  1. A side-note for the reader: The reason I never write anymore or hardly at all is because I will never finish my works. That is why I probably have so many "long lost writings," even though I've never posted them. I haven't touched this specific work in slightly over a year, but did a minor refurbishment to remove any grammatical errors or sentences I just wanted to touch up. The funny thing is I can actually write better than this now, as I can tell when I compare the sentence I may have added to the work as a whole. Anyways, enjoy.

  4. *Nireal means (as I remember, I wrote this over a year ago and forgot about it) a certain group of galaxies.
  5. Background: Selena (Colonel Morgan, Overseer of Earth), born on Kaiyoto and given Earth human DNA at a few months old, she finished most of her training and schooling at age 7 (approx. 42 Earth years) and was beginning to learn her father's trade when an attack on her home happened and her parents sent her away to another planet. However, instead of making it to her new guardian, her shuttle crashed on Zarfor, a planet ruled by the tyrant Zarin. For a month she struggled to live in Efitaphk, the capital of the planet. However, because she could not speak the language, she was lost and nearly starved to death. People feared her for her strange Kaiyotian appearance, and some tried to kill her. One day, Zarin was walking the streets when he saw her tied in the public square about to be burned alive. He quickly stopped the riot, recognizing immediately her appearance as belonging to the wealthiest bloodline in the nireal. He released her and took her to his castle, where he welcomed her. However, she could not remember anything about herself or her family. When Zarin told her she could change forms and disguise herself as another life form, a human, she did so immediately, hating her Kaiyotian self for all the misfortune it had caused her. But Zarin insisted that she use this only when he requested. Zarin decided to place a binding curse on her and taught her how to use dark powers, naming her Zena in the process. However, he did not inform her that her native form was Kaiyotian. She stayed with him for 3 Kaiyotian years (18 Earth), slowly regaining her memory of herself but still little of her heritage. During that time, Zarin taught her military tactics and made her one of the head generals in his army. However, Selena (Zena) hated the injustice he conducted towards his countrymen, and after discovering a plan to execute a genocide on a notoriously rebellious group of people, fled to another planet. However, the binding curse was killing her due to her lack of obeying Zarin's orders, and she was told to go to Earth to find help from a boy named Orion. After arriving at Earth and her curse being mostly nullified by Orion, she continued to stay there till she decided to join the fleet. She could still wield and use dark magic, though, and occasionally the curse would try to escape its bindings and consume her. After meeting Orion, she mostly disguised herself as a human who knew of the realms, and she slowly rose in ranks. After three years, she was chosen to become the water element protector of Earth, a project the fleet had been working on for some time, due to her natural ability to wield it (Orion was chosen as the air element just before her). While on Earth, Orion gave her the name Selena. She was promoted to colonel and worked on many military operations shortly thereafter, inciting Orion's comment that she was the fastest one to be promoted like that he had ever seen. One day, she arrived on Kaiyoto for a special mission and began to have a slight remembrance that she was Kaiyotian. She firmly realized that her true, natural form was that which she had ostracized long ago while in league with Zarin. This was confirmed by the striking resemblance the Kaiyotian people possessed in relationship to hers. She continued to use her human form, however, just out of sheer dislike for the other due to past experience. But on the day that she attended a meeting with other high ranking military officials discussing cloning operations, she knew everything about the cloning industry, and also remembered being told some of the secrets of the trade.

  8. "Yes, the fate of the industry is surely good. We will rely on your services for much of our main military forces. We may even replace some officers with them," one of the military representatives said.
  9. Selena knew that there was something wrong with that. There was a disadvantage in the clones' genetic structuring that prevented them from fulfiling any major independent thinking. They were designed to take orders, not to create them.
  10. From the other end of the room, Hamui, the wealthiest businessman in the nireal and owner of the largest company in the cloning industry, felt slightly nervous at the thought. However, it appeared to Selena that the officers clearly were unbeknownst to it, as he simply made this slight twitch in one side of his mouth. How did she realize that was what he did when he was nervous?
  11. "Indeed, we should. Hamui, I think we should place this order now, since the rebels are not waiting. We'll start with 950,000 to be officers, and our usual placement for enlisted ones," a general chimed in cordially.
  12. No! She thought. This will be a disaster!
  13. "No! Stop!" Selena said urgently.
