<i><b>— Barbara Berry St. James. —</i></b> Anunciei ao avançar alguns passos pelo palco, sem deixar que os olhos desviassem do homem que estava sentado entre as cadeiras do auditório, examinando o papel que tinha em mãos. <i><b>— Barbara é uma clara referência ao verdadeiro nome de Barbra Streisand, como pode perceber. —</i></b> E lá estava o meu melhor sorriso a estampar o rosto, aquele mesmo sorriso que venho praticando todas as noites diante do espelho, imaginando o grande momento em que receberei o meu primeiro Tony, assim como minha mãe. <i><b>— Olá Barbara. —</i></b> Respondeu o responsável pelo New Directions, clube para o qual estava prestes a fazer a minha audição. Não que eu duvidasse que seria aceita. <i><b>— O que você vai cantar? —</i></b> Bem, em minha defesa, gostaria de dizer que poderia cantar uma dúzia de canções que se encaixariam perfeitamente naquele momento. Podia me lembrar muito bem das recomendações que recebera em casa - “algo clássico e profundo”, dissera minha mãe, “uma canção enérgica e que deixe claro todo o seu potencial”, sugerira meu pai -, mas mesmo que suas opiniões iniciais fossem tão divergentes, havia um ponto em que se uniam: Broadway. <i><b>— For Good, de Wicked. —</i></b> O anúncio gerou um aceno de cabeça com pouca emoção, deixando claro que aquela pessoa ali sentada não entendia muito da profundidade e extensão da minha escolha, mas eu tinha certeza de que bastava alguns minutos para que fosse tocado pelo poder de um musical da Broadway. <i><b>— I've heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason, bringing something we must learn. —</i></b> Minha voz começou a soar por todo o The Finn Hudson Auditorium, me dando a certeza de que já estava onde queria estar. Os Berry-St. James eram artistas completos com verdadeiro talento e eu honraria  isso agora.
