  1. Metal Jail Cells in my Mouth
  2. Have you ever entered your parents car expecting to go somewhere wonderful, like a dog in the car thinking he is about to go the park only to realize the real horror that was approaching at an alarming rate, that’s how I felt when I got my braces. At first I thought the braces were going to be completely terrible but as I continued to have them on showing a lesson in having them.
  3. It was January 2015 Rolesville Middle School, I was doing my mindless work in 8th grade english brutally slaving away when suddenly I hear the Siren’s call known as the phone near the teacher's desk, at the time I didn't know I was being called to the office so I knew to give up hope at the time but then the teacher had said my name and then I was suddenly filled with energy to leave my class. Once I appeared near the office I was greeted by my mother and then we headed to the car, I had thought it was going to be a simple journey home but it was anything except that. I had only realized we were not heading to the home base after 10 minutes of driving towards an unknown destination, suddenly fear had come over me when I had realized the destination. My mother was unaware of the fact that she was sending her child into a blazing inferno of pain, she should've learned the mistakes from the first one. We have arrived.
  4. I entered the office only to have a sudden cold wash over me like a tidal wave about to destroy a city. I had given the attendant my name and she told me to sit and wait. Then suddenly, I hear the high pitched squeal of a dental drill which in my mind only indicated one thing, pain. It had been a solid 20 minutes until my name was called, it was terrible making me wait for such a large and painful responsibility. I was a sailor forced into following the Siren’s call. While I was walking I smelled the distinct smell of bubblegum fluorine. I was sat in a pleather chair where they examined my mouth with cold metal instruments, the taste of the metal in my mouth was terrible but I was forced to stay still so the dental surgeon can operate. It had been 15 minutes as they put individually each tiny little piece to hold the wire which twisted and moved my teeth around. 30 minutes have passed and they finally finish like Dr. Frankenstein revealing his creation, the chair moved upward slowly to show Frankenstein’s monster. Pain had entered my body like an uninvited guest thinking they belong in someone’s home. I was hauled into my car, I was very hungry yet I couldn’t eat, the pain just kept coming and coming. I had not been able to chew any solid food of what kind, only being able to eat soft foods like applesauce. Fast forward 2 years later braces are still on waiting to come off, the pain is nothing now but still these metal jail cells are stuck in my mouth for whatever reason, I wait for my fate whether or not I keep these braces on only hoping they get off.
  5. I persevered through the pain that was brought by the braces and I still wait, my patience is being tested and it seems to never stop but I will not give up because I know the fact that the metal jail cells will come off except I do not know when.