  14. "Clones are structurally flawed when it comes to planning and intuitive processing, they're specifically designed to take orders! Their minds are not capable of creating commands for large groups of men, it will ruin the military! It is a disadvantage the cloning industry has been attempting to eliminate for years. It was a design flaw that surfaced in the early age of the industry, and something that can only be fixed through long-term research. Plus, Hamui and the others barely even know what causes it. I'm telling you, don't do it!"
  15. The room was silent, all eyes staring at her.
  16. "Where did you get that information? Only people in the heart of the cloning industry know about how a clone's mind is structured. The military didn't tell me they had a scholar in that field before-" began Hamui, but he was cut off by General Wayes.
  17. "Colonel Morgan, how do you have to nerve to openly debate this gentleman's invention? Your report never stated anything about your knowledge in cloning."
  18. Selena was silent. What could she say?
  19. "Mr. Hamui, please excuse this girl. Maybe she was right, but you shouldn't listen to what she says, she knows nothing about the industry. Shes from Earth, she knows nothing in the first place." All the officers laughed at this, but Hamui was quiet. He continued to stare at her. But Selena did know. She could not be embarrassed by this, it would be a disgrace for her.
  20. Then, a loud boom reverberated through the hall into the meeting room. An alarm sounded, and each officer was up on their feet.
  21. "Whats going on?" General Anng shouted over the screech of the alarm.
  22. Gunshots roared in the hallway, and men were shouting. Then, a group of darkly dressed men poured into the room.
  23. "Put your hands on your head and stand facing that wall!" the one in the middle shouted. They all got up and quickly walked to the wall, doing as instructed. Hamui was beside her, still looking at her. For the first time she noticed how his eyes glowed a shiny, blueish white. Exactly like hers. He had short trimmed hair that had the color of metallic silver, and his pale skin had that faint glow, just like hers. The whole time Selena had been in Kaiyoto, the only time she had seen those physical traits were on television, or in magazines advertising the rich and famous. But they looked a bit different, they were always missing at least one trait. The eyes were never that exact pigment as his, as hers. Most of them didn't have that glowing to their skin, either, but she generally presumed it was the way their appearance was displayed. Could I really be related to this person? She thought, a faint memory inducing the thought. She was glad she was in her human form, because she was actually feeling a little uneasy.
  24. The alarm stopped, and more darkly dressed men entered the room. The rebels, she thought. Then, another memory suddenly came. The rebels coming into her house, somebody taking her away through a secret underground passage. Even though in that memory the man she saw was standing facing opposite of her, he had that silver hair.
  25. "We've got orders saying that all of the people here besides Hamui are to be killed. Now."
  26. They grabbed the first one in the line, and forced him down on his knees.
  27. "No! Stop it!" Selena screamed.
  28. The men paused, looking at her.
  29. "On second thought, kill her first. I don't want to here that childish whining."
  30. The men threw the man they were about to kill back in line and grabbed her. Her heart pounded as they dragged her to the executioner. I have to do it. I have to transform.
  31. White and blue aura exploded around her, and her Kaiyotian form became clearly visible, appearing in her legendary armor. She broke free of their grasp and pulled her dual daggers from their sheathes. She jumped behind the executioner and stabbed him with her left dagger, the waves of light blue aura consuming him. He screamed, but turned instantly to ash. The other men uniformly screamed in response, running for the exit and shooting wildly at her. But ice crystals formed around her, absorbing the bullets. They began to run through the door. They will not escape! she shouted in her mind. Sharp skewers of ice shot up through the ground, spearing the chests of the men, and then they stooped motionless on them.
  32. The first one to do anything was General Wayes, who walked towards her slowly, clapping.
  33. "Hm. I guess I didn't read that in the report either. Perhaps we should listen to your advice on cloning. Let's leave this bloodbath and find a nicer meeting place and pick up on where we left off tomorrow. Does that sound good to everyone?" People nodded silently in approval, and Selena removed the wall of ice she constructed that blocked the door. She quickly glanced back at Hamui, who was sitting up against the wall. It was hard to tell if he was horrified or ecstatic. She was the first to walk into the hallway and out of the building, with General Wayes in close pursuit.
  34. "That was a very surprising array of skills you displayed back there. That outfit looks stunning on you. Why did you not tell the fleet you were Kaiyotian? And again, that armor looks custom fitted, extremely high quality. Something you could only find here on Kaiyoto. But I thought you said this was the first time you've been here."
  35. She looked down at the floor. Things seemed to be getting more clear in her memories, but not in reality.
  36. "I didn't get this armor. I've always had it. And..." she walked outside the base and stopped, turning around to face him.
