  17. [01:50] <@Paradox> It is Spring 30th, and a lousy evening! Joanna and Cress have just managed to get a call out - several wounded mareep entrusted to the daycare clinic have gone missing. Wild pokemon are suspected. Gathered here in the small daycare are the volunteers that have come to reclaim the lost sheep.
  18. [01:52] <Joanna> "Wow. A lot of volunteers today."
  19. 06[01:52] * Jack is here, dressed as usual with a small Eevee by his side, who looks ready for a fight. Jack himself looks concerned, like he wants to know exactly what's going on.
  20. [01:52] <Joanna> "Anyways, four of our Mareep have gone missing... this looks bad for business."
  21. 06[01:52] * Arawn is seated at - and spread across - the top of a table, looking half asleep but still somehow here.  His clothes are still dirty from work, it seems
  22. [01:52] <Joanna> "Darn it, and that was one of our best customers, too."
  23. 03[01:53] * Gents is now known as Cress
  24. 06[01:53] * Joanna rambles on about how it's going to lose her money, while moving beads on an abacus.
  25. [01:53] <Nike> "Don't worry, Ms. Baker," Nike reassured, pulling herself onto the saddle of her trusted Ponyta. "We can find those four."
  26. [01:54] <Joanna> "Yes. Mrs. Baker. Anyways, I found some tracks outside. I can't recognize them, though..."
  27. 06[01:54] * Balthazar is examining the clinic's equipments. "Zut alors! You'd guess zey vould install an electric fence, eh?"
  28. [01:55] <Joanna> "Anyways, I can show you the tracks, if you want."
  29. [01:55] <Nike> "I'm not sure how much good an electrified fence would do for electrified sheep..." Nike mutters.
  30. [01:56] <Jack> "Yeah, you'd want...a water fence...or something," he ponders, then shrugs.
  31. [01:56] <Balthazar> "Maybe charge zem a little,eh? Zap! Zap! Hahaha!"
  32. [01:56] <Jack> "Anyway, anyone here a decent tracker? The tracks would be as good a start as any."
  33. [01:56] <Arawn> "Mmm... would ya...?" Arawn pushes himself up from the table, shaking his head clear.  He seems to recover pretty quickly.
  34. 06[01:57] * Cress comes from next door, yawning
  35. [01:57] <Cress> "... Oh customers!?"
  36. [01:57] <Joanna> "Cress! You're awake!"
  37. [01:57] <Joanna> "No, they're volunteers. They're going to help me with something."
  38. [01:57] <Cress> "... Are they customer-"
  39. 06[01:57] * Ricki . . . Does not look like he's paying attention in the slightest to anything Joanna is saying. He's kinda scrunched up over near the entrance where his Diglett is, trying to poke its nose, only for the Diglett to retreat into the ground each time before he can get it. This is accompanied by an upset "Aww" before the Diglett pops back up . . .
  40. 06[01:57] * Cress blinks
  41. [01:57] <Cress> "... Not interested in them then."
  42. [01:57] <Ricki> This process, possibly interrupted momentarily by Cress' entrance, continues until Ricki is further distracted or has his attention grabbed.
  43. [01:57] <Joanna> "Oy! You're going to join them!"
  44. [01:58] <Balthazar> "Oh, ze amateur medic. Are you helping too, eh?"
  45. 06[01:58] * Cress brushes the hair out of his eyes and then looks at Joanna. "W-wait what!?"
  46. [01:58] <Cress> "And I am NOT an ameteur!"
  47. [01:58] <Joanna> "Yes, you! Gotta make a living, you know! Electricity ain't cheap, you know!"
  48. 06[01:58] * Cress turns to Bathlazar.
  49. [01:59] <Cress> "Will you shush for a minute Joanna!" Cress looks at Balthlazar. "... You're that mechanic aren't you?"
  50. [01:59] <Joanna> "..."
  51. [01:59] <Balthazar> "Hahaha, yeah. Machine making, boom! Eh?"
