  1. The Goldenrod City Game Corner (Arcade Revamp)
  2.
  3. *Instead of slots, the building will be filled with various arcade games such as Skee Ball, Table Hockey, Those Rigged Claw Machines, A Big Trivia game, Basketball Toss, and a game similar to Dance Dance Revolution.
  4.
  5. *Instead of using coins to play and exchange for prizes, the Game Corner will use "Power Cards" that the owner can use to play the games to earn tickets.
  6.
  7. *The Power Cards use a point system and the number of points on the card is equal to the amount of money the user put on the card. For example, if the user put 2,000 poken on the card, the card will have 2,000 points on it. Certain games require more points than others. For example, the Skee Ball game might require 25 points per play while the Dance Dance Revolution game might require 150 points per play.
  8.
  9. *Tickets can be used to purchase prizes at the game corner.

  40. List of Games (with descriptions):
  41.
  42. 1. Spheal's Skee Ball: This game costs 25 points to play. Once the points are entered, the player will get nine Spheal shaped balls. The goal of the game is to rack up as many points as possible by throwing the balls into cups with the number of points written on them. The cups with "200" written on them are in the corners while the cups with "100" "80" "60" and "40" are lined up in the middle. If the player fails to get into any of the cups, they will only be rewarded with 10 points. The higher the player's score, the more tickets they earn.
  43.
  44. 2. Sandshrew Basketball: This game costs 50 points to play. Once the points are entered, a group of five Sandshrew will roll out of the gate at the other end of the basketball machine. The player then throws the curled up Sandshrew and the farther the basket is, the more points the player scores should they get a basket. As the game progresses, the hoop gets farther and father away. The higher the player's score, the more tickets they earn.
  45.
  46. 3. Whack a Diglett: This game cost 10 points to play. Once the points are entered, plastic Diglett will pop up from under the holes in the machine. The player is required to whack the Diglett with the provided hammer to earn points. Whacking a single Diglett will increase the player's score by 15 points. Occasionally, a Dugtrio will pop up and if the player whacks it before it goes back into the hole it came out of, the player will earn 45 points. As the game goes on, more Diglett pop up and will spend less time above ground. The higher the player's score, the more tickets they earn.
  47.
  48. 4. Voltorb Flip: This game costs 15 points to play. Once the points are entered, the player is taken to a screen that features a game that is a hybrid of Picross and Minesweeper. It features a five-by-five grid of tiles, underneath of which are hidden numbers (multiplier cards which affect the player's coins) and Voltorb (which Selfdestruct).
  49.
  50. Flipping a multiplier card will give the player that many coins on the first card, or multiply the total by the number flipped for all subsequent flips. Higher levels have more multiplier cards, therefore producing larger payouts. Flipping a Voltorb will cause the player to lose all coins earned during the current string of multipliers. Flipping a Voltorb also ends the game and drops the player down to the level equal to the number of multiplier cards flipped before flipping the Voltorb (flipping either 0 or 1 will cause the player to regress to level 1). The higher the player's score, the more tickets they earn. Despite the fact that this game isn't as popular as the other games in the arcade, it seems to have a modestly sized yet strong fan fanbase behind it.

  52. History
  53.
  54. According to the owner of the game corner, he says that his wife Peggi bought the building after it had been abandoned for many years due to the passing of a law that banned gambling facilities like the old game corner. When she bought the building, Peggi, with his help, decided to use the building to house an arcade to keep young kids out of trouble and entertained.
  55.
  56. Over the years, the new arcade has had great success and is one of the more popular places to visit in Goldenrod City. However, the owner says that some of the prizes they offer, such as the TMs, have been imported from the Unova region as these TMs can be used over and over again like an HM. However, under Johto law, these types of TMs are illegal due to the false belief that they might scramble a Pokemon's brain and cause permanent damage. Despite this, the owner believes that the law is in place because it makes for good P.R. Because of this, he asks Emily to not tell Peggi about it and Emily agrees.
