Alright, US based staff member application. What can you tell me about yourself and your past staff management experiences?

Well, I'm not too sure what you'd want me to tell about myself, but I did do some staffing on several HL2RP servers, as well as on Fallout RP a few years back. I've done pretty much all staff positions from operator to superadmin. I like to think that I do my best to focus on players when I'm staff because it really pisses me off to watch most RP staffs lifting themselves up onto pedestals and demanding worship for being staff, yknow?
So yeah, I like to think I'd be beneficial just in that I'll help players with things some staff would probaby find irrelivant and unimportant.

That's good to hear. I was wondering if you would consider yourself more of the "Taking the initiative/being a frontrunner" type of guy or a "Plan ahead and communicate with others" type of guy.

Depends, I suppose. I probably wouldn't be doing plot-changing events without talking to higher-up folks but when it comes to someone needing a teleport, helping newer players, stuff like that, I'd probably call myself a frontrunner. Like I said, I've seen enough shitty staff teams who don't care about players.

I'm asking this question because there's a very clear distinction between the two. Some staff members really like to be the showman and be there on "the ground" making decisions and pushing forward, ie being more of a leader/decision-maker while others like to plan things on the long term and communicate it out with others
A good functioning staff team needs a bit of both, so being one of the two isn't wrong, it isn't very black and white/

I mean I'm very passionate about my ideas, if that helps at all. If I believe something I'm going to push for it, so if that had to be put into a label it'd probably be the leader/decision maker, but I'm not unwilling to communicate and plan things with other staff members to make ideas better.
I think the two aren't mutually exclusive.

I agree, it isn't black and white. It's a mix of both, some people are more than the other. There's no right or wrong in this.
What would you consider your greatest quality when it comes to administration and your greatest downside? Name examples.

Like I said before I think one of my biggest good qualities is that I care more so about the players than upholding some image of being a high-up staff person, I suppose some people can look at that badly. For example, back when I was staffing in HL2RP I used to leave my own roleplay situations to answer admin calls (that /was/ something that was a practice for most staff, it's kind of dissapeared now adays, though). I'm also very active when it comes to staff work, I enjoy it, I enjoy propping, creating events for people, trying to make the world actually seem like a world.
I think one of my downsides, at least when it comes to being a member of administration is that I'm very libertarian. I'm not really big on authority, at least egotistical authority. There's a lot of people who'll get a staff position and start acting like they're a king, and I'm not really for it. I'm very vocal, as you've probably seen, when I see people doing things I'm not a big fan of. That may come across badly to some people.

I mean to be completely honest I think the deleting of the political chat and subsequent threats to mute people when they even barely mentioned it was kind of shitty, though I suppose it's understandable. When it comes to everything else things seem to be fine.

Some staff members told me the same and I heavily elaborated why I came to that conclusion, I can elaborate on it too to you, if you like. But good to hear that staff operations within the server itself are to your liking.

The decision to create the channel in the first place was Gem's. I always support Gem in all his decisions. However, before you joined aswell, the political chat was used to take the piss out of some political ideologies and it had people complaining to me on PM. It started a train of thought in my head that made me think that we don't need to have political discussions, we're a roleplay community on gmod. Politics isn't our expertise, our specialisation. It was too prone for drama, misunderstandings and borderline rulebreaking.
