  1.
  2. [03:05:16] * Mrs_Curlinson has quit (Ping timeout)
  3. [03:09:52] * Marguerite is now known as jinx[crackedinhalf]
  4. [03:16:24] * jinx[crackedinhalf] is now known as Marguerite
  5. [03:21:08] <consilium> There's a shufling noise, very brief, behind an information desk. The sobbing raises in pitch briefly before falling silent.
  6. [03:21:57] * Marguerite sags, then locks on the information desk. She approaches it, taking a deep breath. "Bon--Hello?" She asks, clearing her throat.
  7. [03:22:30] * Ben_McCormmick curses under his breathe at the child, shot, and wandering around the terminal. He moves to cover her.
  8. [03:25:02] * Yue is now known as Amy
  9. [03:25:49] <consilium> The whimpering noise behind the information desk picks up briefly in response to the call.
  10. [03:26:45] * Marguerite steps around the desk, swallowing hard. She peers in to see who it is whimpering . . .
  11. [03:29:37] <Amy> With Curlinson unconscious (not for the last time; she has to repeat that), Amy's gone back to the terrorist. She shakes her awake, and could have stood to be a little less gentle about it. "Awake. Now."
  12. [03:29:42] <consilium> A middle-aged man in a rumpled white shirt and slacks clutches his leg, staring up at Marguerite. "Y-you gotta get outta here! Don'cha know what happened?" He keeps his voice low, but his panic is scrawled onn his face.
  13. [03:31:09] * Marguerite kneels, a bit of blood dripping on the floor from her head wound, which she pays no mind.. "The man I am looking for is a doctor," she says, voice muted. "I am a member of NERV. Have you seen a Doctor Morrissette?" She asks. She doubts it.
  14. [03:33:18] <consilium> The frightened man stares up at Marguerite, clearly confused. "Nno, no I don't know where any doctors are . . . Can you help me outta here? I hurt my leg in the rush . . . people everywhere, I got run over . . ."
  15. [03:34:54] <consilium> The wounded woman wakens slowly, glancing quickly, then taking in Amy's uninform. "Wh-what the--fuck!" She struggles, kicking clumsily at Amy to get away.
  16. [03:34:55] * Marguerite shakes her head. "Sorry." She waves to Ben. "Lieutenant." She gestures behind the counter. "I assume you know more about dressing wounds." She takes a deep breath, closes her eyes for a moment, steadies herself, and turns away, sprinting deep into the terminal.
  17. [03:35:55] * Ben_McCormmick addresses Marguerite without turning, "He isn't part of the mission. Leave him. Now, c'mon!"
  18. [03:36:19] <consilium> "Uh hey, wait! There's more back there! Y-you're not gonna . . ."
  19. [03:36:26] <Amy> "Don't do that."
  20. [03:36:27] * Marguerite is already gone.
  21. [03:36:52] * Ben_McCormmick chases after her, doing his very best to make sure she does not catch another round with her face.
  22. [03:37:34] <consilium> "Fucking--!" She struggles uneasily to her feet, and makes to run off. She needs to prop herself against the bus to righten herself, but still looks set on running.
  23. [03:38:12] <Amy> "Stop! Stop! I'm not going to shoot you again! I just want to talk."
  24. [03:38:21] * Amy tries to hold her down.
  25. [03:38:36] <consilium> "Fuckin--talk about what?"
  26. [03:39:12] <Amy> "What happened. I'm an agent of NERV. You're involved with the guys that did this, aren't you, Miss Fern?"
  27. [03:42:11] * Marguerite is mildly wary. She doesn't see anything that looks like a sniper's nest, but she also knows she's 14, with no relevant training--she doesn't know if you can shoot through glass and still hit or not. She keeps her speed up as she ranges deeper into the terminal, looking for more signs of life.
  28. [03:42:33] <consilium> The woman widens her eyes in alarm. "How--who the fuck--oh shit you're the first pilot . . ."
