This isn't true either. They have healthy endocrine and central nervous systems, functioning amygdala and everything else. What they don't have is much in the way of normal human emotional development, because they mostly didn't get any personal memories from the original volunteers. They essentially were "born" as immortal adult fully trained and combat ready special operators with skills but no memories. Now they are discovering what it means to be them. Certainly they have emotional responses in the works they appear in (including this one), they just often react to things in ways that are strange.

One thing about their emotions (not necessarily relevant here but as an observation) is that they are transhuman and they know that. They aren't dutifully struggling Pinocchios yearning to become real boys and girls. They are new beings exploring what it is to be them. This is pretty central to their thematic role in 3rd Law.