  37. "I didn't know I was Kaiyotian, either."
  38. She walked away back towards the city to go and eat lunch. The roadways were scattered with the dead bodies of soldiers, but most were wounded. Some soldiers who had survived the attack ran up to the other generals. The rebels were still here, and they'd come back. But she didn't want to deal with them now. She just wanted to run away, run away from all these problems, and go back to the way things were. But when were things as they were? As she walked down the main street, she noticed how unnaturally quiet it was. Maybe the fleet had evacuated the city. Hamui was trying to run to catch up to her, it was time to find out the truth. She stopped, and Hamui walked up beside her.
  39. "Is it really you, Naara?"
  40. "I don't know. I can't remember my original name. So far I've been called Zena on the planet Zarfor and Selena Morgan on Earth, but I guess another name wouldn't be too hard to remember."
  41. "Do you remember me?" he looked at her, eyes slightly wet.
  42. "Vaguely."
  43. "What do you remember?"
  44. "I remember what I was taught, and some of the things people told me. I remember some people, but I don't know their names or who they are. I don't really remember my past family heritage and who I was."
  45. "Come with me, quickly. I'm the reason they're here in the first place anyhow, so walking in the middle of the street in an abandoned city is making me a sitting duck. I know where we can hide."
  46. He called his shuttle to take them to his home, located half way across the world in the cliff covered shore of Atarik. He showed her into his home, a large, white mansion. He opened the doors and called through the house in a language she had not heard in a long time, "Lenna, come here. You must see this." There was silence, and then a loud reply, "I'm busy right now." Hamui grabbed her hand and led her up the great arching steps. He brought her into a huge bathroom, and her reflection waited patiently for Lenna to look up and notice. It did not take long for her glance to transform into a stare, as with Hamui. She slowly stood up from her chair, where she had been sorting a variety of make-up into different bins, and looked at Selena.
  47. "Naara?" she said, voice cracking. Lenna ran up to hug her, shaking slightly.
  48. "How did you find her?" she said to Hamui.
  49. "At the meeting."
  50. They all proceeded to sit down in the just-as-big living room, where she spent two hours telling them all that had happened after the time she lost her memory. About the horrible month on Zarfor and the time she spent as an apprentice and daughter to Zarin, and the learning of dark magic. She told them about how she served as one of the top military leaders to him, and how he gave her a curse to try and prevent her from escaping. Then she went on to fleeing to another world, but chose quickly to go to Earth in search of Orion who could reduce its affects, which were killing her. She said she continued to stay on Earth, but then joined the fleet to serve as an officer. She finished by telling them of how she was chosen to be the water element in the overseers of Earth, and her training in that. By the time she finished, the sun had begun to set, and dinner was about to be served. Her parents were deeply saddened beyond any possible measurement. They ate dinner with her, and asked that she stay for the night.
  51. "I know it might seem weird, but you are our daughter and you should get to know your own home." Hamui would say. Selena didn't like this, nor was she very excited at being called Naara all the time. She was worried, too, that she would have to resign from the military and give up being Overseer of Earth. Hamui led her into a bedroom that seemed extremely familiar. It was painted a deep navy blue, and for the first time in her remembered life she felt at ease. Nothing could harm her here. The bed stood facing a window, overlooking a vast sea. Now more memories continued to flood back into her mind, memories of diving off the great rocky cliffs into the booming ocean, soaring back up on great pillars of ice. Happiness was what she remembered. The graceful way the ocean displayed its vast power to the land. The sound, oh, the amazing sound.
  52. "This is your room. We never changed it, not one bit, since you left. All your possessions that were kept here when we sent you away still remain in the same exact drawers. Since you can't remember what happened to your shuttle and what caused it to crash, I guess it will all remain a mystery to us. But even though we thought you were dead, we refused to change anything in the room hoping you may come back. I'll be talking with your mother downstairs if you need me. I'm not sure what to do now. If your a colonel in the fleet and an overseer of Earth, I highly doubt you'll want to resign and stay here with us, or even if you're able to. Although we don't strongly approve of you in the military, either. There are better things you can do now. We won't discuss this right away. I just want you to get used to this place again, and the first thing we need to do is regain your memory."
  53. He left the room and descended the steps, where she could here the faint conversation between her father and mother. She didn't want to leave this place, either, but she didn't want to resign from her current position. But she did want to continue her studies; it had been a lifelong ambition that she had only just recently rediscovered. What do I do now? She thought.
