The only alternative company that I use is PirateShip.com.  While I find
their interface a bit clunky for volume shipping, it works nice for
occasional use and their Simple Export rates are very good.

I went to PirateShip.com website and fail to see any big savings. I already use the most cost effective USPS rates. Where are the savings they tout?

Do you think Stamps.com is better than Endicia/Dazzle? Endicia stores all addresses mailed to and keeps other records. Admittedly a bit glitchy but usually works OK.
A nice perk is that their search engine actually works for finding anything that went into the mail stream.

stamps.com and endicia are in effect the same now -

stamps bought endicia -

however, endicia is still supporting macs - even though every version is
called "beta"   now on beta 781 - so for mac users it is the only
desktop application available

the website still says  in response to "does stamps.com work on Macs?"

to me, one of the big pluses of using endicia on our desktop versus
(free) web-based options like paypal, etc, is that all of the info is
stored on our computers for easy access

PirateShip.com was the availability of bulk international rates.

You are correct, I use Stamps Online. However, I have recently started using eBay for some some of my sales there and I have been seeing considerable discounts over Stamps. Unfortunately it only works with sales on that site.

From what I have read there are a few Ebay destinations where there are greater discounts but only a few. The few times I have tried Ebay shipping the charges were horrifically higher including tariff handling fees, etc. But I haven't tried it in a couple of years so things may have changed.
Would anyone else care to weigh in on this?

I only tried it once or twice - priority mail is (or was) cheaper on
eBay  - but the quoted shipping time was longer!!  4-5 days instead of 2
or 3..... so I decided it wasn't worth saving the few cents -

their global shipping seemed to work fine - just as biblio's assendia
program does - but I don't know how much they charged buyers -