  52. 06[02:00] * Cress holds out a hand. "Cress, mechanic in training here."
  53. 06[02:00] * Joanna flips open his journal and writes something down on it... about the Mareeps. She flips back a few pages, looking for the traits of the Mareeps.
  54. [02:01] <Joanna> "...weird. They shouldn't have ran away."
  55. [02:01] <Joanna> "I was wondering why the tracks are larger than the Mareeps."
  56. [02:01] <Balthazar> "Did you make a veapon? Best part of being a mechanic is making a veapon, eh? Zap! Boom!"
  57. [02:02] <Jack> "Do you suppose something startled them?"
  58. [02:02] <Joanna> "Possibly. You'll have to examine the tracks yourself."
  59. [02:02] <Nike> "It's very possible. Perhaps One of the machines blew."
  60. [02:02] <Nike> "Boom."
  61. [02:03] <Cress> "I'm more of an inventor than an arms dealer. I did do this."
  62. [02:03] <Balthazar> "Must 'ave been a Houndour or vild. Maybe an explosion than. Boom! Boom!"
  63. 06[02:03] * Cress sends out his COGMAN I mean klink
  64. [02:03] <Joanna> "Now, unless you're here for business, I suggest you go check the tracks."
  65. [02:03] <Arawn> Arawn stretches out for a few moments, then snatched up the scythe he had brought with him - his masterwork, and not one for discussion anymore heads outside.
  66. [02:04] <Jack> "Right, then," Jack is already out the door, looking at the tracks and having Taro sniff along them.
  67. [02:04] <Cress> "... No one needs any healing"
  68. [02:04] <Nike> "Mrs Joanna, we'll be back before lunch time." She pulls the reins of her Ponyta, before snapping them. "Hi-ya!"
  69. 06[02:04] * Cress looks around
  70. 06[02:04] * Joanna nods. "Thank you."
  71. 06[02:04] * Balthazar grabs a strange pistol from inside his suit while heading out with the others. "Going to zap vatever startled them. Or them. Zap! Zap! Pshoo!"
  72. [02:04] <Joanna> "And Cress. I told you these aren't customers."
  73. [02:05] <Joanna> "And don't shoot the Mareep, please!"
  74. [02:05] <Cress> "... I have to help them don't I... Can I charge them?~"
  75. [02:06] <Balthazar> "Vell, it can -stun- zem. Vhich is better, eh?"
  76. [02:06] <Joanna> "...it's not like I can stop you, anyways."
  77. [02:06] <Joanna> "And I suppose that works."
  78. 06[02:06] * Cress hugs Joanna. "Thanks~"
  79. 06[02:06] * Cress gets his medigun and heads out, a spring in his step!
  80. [02:06] <Ricki> " . . . Hey, where you guys going?" Ricki asks as they walk past him (and over his Diglett, which has retreated into the ground temporarily to avoid being crushed), getting up and chasing after those who had already left... For some reason, the Diglett actually follows after... Somehow.
  81. [02:08] <@Paradox> The group walks out to the field, soon coming to a set of strange tracks.
  82. [02:09] <@Paradox> Nike, Arawn - wis checks please~
  83. [02:09] <Nike> In spite of the snap, Nike and Surt only trot along, allowing Nike to get a good look at the tracks. "Hmm. Mareep tracks. Two, three days old," she muses in a strange accent.
  84. [02:09] <@Paradox> (or anyone that has any knowledge related feats can roll those)
  85. [02:09] <Arawn> 1d20
  86. [02:09] <DiceMaid-9001> Arawn, 1d20: 19 [1d20=19]
  87. 06[02:09] * Jack eyes them curiously, Taro already at them eagerly.
  88. 06[02:09] * Joanna follows the group out. "And those are the tracks."
  89. [02:10] <Balthazar> "Vhich means zere are Mareep after zem, eh?"
  90. [02:10] <Joanna> "Quite possibly. But I have to stay here today."
