  1. Timbuktu is oftenly used to describe a place extremely far away and the word is a part of a myth for most people. In reality Timbuktu is a city in Mali, West Africa, which is situated on the southernmost edge of the Sahara Desert, is it about 8 miles from the Niger River.

  3. Ghana is located on West Africa's Gulf of Guinea only a few degrees north of the Equator. Half of the country lies less than 500 ft above sea level and the highest point being 2,900 ft. The 334-mile coastline is mostly a low, sandy shore backed by plains and scrub and intersected by several rivers and stream. A tropical rain forest belt, broken by heavily forested hills and many streams and rivers, extends northward from the shore, near the Cote d'Ivoire frontier.
