  1. METHOD OF ELIMINATION:
  2. The next SBURB session will rotate around the concept of 'a life for a life'.
  3.
  4. All players will pick two to three characters and will roleplay them.
  5.
  6. Two times a week, a roll will be made.
  7.
  8. -The first roll determines the killer.
  9. -The second roll determines who will be killed.
  10. -The third roll will determine method. (Check 'Method of Death' document for info.)
  11.
  12. The 'killer' MUST kill their target.
  13.
  14. IF THEY KILL THEM:
  15. If they kill them according to the required method, they are entirely safe. If they kill them but do not do it in the correct way, they receive a -5 debuff in combat until the next death rolling.
  16.
  17. IF THEY DON'T:
  18. If they refuse to kill the other character, they will die 24 IRL hours after their assignment to kill said character. They must complete the killing within a reasonable amount of time; this can either be 'within 24 game hours' or 'when they are safely and reasonably able to kill the other player/within one IRL week from the assignment'. If they are UNABLE to kill the character within 24 game hours or when they are safely and reasonably able to (CAPS OUT AT ONE WEEK IRL) they die.
  19.
  20. IF KILLER WINS ROLL:
  21. In order to avoid disagreement on who dies and death of the killer, the 'killer' will become temporarily immortal while killing their victim. They can still feel pain and injury, but will regenerate whatever injuries the victim inflicts on them.
  22.
  23. ROLLING SYSTEM AND WHAT WINNING COMBAT ROLL MEANS:
  24. A simple roll of a d20 for turns of both the killer and victim can be made, with the killer having a +5 advantage. If the killer rolls a 20 or above on their turn, the victim dies. If the victim rolls a 19 or 20, the killer dies. All rolls at or above a 10 result in an injury to the other person.
  25.
  26. Rolling is non-optional unless in edge cases to prevent 'gaming' the system/getting a specific character you like the most to survive.
  27.
  28. This ensures that forming relationships is encouraged and helps one's chances of survival.
  29.
  30. FREE WILL KILLING:
  31. If a character decides to kill another character without a kill assignment, they will be on equal ground with the person they are attempting to kill. Both characters will roll d20s. The first character to reach 50 damage against the other character in rolls (rolled 15, 15, 10, 7, 3 for example) wins, or the first character to roll a nat 20.
  32.
  33. BONUSES FOR MULTIPLE ATTACKERS:
  34. Multiple attackers against one individual receive certain benefits:
  35. 1. If it's a mandated killing, both/all attackers roll first against victim. The first individual to roll a 20 kills the victim. If the victim rolls a 20, they only kill one of the attackers, not both.
  36. 2. If it's not a mandated killing, first roll is random. If the attackers manage 50 damage against the victim, the victim dies. If either rolls a 20 against the victim, the victim dies. If the victim rolls a 20, they kill one of the attackers. If the victim manages 50 damage, one of the attackers dies.
  37.
  38. Rolling works exactly the same in a 2v2, 2v3, etc.
  39.
  40. NAT 1S:
  41. Nat 1s in combat mean that:
  42. -Whoever rolled the Nat 1 does zero damage to whoever they were attacking.
  43. -Whoever was rolled against receives +2 to their next roll against the individual who rolled a 1. If the +2 brings them over 20, it doesn't count as a Nat 20/killing blow.
  44.
  45. PRIVATE ROLLS:
  46. The rolls for 'who kills, who is killed, manner of death' are ONLY given to the killer's roleplayer to prevent metagaming.
  47. The rolls will be made in a private channel with two people present for fairness;
  48. 1. The mod (Dez)
  49. 2. Selected member of roleplay
  50. The second member will change every ~week. While members can repeat, they cannot watch over the rolls more than one week consecutively, and need to take week-long breaks between participating again.
  51. This ensures if someone's character is rolled for death, they will be less likely to see that roll, and bias can somewhat be prevented.
  52. After the death has occurred (if it does occur,) mods are allowed to post screenshots of the private channel for transparency purposes.
  53.
  54. SUICIDE NOTE:
  55. Characters may not commit suicide. If they attempt to, they respawn immediately in front of the houses. If your character wants to die, they need someone else to do it for them.
  56.
  57. WIN CONDITION:
  58. The roleplay is finished when half the total number of players are still standing. This means that some may lose two characters if they are playing three, some may lose one character if they are playing two, and some may lose none at all.
  59.
  60. The win condition can be reached at an 'artificially' faster pace if players choose to kill others of their own free will. This is an excellent way of keeping friends or loved ones safe; the game will make it clear that the only necessary goal of winning is for half of the players to be dead. Killing those you don't care for ensures a lower likelihood of your loved ones dying due to simple probability. Half of the players dying will unlock godtier status, and they will be returned to their home universes on similar terms as the first SBURB session.
  61.
  62. CHARACTER COMMUNICATION:
  63. All characters may message one another freely and there will be a memo that characters may speak through.
  64.
