- I would like to propose a system whereby there is no defintion between a core-channel op and a core-op. After a probation period, all operators are given +o in all core channels. Operators are still expected to apply for specific channels, which they have a 'job' of policing, but retain the ability to +o in the rest of the core channels on the condition that it is only used in an emergency (i.e. A user joins -ops requesting assistance in a core channel, for which one of the usual ops is not available). This would allow operators to respect the usual operation of a channel, while greatly increasing the ability of the op team to react to problem users.
- At the moment, we either have to wait for an op in the channel or call staff; There is a clear step missing here - the assistance of one of the many other trusted ops appointed by the IRCC. To be clear, an emergency is something that clearly violates !guidelines and !coc, not a grey area that may or may not be allowed according to the channel.
