  1. The movement from silence to language helped Patrick understand foreign language and his inner self. Language is a kind of communication that humankind need to have to live and express themselves to others , can be oral, physical or visual . Communication is vital for the survival of human beings and if he/she is not able to communicate his thoughts get cloistered and it is detrimental to the overall confidence of the person. A simple example is if you go to another city or country and migrate, as a stranger , everything will become harder and the person might not understand the life style or the language that is being spoken if it happens that you are forced to stay there for a long period of time and as you have no body to talk to, all your thoughts will have an impact only on yourself and these impacts will have severe repercussions on your health. Some people might have a weak personality and don’t communicate well like others , this is probably how the type of person is . The book “In the Skin Of A Lion” by Michael Ondaatje , you can see the main character Patrick Lewis , as a young kid , looking out at the world out of his window , he had no knowledge of the world and did not know what is happening around him , that is from the lack of learning resources that he did not have and could not afford , but he had imagination he studied different bugs and gave them names. His desire was not to go into silence, but to break from it. As a lonely man searching for love, his identity and light, without having these elements Patrick lacks love and would not be able to survive the world.
