- Onion rings
- Need:
- 1 to 2 white onions, medium sized (you can do this with red onions but it won't be as good. Pick out the most round and perfect onion you can find)
- Oil enough
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- Two eggs
- 2 cups of bread crumbs
- Garlic salt to taste
- 1/2 can of beer (optional, though Miller Lite is preferred)
- 1/2 cup milk
- Recipe:
- Remove the skin from the onions, before cutting them into even rings about one and a half-inch thick. You want the rings to be at least 2 inches in diameter. Rather than throwing away the onion, though, you can cut it up and use it in scrambled eggs or in salads
- In a bowl, mix one can of beer, one cup milk, half-a-cup of flour, and the eggs.
- In another bowl, pour out two cups of flour
- In yet another bowl, pour out two cups of breadcrumbs.
- Once your dipping station is done, double-bread the onion rings by dipping them in batter, flour, crumbs, batter, and crumbs in that order.
- Let them sit for a minute or two to let the breading harden onto the onion.
- In a cast-iron wok or a deep frier, heat oil to about 350 degrees.
- Fry until golden brown, then place on a paper towel or wire rack.
- Dust with garlic salt and enjoy.