  91. [02:10] <Arawn> Arawn rubs his eyes a little, clearing away some tiredness to get a good look at the tracks
  92. [02:11] <Joanna> "Gotta feed the Pokemon we have left, gotta feed Tom, gotta buy some bread... it's a woman's work."
  93. 06[02:11] * Cress follows afterwards, his iron halberd on his back, and medigun on his side
  94. 06[02:13] * Balthazar juggles a little with a strange glass pineapple shaped device on his hand. Inside of it there seems to be yellow glue. "Time to test these..."
  95. [02:13] <Arawn> "These talons are..." Arawn stares at them, muttering for a few moments, tracing the pattern of the footprints in the soil, then plants his scythe down firmly in the ground to hoist himself back up.  "Good.  I was hoping for some Mandibuzz feathers."
  96. [02:13] <Jack> "Mandibuzz? Hm," he ponders.
  97. [02:13] <Cress> "... What blacksmith?" Cress looks at Arawn
  98. [02:14] <Joanna> "Mandibuzz?" Joanna opens up her journal and reads the info on Mandibuzz. "Hm..."
  99. [02:14] <Jack> (Can Tracker pick up a scent from the tracks alone or will we actually need something from them?)
  100. [02:14] <Arawn> "...You heard me.  Mandibuzz.  Big flappin' vultures."
  101. [02:15] <Nike> "Well, that would scare little guys like the Mareep, that's for sure."
  102. [02:15] <Cress> ".... Hmm... Vultures eh.... Lets go find them~"
  103. [02:16] <@Paradox> Joanna finds her notes! - Mandibuzz: It makes a nest out of bones it finds. It grabs weakened prey in its talons and hauls it to its nest of bones.
  104. [02:16] <Balthazar> "Ze ones viz skull diapers? Zey are really scary alright, eh?"
  105. 06[02:16] * Cress grins as he thinks <... So I can heal you guys.>
  106. [02:16] <Jack> "Makes sense, yes. Anyone have anything from a mandibuzz on them right now perchance? Taro may be able to help if we do. He's got a good nose."
  107. [02:16] <Jack> Jack gestures rather proudly to the Eevee.
  108. [02:16] <Joanna> "Hm... uh... you better go find the Mandibuzz. Quickly."
  109. [02:17] <Nike> "Well, we have a Mandibuzz feather. Maybe he can get the scent of that."
  110. [02:17] <@Paradox> (Anyone else have a mon with tracker?)
  111. [02:18] <Jack> "Right," he gestures to Taro, "Give it a whiff, then, boy."
  112. [02:18] <Joanna> (I do. :3)
  113. [02:18] <@Paradox> (You don't have a mandibuzz feather, Arawn was just saying he'd like some~)
  114. 06[02:19] * Joanna has a serious look on her face. "So, um... get going!"
  115. [02:19] <@Paradox> (Anyway, roll 1d20 Jack)
  116. [02:19] <Balthazar> "Rodan can't smell tracks, but 'e can smell intentions from i've gathered until now. Maybe ve vill need 'im later, eh?"

  122. 06[02:21] * Joanna stays outside, tending to the other Pokemon in the fieild

  124. [02:21] <@Paradox> The little eevee has trouble picking up the scent, but he points east, towards the rocky hills beyond Mt. Iris
  125. [02:22] <Jack> "Beyond the mountains?" he eyes it a bit overwhelmed, "well, if you're certain. Good boy."
  126. [02:22] <Balthazar> "Oh vell, it's not like zey vill eat all ze Mareeps vhen ve get zere. Nom nom nom, heheheh."
  127. [02:23] <@Paradox> (Well, Mt. Iris is more of a really really tall, not a mountain.)
  128. [02:23] <Cress> ".... I want one of those Mareep."
  129. 06[02:23] * Jack quirks a brow at that remark, then awaits the others to advance.
  130. [02:23] <Arawn> "Nah, they'll just snatch 'em up and drop 'em on rocks." Arawn gets going.