  29. [03:44:08] <Amy> "That is correct. One of your comrades shot my commanding officer. An important member of NERV's personnel is here. I was sent to ensure his safety. To my knowledge, you are not an Angel, so I had no interest in who attacked this airport." Her expression grows grim.
  30. [03:44:22] <Amy> "Then one of your people shot someone very important to me."
  31. [03:45:32] <consilium> Marguerite sees nothing but litter and toppled magazine racks, the plaintive shouts of the injured man fading behind her. He -did- say there's more this way. But more . . . -what-?
  32. [03:46:15] * Marguerite swears under her breath and continues. She looks for exits, hiding places, nooks, anything big enough to hide Dr. Morrissette. "DOCTOR!" She calls out, letting her voice echo. She keeps moving.
  33. [03:48:06] <consilium> Fern tries to scuttle backward, shaking her head, some blood smearing around the collar of her black shirt. "Fuck, they said it - oh fuck, what do you want?"
  34. [03:48:38] <Amy> "I want to know if you know anything about a Doctor Morrissette. Besides that, I'm just curious. Who said what?"
  35. [03:49:56] <consilium> "No, I don't know anything about any doctors, they're probably gone!"
  36. [03:51:18] <Amy> "Okay. Then tell me what's going on here. Why you attacked the airport, who's in charge of it. What you did. Quickly."
  37. [03:55:14] <consilium> The woman's face hardens. "Fff, no, fuck you, I'm not saying a goddamn thing!" She spits in Amy's face, setting her jaw.
  38. [03:55:16] * Marguerite waits, forging ahead another mess of meters before trying again. "D-doctor... Doctor Morrissette!" She says. She's tiring rapidly, remembering overtaxed muscles from just -- she can't recall, two days hence? Her boots and skirts are hindrances. "Doctor! It's me! Can you hear me? Doctor!!"
  39. [03:56:25] * Amy wipes the spit away with her sleeve.
  40. [03:57:21] * Marguerite bites back another sob, endorphins waning, the unfamiliar pain of the split in her skull encroaching on her consciousness.
  41. [03:57:29] <consilium> Marguerite and Lt McCormmick hear escalators running dumbly, a clumping sound just behind the downward one.
  42. [03:57:52] <Ben_McCormmick> "Stay back! I'll check it out."
  43. [03:57:53] <Amy> "I wish you hadn't done that. Here's an interesting fact. Before your people -shot her-, I was authorized by my commanding officer to shoot you with intent to kill. I can still do that. I don't think you can run faster than I can get another bullet in you." She hums. "You're losing blood fairly quickly."
  44. [03:58:29] * Marguerite ignores Ben, ranging ahead toward the sound.
  45. [03:58:41] * Ben_McCormmick carefully approaches the escalator, inspecting the source of the sound, keeping the gun in line with his sight.
  46. [03:59:30] <consilium> The woman blanches, awkwardly putting a hand behind her head. "Fucking . . . I--I didn't mean to! I didn't shoot anyone! I just . . . I just pointed the gun . . ."
  47. [04:01:03] <Amy> "Then -why are you here-? Who's in charge of this? What are -you- here for?"
  48. [04:02:24] <consilium> The clumping is a loosened shoe, caught by the lace at the base of the escalator. Something moves behind a large potted tree near a lounge.
  49. [04:03:26] * Marguerite snarls and stomps her way onto the down escalator, looking out over the lounge and the terminal below as she descends.
  50. [04:03:41] <consilium> "I'm here because we had to make a point! Th-they said we had to send a message! I'm here because we need to pay attention! Th-the Angels, why are they called that? They're -Angels-! And -you- people . . . you -killed- one!"
  51. [04:04:27] <Amy> Amy stops, blinks, and just -laughs-.
  52. [04:04:29] <Ben_McCormmick> "Dammit, you stupid bitch!" grunts Ben as he chases after Marguerite, praying whatever is down there isn't armed.
