nearly nothing.
  11.
  12. Finally, since Bulu already provides physical defense, I had the idea to turn Jiggly into a budget Blissey with a potential to punish defoggers. This worked surprisingly well because almost every defoggers are special attackers. Honestly though, Jiggly still dies pretty easily, but a lot of opponents freak out and make bad decisions when they Defog and see 2x SpA.
  13.
  14. - Dazzling Gleam: More useful than Hyper Voice because the most common special attacker in OU is Ash-Greninja. Also Lati@s defogs a lot.
  15. - Knock Off: Mainly for Chansey, who walls the whole team hard because only Bulu does physical attack. Also hilariously 2HKOs Alakazam.
  16. - Thunder Wave: Used to be Psychic for Mega-Venusaur, but Venusaur can out-heal it. Paralyzing Venusaur and letting others handle it is better. Paralysis is also the only answer for Tapu Lele.
  17. - Stealth Rock: COME DEFOG.
  18.
  19. * Stats: Jiggly always survives Psyshock from Tapu Lele without Specs with 16 defense EVs. Since she outspeeds no one anyway, I also gave her the lowest possible speed to make her useful vs Trick Room and Gyro Balls.
  20.
  21.
  22. # Bulu: Physical Tank
  23.
  24. Nearly every OU team has strong physical attackers, making a physical wall mandatory. With Intimidate, Bulu can tank even steel attacks like a boss... once or twice. Unfortunately, Granbull is no Skarmory. He has no recovery, and his defense is okay but not enough to avoid 2HKO from monsters like Kartana and Mega-Mawile. Still, since most of the team is somewhat bulky, -1 Atk is often enough to let a teammate switch in.
  25.
  26. Also has very bad special defense. Even Scald from Toxapex does about 25%. Gamefreak buff Granbull's defenses plz.
  27.
  28. Normalium Z is for Z Heal Bell, which gives Bulu a heal he desperately needs. It also lets him switch into Knock Off easily.
  29.
  30. - Play Rough: STAB.
  31. - Earthquake: Hits most steel types and Toxapex hard. Bulu can survive 1 non-steel, non-Z attack from Heatran, so he can get a surprise OHKO on it.
  32. - Close Combat: Almost exclusively for Chansey. MUST knock off Eviolite first to out-damage Soft-Boiled.
  33. - Heal Bell: Support, heal.
  34.
  35. * Stats: The 44 speed EVs are for outspeeding Chansey.
  36.
  37.
  38. # Blasty: Tank with a Cannon
  39.
  40. The backbone of the team. With Mega, Blasty has amazing overall bulk that lets him tank almost everything. Most notably, he resists steel when half of the team is fairy type. Blasty also has Rapid Spin, letting his teammates switch in more often. This is especially important for Ditty.
  41.
  42. Once he's in, Blasty can really lay down the hurt. Water and dark combination is resisted only by 2 Tapus and Greninja in OU. Ice beam covers Tapu Bulu. Greninja does not like tanking even resisted hits, and weakened Greninja lets Ditty copy him and sweep. That leaves only Tapu Fini, who Nido will hopefully handle.
  43.
  44. - Scald: Hydro Pump is too unreliable, and Water Pulse is only 10 BP stronger. Scald burn memes.
  45. - Dark Pulse: Strongest possible coverage. Flinch hax is also clutch vs Toxapex.
  46. - Ice Beam: For hitting grass switch ins and Zapdos.
  47. - Rapid Spin: Hazard control.
  48.
  49. * Stats: The speed EVs let Blasty outspeed most defensive pokemons like Landorus-T and Rotom-W.
  50.
  51.
  52. # Ditty: The Joker
  53.
  54. Much like in the manga, Ditty really thrives on mind games and fits Blue's personality perfectly.
  55.
  56. OU is full of pokemons that can OHKO themselves, and people really love set-up sweepers in low ELO. After baiting them into KO'ing a teammate, Ditty can easily revenge kill them and even sweep under right conditions.
  57.
  58. Ditty can also come in safely vs a lot of walls and scout their moves. This is especially important vs Ferrothorn, who can hit the teammates hard with Gyro Ball or Power Whip.
  59.
  60. Oh, also, Sticky Web users like Araquanid and Shuckle on the enemy team means free web for me.
  61.
  62. * Stats: The IVs are for Hidden Power Ground because the only time I found myself using Hidden Power is vs Magnezone, who threatens 4 of the team. Ditty can come in on Magnezone easily and trap it rofl.
  63.
  64.
  65. # Clefy: Calm Mind
  66.
  67. The classic Calm Mind sweeper. Clefy can also tank quite a lot of neutral hits and heal up.
  68.
  69. His ability used to be Unaware because people in low ELO often have no idea about Unaware and get into set-up wars against Clefy. This no longer worked at slightly higher ELO, and balance/stall teams became more common, so I switched to Magic Guard to counter Toxic.
  70.
  71. - Calm Mind: Set-up.
  72. - Moonblast: STAB.
  73. - Flamethrower: Pokemons 4x weak to fire are pretty common in OU, and multiple teammates can handle Heatran.
  74. - Soft-Boiled: Heal.
  75.
  76. * Stats: Max defense to make her impossible to OHKO after Calm Mind.
  77.
  78.
  79. # Nido: Bulldozer
  80.
  81. Nido probably gets the most KOs on average. Sheer Force is one hell of an ability with Nido's excellent coverage. She hits almost every walls HARD.
  82.
  83. She used to have Toxic Spikes, but then, the team struggled vs steel-type walls. With few heals, this team does not do well in long games anyway.
  84.
  85. - Earth Power: For Toxapex, Heatran, Magearna.
  86. - Sludge Wave: Strongest STAB. 2HKO almost anything without resist. Also for Tapus, especially Fini.
  87. - Ice Beam: For Landorus-T, Zapdos.
  88. - Fire Blast: For Celesteela, Ferrothorn.
  89.
  90. * Stats: Timid ensures Nido can outspeed any Tapu Bulu without Scarf.
  91.
  92.
  93. # Threats
  94.
  95. * Tapu Lele: None of the team resists her Psyshock/Psychic, and Ditty can only do around 50% with Moonblast. Tapu Lele with Specs can easily sweep the whole team.
  96.
  97. * Mega-Venusaur: With no flying or psychic pokemons, none of the team can easily break through Venusaur. To make things worse, only Ditty can resist Giga Drain, and it can't do much damage to Venusaur.
  98.
  99. * Chansey/Gastrodon: With only Bulu doing physical damage, special walls are very hard to take down.