  65. ENVIRONMENT:
  66. There will be distinct houses based on the number of characters within the game. Each house can house three players. Players must come to an agreement about who lives where. It is possible for characters to sleep on the floor, sleep in the bathtub, etc if they wish to live in a house with another character that has already reached max capacity--this will not come off well to others, however. The houses will have simple but comfortable bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens, along with a living area complete with working cable (but no internet access or contact to the outside world.)
  67.
  68. The session itself is on two square miles of land. A pool and a poolhouse are near the homes, as well as a bonfire pit and a trampoline. The homes are surrounded by idyllic forests, and a beach is on the very edge of the property. The ocean seems to stretch for miles, but if someone attempts to 'escape' the session by swimming out to sea, the game will respawn them at their chosen home.
  69.
  70. THE AIRING OF DEATHS:
  71. -Free Will killings that are voiced publicly/announced to a LARGE GROUP of players are aired.
  72. -Murders that are voiced publicly in the memo/announced to a LARGE GROUP of players are aired.
  73. These deaths are aired on the Bulletin Board. The names of the killer/s, victim/s, are all clearly displayed before the play-through.
  74.
  75. -The killing blow (the NAT 20 or the 50 damage hit) is displayed and slowed down so that players may observe it closely.
  76.
  77. After the death is aired, the Bulletin Board will post reality show host-esque commentary before going blank and displaying its usual information.
  78.
  79. WITNESSES:
  80. -Any Free Will or Murder killing that has a witness will be posted in the appropriate channel along with the witness's reaction.
  81.
  82. PRIVATE MURDERS AND KILLINGS:
  83. All killings and murders which have not been announced to a large group of players are not aired and are not posted in Roleplay channels unless both players wish to post it.
  84.
  85. CORPSES:
  86. The corpse left from any Free Will or Murder killing remains where it was left, with types of wounds clearly visible, for an hour after its initial discovery. Afterwards, it disappears. Both players come to an agreement on the corpse's appearance, not outright stating clues but instead describing it in a way that is obvious to anyone observing it. Noting that a wound is a slice is fine; CSI-level investigation, claiming to swab the body for DNA, etc is not.
  87.
  88. If the players cannot come to an agreement regarding the appearance of the corpse, a mod may help, possibly with another player if the mod is somehow involved in the death or cannot be a neutral party.
  89.
  90. PLOT POINT: REALITY SELLS
  91. Characters will be informed that their session is being recorded, and live camera footage is available from any point within the game, though the bulletin board assures them only a very small group of people (they specifically list one to fourteen) will view the footage, if anyone ever will.
  92.
  93. This version of SBURB mimics a morbid reality TV show.
  94. It's only fair that certain concepts seem to want to 'boost ratings' and make the 'show' more upsetting or interesting.
  95.
  96. MAKE IT LOOK GOOD FOR TV:
  97. COMBAT BONUSES, IMPORTANT. READ:
  98. -Characters who free will kill previously have a +2 free will kill bonus for all future kills. Doesn't self-stack.
  99. -Characters who enter romantic relationships could have this incentivized explicitly by the game. These characters will earn a +2 to free will kills they carry out in order to protect their loved one. Doesn't self-stack.
  100. -Characters who participate in another character's death either by helping someone kill them during a free will kill only or by ACTIVELY encouraging someone to kill a specific character are awarded a +1 for future free will kills. Does not stack.
  101. -Characters who successfully kill another character receive a permanent +1 to future killing rolls (all types of killing). Self-stacks and caps out at +5.
  102.
  103. *A character cannot exceed +8 in bonuses.
  104.
  105. The romantic relationship bonus and the 'successfully kill another character' bonuses can both be applied to defense rolls (i.e., if John has +3 from having a romantic relationship and killing one character, he can receive a +3 to his defense rolls if someone is trying to kill HIM.)
  106.
  107. Characters will be informed of these benefits, but will obviously not be given concrete '+1 +2' bonus quotes. They'll be informed that these actions will benefit them in combat and help them protect their loved ones, and that they will notice their benefit. The game could even temporarily toggle this increased strength in order to convince them of the truth of this promise.
  108.
  109. WHO CAN WATCH THE FEED AND HOW DO THEY WATCH IT?
  110. The four founders of Skaianet, the four founders of Crockercorp, and the six survivors from the first Sburb session may access these feeds. The method of delivery to founders is unknown; the survivors, meanwhile, will receive a notification on their phone. Their phone will livestream a 'reality show' version of the Sburb session. Though everything happens live, the camera will instantaneously switch to the 'most interesting' scene. Characters may select specific individuals to watch, however, and may toggle their view to any area within the Sburb session. The entire area is broadcast.
  111.
  112. Only these individuals may look at the feed. Attempting to download footage, show it to others, etc will not work. Don't try to look for exploits regarding this rule. There are none.
