Tomb Raider 2: The Grand Tournament

Hi there!

Welcome to the general info and rules regarding the speedrun tournament called: 'Tomb Raider 2: The Grand Tournament' (yes, very fancy I know). The idea for this tournament came from a series of very similar tournaments (one for each tomb raider game) that happened a couple of years ago. Since I really liked the concept of this tourney and loved watching speedrunners compete against each other in this format, I would like to see that happen again. So hopefully, enough people are as hyped as I am to join the tourney and give it their best!


General:

Depending on the amount of participants, the tournament will be held in a single or double elimination format. I'm really not sure yet if people are up for this, so the tournament might actually not go through if there are not enough participants.
Each round will consist of one designated level per duo that will get approximately 1 week of setting the best time for that level. The person with the best time will go through to the next round.


Rules:

- Each player must submit his/her run before the deadline through either a youtube video or twitch highlight. If you do this after the deadline, even though your time is faster than your opponent, you will be disqualified for that round (you might still go through to loser's bracket if the format will be double elimination).
- The video has to be specifically made for this tournament and has to be sent to me or anyone else who might mod this tourney. You cannot submit a video that was uploaded before the time period from each round. (of course, if you get a good time, you can also submit the run to speedrun.com if you like)
- The runs can be done on PC only. The version (german exe, souls, multipatch,...) are runner's choice.
- The run can be segmented, but remember that in-game time will be used. Saving loses seconds... (therefore, make sure you show your IGT at the end of your video)
- You can only submit ONE VIDEO PER ROUND. So if your time got beaten after you uploaded, you will lose the round.
- If 2 players get the same time, the person who uploaded first will go through! (so it can be a strategic move to wait until the very end to submit, but keep this rule in mind when you do)
- The person you verse and the level you will have to run will be randomised. Dragon's Lair and Home Sweet Home will be disabled! (unless people really want to run these levels LUL)
- If both players agree on running another category than any%, just make sure I am informed in time and that both players agree on the chosen category (don't back down afterwards).


Who can join/ How to join?

Anyone can join, but it would be strongly advised to have some knowledge about speedrunning this game when you do. It would be quite unfortunate if you end up against a pro and you don't even know where to start... (Also, yes I will be competing as well :p )

If you want to join, send me (koboltovich) a message via twitch or let me know in the discord server (or let me know in any other way basically). I don't want to wait too long with setting up the brackets, so please sign up before THIS SUNDAY 25th of FEBRUARY 20:00 PM CET (the lottery will be streamed on my channel at 21:00 pm that evening). If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me or anyone else that knows more about the tournament.

List of levels going into rotation for each round (note that each level can be picked for every duo, unless one of the players have had to do that level in earlier rounds. Also for now, this is only a suggestion. This might be altered during the stream on sunday 21:00 pm CET):

Round 2 (levels added to the rotation):
- The Great wall
- Bartoli's Hideout
- Offshore Rig
- The Deck
- Catacombs of the Talion

Round 3:
- Tibetan Foothills
- Temple of Xian
- Floating Islands



I'm really excited to give this a try and I hope it will be a success! Like I said before, I'm really not sure if there will be enough people who want to join but I hope so. In any case, I really wanted to give this a try for a long time, so here it is!