  53. [04:04:55] <Amy> "I suppose you're entitled to your opinion. And "they"? Who are "they", exactly?"
  54. [04:07:01] * Marguerite glances around as the escalator rises, huffing. She's tired. She shrugs Ben's insult off, muttering. "Fils de salope..."
  55. [04:07:20] <consilium> "Th-the Faithful . . . don't you even . . . don't you see what's happening? The whole -world- is a fucking mess! We have to listen!"
  56. [04:08:52] <Amy> "Alright. I'm listening. Tell me who the Faithful are."
  57. [04:08:57] <consilium> There's less litter and fewer dropped possessions on the floor of the second story, but the furniture is knocked over, much of the seating dragged across the floor.
  58. [04:09:51] * Marguerite takes another deep breath. She reminds herself: this is no different than running laps, and damned if she hasn't run laps with a headache before. She calls out. "HELLO! DOCTOR MORRISSETTE!!"
  59. [04:10:16] <consilium> "We're . . . we're faithful! We know that God will tell us what's right! He sent the Angels to punish us, just like he sent the floods and the famine, and the fire! He smeared off half the United States, how much more does he have to do before you listen?"
  60. [04:11:42] <Ben_McCormmick> "You're gonna get yourself shot running around like this! Get behind me!" barks Ben as he chases after the French-Canadian
  61. [04:11:58] <consilium> Over the sound of a television playing nearby - "terrorist shootings"? - a light, furtive dragging sound, something scraping on formica.
  62. [04:12:50] * Ben_McCormmick snaps his neck towards the source of the sound, his eagle eyes scanning for bogies.
  63. [04:12:58] * Marguerite sprints for it, swinging her arms. "THEN LET THEM SHOOT ME!" She pounds her feet, letting out a gasping sob. "D-DOoo.." Her breath fails her, and she settles for locomotion, rushing toward the source of the sound.
  64. [04:13:16] <Amy> "So who ordered this attack? And why would you just shoot up an airport? How does that teach NERV a lesson?"
  65. [04:13:52] <consilium> The counter is quite close, but the sound falls off at the footsteps approaching.
  66. [04:14:16] <Ben_McCormmick> "Get back, dammit!"
  67. [04:15:25] * Marguerite doesn't slow, far from rational.
  68. [04:20:59] * Ben_McCormmick lets out a low roar as he pushes himself to charge at the girl. From a few feet behind her, he leaps, rolling with her to the ground.
  69. [04:24:20] * Marguerite shakes herself free of his advance and whirls, snorting like a dragon scorned. She glares. "Lieutenant!" She hisses, "I have been hit once and did NOT die, you are NO better equipped to avoid a coward's assault--less, with your relative girth--" She leans in, waving a warning finger, speaking very fast. . .
  70. [04:24:59] <consilium> "The Faithful . . . we wanted to make the message clear, even to people too blind to see, we were going to shout in their ears . . ." She speaks as if reciting a liturgy. "We--it's not just NERV! It's -everyone-! No one fucking paid attention and the Angels will keep coming until they do!"
  71. [04:25:28] <Marguerite> "And I will find my Doctor, SIR." She bites the word off in her best Mid-Atlantic accent, eyes sullen. She spins on her heel and glares down the terminal.
  72. [04:26:13] * Ben_McCormmick scrambles to his feet and recovers his weapon. "That little bitch is going to get me killed and then fired."
  73. [04:27:52] <Marguerite> "Chienne? Peut-etre," she growls, intentionally twisting his word, stalking forward again. "I'll be loyal like one."
  74. [04:27:58] * Ben_McCormmick advances towards the information desk, hoping to beat Marguerite to the strange sound.
  75. [04:29:08] <consilium> Something scrabbles under the desk, and then slumping noise, scraping against the linoleum floor.
  76. [04:29:22] * Marguerite throws herself around the desk.
  77. [04:30:32] <Amy> "This is no longer interesting. Get some sleep. It's the last rest you'll have for a while." She stands up, kicks her again, and picks up her gun.