  131. 06[02:23] * Joanna is disturbed a little by Bathazar's joke. "Just hurry it up."
  132. [02:23] <Joanna> "And Cress, I'll breed you one later."
  133. [02:23] <Jack> "That sounds like something to ask your sister about, Cress."
  134. [02:23] <Balthazar> (it's just a model)
  135. [02:24] <Cress> "... Done~"
  136. [02:24] <Jack> "See, there you go then."
  137. [02:24] <Balthazar> "Hahaha, drop on ze rocks. Crash! Crash! In any case, it's better to hurry up~"
  138. [02:24] <Joanna> "Anyways, get going! All of you! If anything happens to those Mareep, it's MY reputation on the line!"
  139. 06[02:25] * Joanna is so tempted to kick Balthazar right now, but holds the urge to do so.
  140. [02:25] <Jack> "We'll not let them come to harm, ma'am!" he says with WAY too much confidence than the situation warrants.
  141. [02:25] <Nike> "...If what the doc is saying is true, we've no time to lose." The fact that Nike then urges Surt into a trot rather than a full on gallop says something.
  142. 06[02:25] * Jack follows right behind Nike, rather impressed by her. Wow, she's like...a real knight or something.
  143. [02:25] <Arawn> "So loud..." Arawn mutters, walking at the front of the pack - or as much as he can when Nike can pretty easily outspeed him.
  144. 06[02:26] * Cress keeps following everyone quietly
  145. 06[02:27] * Joanna flips some pages of the journal to remind herself who the Mareeps's owner was again.
  146. [02:27] <Joanna> "Customer log! Here we go..."
  147. 06[02:27] * Ricki continues following after them... He's really close to Arawn, and he keeps trying to reach out for the glowing, shiny part of his scythe, but pulling his hand away before making... Almost pained by the temptation to grab the shiny thing. The Diglett just shakes its head at the boy.
  148. [02:27] <Cress> "So uh remember guys. If you need any healing, just talk to me~"
  149. [02:28] <Balthazar> "Healing don't leave much time for ze hurting, eh? Zap! Boom! Zap!"
  150. [02:28] <Nike> Nike looks over her shoulder to look at Cress. "We're counting on you, sir. But please don't push yourself. Mrs Baker would have a fit."
  151. [02:28] <Arawn> He looks sideways at Ricki as they walk.  "Don't."  Just one word.
  152. [02:29] <Cress> "... Sir?"
  153. 06[02:29] * Cress grimaces. "I-I'm not old!"
  154. [02:29] <@Paradox> Joanna - The Mareeps were the property of Mr and Mrs. Jansen, the local Mareep ranchers and wool suppliers.
  155. [02:29] <Joanna> "..."
  156. [02:29] <Nike> Nike grimaces as well. "I uh...didn't catch your...last...name..." she admits, looking away, her cheeks on their way to getting as red as Surt's flame.
  157. [02:30] <Ricki> "But, but... It's SHINY!" You could see the glow in his eyes as he stares intently at the scythe, possibly a reflection of the scythe itself.
  158. [02:30] <Cress> "... I'm Cress Widdershin. Related to the old lady over there." Cress points at Joanna
  159. 06[02:30] * Balthazar laughs at Cress' reaction "I'm younger zan you. And i'm a full mechanic. Boom! Zap!"
  160. [02:30] <Ricki> Ricki's screaming of that last word would cause all the birds to scatter from how damned loud it was.
  161. 06[02:30] * Cress glares at Balthazar. "... Shut it"
  162. 06[02:31] * Joanna goes on in and writes a letter on a page of her journal before ripping the page out and folding it. "Ditty!" he said, calling to her Ditto, who was copying a Pidgey right now. "Send this over to the Jansens!"
  163. [02:31] <Arawn> "Yes, and I don't want your filthy hands touching it," he cringes a little from Ricki's scream, and trudges onwards
  164. [02:31] <Joanna> The letter is basically her asking permission to breed the Mareeps.
