mio kishima is a talentless high school girl who wanted to recreate herself. after being bullied throughout middle school, she decided enough was enough. strengthening her resolve, she transformed herself from a quiet, timid girl to a loud, cocky one. she was becoming happier, more secure with herself. then the crash happened. falling into a coma, mio finally woke up 6 months later. forced to stay in the hospital to recover, her only entertainment was her phone and the tv in the corner of the room. then a certain show caught her eye : dangan ronpa. having lost her faith in humanity and forgotten her own purpose for living, this show sparked a fire in mio’s heart. oh, how nice it would be to become a contestant… this show consumed her every breath. when she wasn’t watching the show, she was talking about it to the few “friends” she had. she decided she was going to audition, and she was going to win.

Her personality warped into someone with an unhealthy obsession with winning, with being better than everyone. She will do whatever it takes to prove that she is better than everyone, no matter how vile. Not caring for those around her, she became cruel, someone so hellbent on being on top that she lost sight of who she was along the way. All that matters to her is winning. Losing is not an option.

Writing Sample

The hospitals were hell on earth, a place where sick people go to rot and die surrounded by people they don’t know. Told each day that “you’ll be okay, you’re making progress.” what a bunch of bullshit. The walls oozed with dread that crawled up behind those who least expect it and grab ‘em by the neck, squeezing until their little heads pop. the only way to escape that dread was to distract yourself. Anything would do: tapping your fingers to a beat, biting your nails, playing with your hair, eating the piles of shit they called food. She was no different, staring at the ceiling, watching the film detach itself and inch its way closer, licking its lips as it prepared to lunge. She invited it, opened her door and let the waves of depression crash onto her until she drowned. That was, until a certain show caught her eye. Dangan Ronpa.

Now, Dangan Ronpa was no ordinary game show. No, that is where you are sorely mistaken. Dangan Ronpa was a savior, an angel descending from the heavens wielding a shining spear made of gold. And on this spear was a teenage boy, his insides punctured with the holy tip of the lance. This show gave her a reason to live, a reason to breathe, a reason to eat that fucking garbage they called food. Before she knew it, she was enlightened, born anew with a purpose thrust upon her. The filth retracted from the walls, the slime retreated from the ceiling. The sun. The sun was shining. Shining through those tacky curtains that didn’t match the room and illuminating what could only be described as rebirth.

Breaking through the glass window, she soared through the sky, piercing the clouds, even if her legs were planted on the ground. The wind ripped through her hair and dried her eyes, even though they were closed. On her back were two massive wings with feathers dancing all around her, in place of the scars on her back. Opening her eyes, she said.

“I am Mio Kishima, the next winner of Dangan Ronpa.”

Ufufu... Seriously, seriously, that's pretty difficult... Well, well, I wasn't born a die hard fan of it really, but I guess it would be the one that really got me into the series... Season 33, so amazing and sparkly, set on a cruise ship of all places-- what a mix of luxury and violence! I guess most people would say a death or execution, but... When Tomoe-chan took Aika-chan into her arms, not giving a damn if her clothes were splattered with blood, sharing the deepest, most intense sense of love in the whole world and vowing to protect her...! Oh, I felt it, I really did, I felt my stomach turn and my body shake as I saw the most intense kind of love, the most raw, the most spectacular, the kind you can only see after you face the most despairing conditions...!!! How wonderful ..♡
You are the Blackened. How do you assure your classmates of your innocence?
The blackened, eh...? Well, Tenko is a very likeable and charismatic person, you know! And Tenko would never show how strong she is, or the fact that she knows martial arts, so who would ever suspect such a stupid, ditzy, loveable, and weak girl to ever be the culprit? It's always those ones who are killed, never the killers... Ufu. Men have a complex with girls, so thinking a girl like her would've killed would hurt their pride. Girls love to underestimate her too, so convincing them otherwise doesn't seem too hard.
Why should we cast you in DanganRonpatm : Season 53?
Well... Truthfully, Tenko's applying cause she's certain one of her most special people will be in, and she wants to protect them... Don't misunderstand, Tenko might have that prince act and all, but this isn't it. She's not selfless, and she doesn't have a death wish either, but... If Tenko was left alone, she'd die. There's nothing worse than that loneliness... Nothing, nothing, and she'd wretch over and die so violently and shudder until she gives out completely... A boring death.
But... Tenko can do it, she knows deep in her heart it can happen!! No matter what happens, she'll outshine Tomoe-chan and Aika-chan, she'll show the most vulnerable, pleasurable, incomprehensible love that any viewers who watch will never forget that feeling! Tenko will show it, she'll show true love that only Aizen-Myoo would ever dare to challenge it!

feminine and sweet, chabashira is a stunning image of popularity within the walls of the girls-only highschool. flirtatious and affectionate with both boys and girls, few are spared from her playful teasing and warm doting. considered a “school prince”, she is also the recipient of constant adoration from many of her classmates, the girl doing her absolute best to please those who try to tend to her. seeing her holding love letters, being asked to share umbrellas, and being given homecooked meals is only natural once you enter the bounds of the campus– attention that tenko secretly adores. to secure her popularity, chabashira has adopted a personality that’s a bit ditsy, a bit clumsy, but is difficult to find fault in otherwise, her goal to be seen as a model student in athletics, academics, and appearance. (however, she isn’t actually very booksmart- she relies on others quite often for tutoring as to keep up her image).
truthfully, her personality is much more cruel and harsh underwards, the girl finding no reason not to use her popularity as a possible weapon to harm others. to manipulate and lie, to spread rumors, to cause scenes that put others in harmful lights, all is nessesary to her. loyal to the core, those who harm her few close friends can often find themselves scorned by the rest of their community with no warning, tenko easily planting the seeds that create throbbings of hatred. while she prefers not to dirty her own hands, she can be quick to resort to violence when there is no one of importance of around, often ending her fights with, “tell whoever you want, no one will believe you anyways.”
she lives on her own, chabashira adopting a job as a waitress at a night time bar as to both pay her own bills and send money back home to her family when possible. her parents work in the country and have a family dojo, sending chabashira to the city so she can pursue a better education than what they can give her. embarrassed by this. tenko forced herself to lose any kind of accent and adopt quickly so she has no chance of looking like an outsider. only those incredibly close to her learn about her family.