  78. [04:31:21] * Ben_McCormmick charges after her, gun poised to fire at any threats
  79. [04:31:22] <consilium> A stewardess cowers down, then suddenly looks confused as Marguerite stares down at her. "Ar-are they still here?" Her voice is hoarse, and her jacket is dark with blood.
  80. [04:32:05] <Marguerite> "I haven't been shot again," Marguerite mutters. "Have you seen a Doctor? Doctor Morrissette?"
  81. [04:33:13] <consilium> "No, no, I tried to fffind a doctor . . . I couldn't . . . I'm hurt real bad. They shot me!" She chokes back a sob.
  82. [04:33:17] * Ben_McCormmick takes the opportunity to grab the girl by the back of her dress.
  83. [04:34:18] * Marguerite is seized. She spasms, but . . . can't move. She lets her eyes drop closed.
  84. [04:35:15] <Ben_McCormmick> "She said she hasn't seen the doctor. We move! You fucking stick behind me, I'm the one responsibly for your ass!" He says as he drags her behind him, moving from whatever cover he can find, deeper into the terminal.
  85. [04:37:10] * Marguerite lets herself be dragged, and doesn't resist--the better to not slow them both down. "If you will insist on walking in front then I will demand you walk faster," she snaps.
  86. [04:38:57] <Amy> Once the terrorist is done her thing, Amy walksa way with the PDA and starts typing. "Curlinson not okay - Bleeding from chest. Says she was hit with ceramic and okay, think she's lying. Found terrorist. Was given Mjr's gun, shot nonfatally, interrogated. religious thing, anti-NERV propaganda. Believes angels are literal angels. Confiscated gun and wallet, looking for doctor now. Or stay
  87. [04:38:58] <Amy> with mjr?"
  88. [04:39:24] * Ben_McCormmick tugs hard on her dress. "If I let you go, are you just going to run away? Or will you follow me and do as I say?"
  89. [04:39:45] <Marguerite> "If you move fast enough to satisfy me, lieutenant." She is icy.
  90. [04:40:59] <consilium> The chairs, benches, and miscellany seem all to lie in the same direction. Bright spots from where they used to sit show that they've moved a fair distance, probably knocked about in the rush.
  91. [04:41:46] * Marguerite eyes the chairs. "Should we follow in the direction of the crowd on this etag--level, or opposite it?"
  92. [04:42:07] <Ben_McCormmick> "Opposite. The movement was caused by people fleeing."
  93. [04:42:23] <Marguerite> "...I don't suppose there's any chance he escaped."
  94. [04:43:03] * Ben_McCormmick continues to drag the poor girl. "I'm going to let you go. If you try and escape, you're going to fucking regret it."
  95. [04:43:46] <consilium> Amy's borrowed PDA chimes in after several long minutes. "acknowledged. sending support. snipers holding off police, first responders. secure morrissette."
  96. [04:44:05] <Marguerite> "Yes, I'm sure." She tugs herself free, staring at him. It's a challenge. But she doesn't move. "I'll say it again, HURRY."
  97. [04:46:37] * Ben_McCormmick sets a stern pace, his eyes scanning for targets. "Keep an eye out for the doctor, and CALL OUT before you just dart over like a deer into the fucking road."
  98. [04:47:50] <Marguerite> "Sir," she says. It's a tired utterance, only let from her lips because she sees no point in trying to fight him. He's the one with the gun.
  99. [04:48:30] <Amy> "Curlinson and secured terrorist are by bus crashed through wall at -" Amy relays their location. "Needs medical attention when snipers are dealt with. Looking for morrissette now." Amy heads down a nonspecific route. She stops and unloads the confiscated gun, unloads the bullets in the barrel, locks the safety, and carefully pockets it. Then back looking for the doctor!
  100. [04:50:25] * Marguerite resists the urge to jostle Ben into moving faster, trying to focus on observance.
