  2. 6.9. All elections for positions where there is only one vacancy shall be conducted under the Preferential Voting system where:
  3. 6.9.1. Voters rank the candidates in order of preference by marking candidates 1, 2, 3, and so on;
  4. 6.9.2. To win a candidate must have greater than 50% of first-preference votes cast;
  5. 6.9.3. The candidate with the most first-preference votes might not have more than 50% of the total votes cast. In that case, the votes for the candidate with the lowest number of first-preference votes are redistributed according to the second preferences of the voters for that candidate. Redistribution of preferences continues until a candidate attains more than 50% of votes cast;
  6. 6.9.4. An option of re-open nominations will be provided and ranked as with any other candidate;
  7. 6.9.5. Any preferences indicated below re-open nominations are not transferable; and
  8. 6.9.6. In the case of there being only one candidate, that candidate must attain greater than 75% of votes cast to be elected
  9. 6.10. All elections for positions where there is more than one vacancy shall be conducted under the Single Transferable Vote system where:
  10. 6.10.1. Voters rank the candidates in order of preference by marking candidates 1, 2, 3, and so on;
  11. 6.10.2. To win, a candidate must receive a minimum number of votes which equals the total number of valid votes cast plus one, divided by the number of vacancies plus one;
  12. 6.10.3. Any candidate who receives more than the minimum number of first-preference votes is elected. If vacancies remain, the first-preference votes received by the elected candidates that are above the minimum required for their election are redistributed according to the second preferences. The redistribution starts with the largest surplus of votes;
  13. 6.10.4. If there are still vacancies after the distribution of surplus first-preference votes, the lowest-polling candidate is eliminated and all that candidate's votes are redistributed in line with the voters' second preferences, and so on. Any surplus votes from an elected candidate that were transferred to the lowest-polling candidate are redistributed in line with voters’ third preferences;
  14. 6.10.5. If no candidate receives the minimum number of first-preference votes, the lowest-polling candidate is eliminated and all that candidate's votes are redistributed in line with the second preferences of the voters, and so on;
  15. 6.10.6. An option of re-open nominations will be provided and ranked as with any other candidate;
  16. 6.10.7. Any preferences indicated below re-open nominations are not transferable;
  17. 6.10.8. If re-open nominations is elected as a candidate then all other candidates are eliminated and any remaining vacancies (including the position held by re-open nominations) are left vacant;
  18. 6.10.9. In the case of there being only one candidate, that candidate must attain greater than 75% of votes cast to be elected;