  165. [02:32] <Cress> "You're uh... Your name?" Cress motions to Nike
  166. [02:32] <Nike> "Yes. Yes, the Mandibuzz must know we're coming. It will be an honourable duel for the rights to the Mareep," Nike muses, rolling her eyes over the sound of birds scattering.
  167. [02:32] <Nike> She shakes her head, then looks back to Cress. "Nike Fyron." And back to the road ahead.
  168. [02:32] <Ricki> "Oh-kay..." Ricki sulks along with a sigh, though you can easily tell he's still staring at it, even if he's a little bit further away from Arawn than he was before.
  169. [02:33] <Balthazar> "Do carrion eaters know honoor for starters?"
  170. [02:34] <@Paradox> The group traveling east walk peacefully for a while, passing the grassy and lush hills. You observe a few patrat and watchogs as you pass, all whom retreat into the tall grass as they're spotted.

  172. 06[02:34] * Balthazar keeps himself from shooting the patrats and watchogs with difficulty. If only they weren't so zappable!
  173. [02:35] <@Paradox> Soon the lush grasslands give way to rockier and drier terrain. The rocks become bigger as you go along, and the ground is hard and cracked.
  174. 06[02:35] * Jack keeps Taro pointed on the trail as they move along.
  175. 06[02:35] * Cress keeps skipping along slightly. YOU ALL CAN SEE IT IF YOU WANT
  176. [02:36] <Arawn> Arawn yaaaawns a couple times as they walk, letting the weapon carry its own weight and his a little.  Maybe he shouldn't have come out here, but all the same there's goods to be had.

  178. 06[02:36] * Jack watches Cress skipping a bit oddly.

  198. 06[02:38] * Balthazar watches in amazement the girly man skipping.
  199. [02:38] <@Paradox> Nike on the other hand, spots three fluffy yellow objects high upon a cliff ledge.
  200. [02:39] <@Paradox> The three mareep! The ledge is also littered with various sun-bleached bones .. but you don't see any evidence of mandibuzz about.
  201. [02:40] <Nike> Nike holds her hand up to halt the party, before pointing to the ledge where she spots the yellow fluff balls she's 99% sure are the missing mareep.
  202. 06[02:41] * Cress stops and looks over
  203. [02:41] <Cress> "Oh sheep!"
  204. [02:41] <Nike> "Now now, Cress, this is no time for language."
  205. [02:42] <Balthazar> "You do prance like one, eh?"
  206. 06[02:42] * Ricki does the thing that's most instinctive as a response to seeing a hand go up... He runs over to and High Fives it.
  207. [02:42] <Cress> "... Sh-shut up!
  208. [02:43] <Arawn> "...That's three of them.  ...Bet I know where four is."  Arawn grumbles, and gets a move on, looking for a way up.
  209. 06[02:44] * Jack similiarly looks for a way up, or at least a stable enough way to climb up.
  210. 06[02:44] * Cress follows behind Arawn. "Sure why not?"
  211. [02:44] <Nike> Nike looks at Ricki as though the man had said something curious, before hopping down from the back of her steed, and digging into the saddlebag, producing her bow and quiver.
  212. [02:44] <Balthazar> "Vell, maybe an aerial view should help?"
  213. 06[02:45] * Balthazar lets Rodan out! The Archen jumps and glides around his trainer's head. "Hahahaha, glide, glide!"
  214. [02:45] <@Paradox> The cliffs are very rocky, and getting a good hand/foothold on the way up isn't TERRIBLY difficult, but it'll take strength and flexibility
  215. [02:45] <@Paradox> (ie; roll STR and DEX if you're gonna try and climb up )
  216. [02:46] <Jack> (Both or just one?)
  217. [02:46] <Ricki> "Thought you wanted a high five..." He then watches the other people start climbing up.

  221. [02:47] <Arawn> "...Welp." Arawn slaps the sides of his face a couple times, tucks the scythe into the back of his clothes as best he can, and leads.