  101. [04:55:18] <consilium> More overturned furniture, much more violently scattered on the floor, and a wet, ragged sound greet you. Someone is trying to cough.
  102. [04:56:17] * Marguerite eyes Ben. "May we approach?"
  103. [04:56:20] * Ben_McCormmick has quit (Connection reset by peer)
  104. [04:56:34] * Ben_McCormmick (Ramengelio@EFBE106C.648C8FC7.240D5AC4.IP) has joined #AEChicago
  105. [04:57:13] * Ben_McCormmick nods. "Right behind me." He approaches the sound, gun raised.
  106. [04:57:35] * Marguerite nearly clips at his heels, craning from behind him to see.
  107. [04:58:14] <consilium> The small sound is behind one of the couches, oddly angled up to a wall.
  108. [04:59:12] * Marguerite prods been anxiously, the pain dulling her frustration.
  109. [04:59:50] * Ben_McCormmick circles around the couch, his gun trained.
  110. [05:00:23] * Marguerite follows close.
  111. [05:00:32] <consilium> Hiding behind the couch is a young girl, maybe ten or eleven. She cowers at the sight of Lt McCormmick, but only lets out a rasping sound as she shrinks down.
  112. [05:02:45] * Marguerite eyes her tiredly. "No."
  113. [05:03:07] * Ben_McCormmick moves in close and places his gun at his side. He brings his hand behind the girl's head and supports it as he tries to sound as calm as possible. "Girl, it is very important you tell me, have you seen or heard of a man named Dr. Morissette?"
  114. [05:03:56] <consilium> Amy can see several prone, unconscious forms, and a wounded woman in a flower-print skirt. She's clutching her ankle, mascara dripping down her cheeks. "They just started shooting people!"
  115. [05:05:14] <consilium> The young girl hesitates, then shakes her head. "I th . . . think I need a doctor . . . Can you pp--please take me t-to one?"
  116. [05:05:30] <Marguerite> "Really, Ben? This is the one you spend your time on?"
  117. [05:06:00] * Ben_McCormmick drops the girl and returns to Marguerite. "You have to at least ask." He presses onwards.
  118. [05:06:19] <Amy> Amy kneels to look the woman in the eye. "I know. It's okay. NERV is sending help. Everything will be fine." She hms. "There's someone else that was hurt waiting for a doctor. You can wait with her, or you can come with me. I'm looking for someone named Doctor Morrissette, but I don't know if he's a medical doctor."
  119. [05:09:35] * Ben_McCormmick has quit (Quit: Leaving)
  120. [05:11:52] * Ben_McCormmick (Ramengelio@EFBE106C.648C8FC7.240D5AC4.IP) has joined #AEChicago
  121. [05:16:41] <consilium> The woman in the flower-print dress shakes her head at Amy. "I don't know who that is. I . . . I can't walk far, my leg is hurt. Where's the lady waiting for a doctor? I'll wait with her."
  122. [05:17:53] * Ben_McCormmick trods on, following against the path of the chairs, hoping to find someone else.
  123. [05:18:18] * Marguerite takes a deep breath. "Do you suppose he was kidnapped?"
  124. [05:18:27] <Amy> "Go down that hall until you see a crashed bus. Watch out for broken glass. You'll pass a younger woman. Do -not- talk to her. She is one of the terrorists. I took her gun and she should be unconscious. She's no threat unless you listen to her. Behind the bus is a heavier woman in a uniform. Wait with her. Tell her Amy sent you if she's awake. When NERV shows up, tell them the First Child
  125. [05:18:28] <Amy> promised you medical care. Do you understand?"
  126. [05:19:32] <consilium> The woman nods at Amy, and struggles up. "Thank you, ma'am. And . . . thanks for . . . all the stuff you do." She hesitates, then goes to the bus.
  127. [05:20:24] <Amy> "Of course. Be safe." Amy continues down the hall, occasionally calling out for the doctor. She still has Curlinson's gun ready, just in case.
