  1. Thanks for attention.
  2.
  3. notes:
  4.
  5. If I simply downgrade kernel back to 5.3.1, Xorg starts properly again.
  6.
  7. versions:
  8.
  9. media-libs/mesa-19.3.0_rc5
  10. x11-base/xorg-server-1.20.6
  11. x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev-2.10.6
  12. x11-drivers/xf86-input-keyboard-1.9.0
  13. x11-drivers/xf86-input-libinput-0.29.0
  14. x11-drivers/xf86-input-mouse-1.9.3
  15. x11-drivers/xf86-video-vesa-2.4.0
  16.
  17. * Xorg.1.log
  18.
  19. [  7139.189] (EE) No devices detected.
  20. [  7139.189] (EE) no screens found(EE)
  21.
  22. fbdev tried first but fallback to modesetting (I had installed
  23. xf86-video-fbdev but have again uninstalled it, as it is useless)

  28.
  29. when, still on 5.3.1, I applied chewitt's
  30.
  31. https://github.com/chewitt/linux/commit/d0a03a1870329ebd76ab6affcfa3f103183ea771
  32.  and
  33. https://github.com/chewitt/linux/commit/5c46c60ef67f0d417ea29602e21f435b5da19a3e
  34.
  35. Xorg would -also- fail to start (and panfrost would init but still
  36. have ‘GPU Fault 0x… (UNKNOWN) at 0x...’.
  37.
  38. None of these 2 commits can easily be undone by me to test effect
  39. since code changed a lot.
  40.
  41.  <wild guess>
  42. I guess panfrost kernel and panfrost mesa work is just
  43. fine. previously I guess it was not used (because not even
  44. initialized) but now that it is initialized it is perhaps used but it
  45. fails.
  46.  </wild guess>