  128. [05:23:18] * Marguerite begins to idly wonder if the attack is still progressing. She hasn't heard gunshots. Nor has she been shot . . .
  129. [05:23:34] <Marguerite> "Ben?" She asks. "Any ideas?"
  130. [05:25:18] <Ben_McCormmick> "Not a clue. The chairs were pushed towards the way behind us, that means the crowd rushed that way. That implies they must be this way."
  131. [05:26:18] <consilium> There's muffled shouting in the distance, ahead of Marguerite and Lt McCormmick. Two gunshots echo through the halls.
  132. [05:26:38] <Marguerite> "..." Marguerite dives for cover of her own accord, this time.
  133. [05:27:59] * Ben_McCormmick scrambles for some hard cover. Once he is sure he is not being shot at, he moves from bit to bit, trying to minimize his time out of cover. 'Stay here! I'll call for you when it's safe."
  134. [05:28:26] * Marguerite whines, but nods. Her body is beaten down, her own stamina wearing thin.
  135. [05:28:59] <consilium> No further shots sound out, but it's very obviously past the end of the corridor, a T-intersection by the look. Left, or right?
  136. [05:29:32] * Marguerite peeks, watching him.
  137. [05:29:35] <Marguerite> 1. Discover person using the pronoun "ko'a" (meaning "he, she, it, they, or them") from conlang Lojban.
  138. [05:29:35] <Marguerite> 2. Do some more dancing, yay phonology
  139. [05:29:35] <Marguerite> 3. ???
  140. [05:29:35] <Marguerite> 4. PROFIT
  141. [05:30:32] * Ben_McCormmick has quit (Connection reset by peer)
  142. [05:49:00] * Amy ...keeps walking!
  143. [05:50:37] * Marguerite is now known as jinx
  144. [05:50:41] * jinx (Jinx@wut-B362CA42.hsd1.ca.comcast.net) has left #AEChicago
  145. [05:51:13] <consilium> A frazzled man limps around the corner when he hears Amy's calling. "Hello? Can you help me?"
  146. [05:54:52] <Amy> "Possibly. Who are you?"
  147. [05:57:17] <consilium> The man steps toward Amy and asseses her uniform. "My name is Ray Conner, you're here about the terrorists? They're on the second floor, I think they holed up to the left, by the escalators. I think they have hostages!"
  148. [05:59:53] <Amy> "...Not exactly. I'm just here for Doctor Morrissette. I can try to help, though. How many of them?"
  149. [06:01:12] <consilium> "I don't know, a lot, maybe ten? I heard shots up on the roof, I think they have snipers."
  150. [06:02:12] <Amy> "They do. I'm not sure I can help you."
  151. [06:02:19] <Amy> "How did you get away?"
  152. [06:02:47] <consilium> "I . . . I just ran, in the confusion. I . . . I lost my wife, back there. I don't know where she is . . ."
  153. [06:05:21] <Amy> "I...I'm sorry, sir. I'm one girl with a gun I can barely shoot. I can't take on ten terrorists and snipers single-handedly with any measure of success. NERV is dispatching support to deal with the snipers and get police in though." Amy bwos her head. "You have my sincerest apologies and the wish that they could be enough."
  154. [06:05:40] <Amy> "...Does your wife wear a flower-print skirt?"
  155. [06:08:14] <consilium> "Y-yes, she does, did you see her?"
  156. [06:08:48] <Amy> "Yes. She was shot in the leg. I sent her to wait with someone else that needed medical attention."
  157. [06:09:52] <consilium> "Is . . . are doctors coming? Where'd you send her?"
  158. [06:10:26] <Amy> "Down the hall. There's an unconscious terrorist, she's been disarmed, then a crashed bus, and she should be waiting with a military woman next to it."
  159. [06:11:12] <consilium> "Alright, thank you, ma'am." He heads off as fast as he can manage.
  160. [06:12:10] * Amy sends the commander another text. "Ten terrorists + snipers on 2F by escalators, have hostages. No sign of Morrissette yet."
