Found as a hatchling at the base of the mountain he now calls home and adopted by the clan matriarch, [url=https://flightrising.com/main.php?p=lair&id=514061&tab=dragon&did=59043802]Shadow[/url], Smokey struggles to live up to his adoptive mother's expectations. She believes his markings are from the Windsinger himself despite Smokey being a fireborn dragon. He hides his elemental nature from the rest of the clan with his goggles, ashamed that he might not be as gifted with wind as his mother believes.

Some, namely his mother, might say that Smokey is too shy and needs to toughen up. On the other hand, someone with a working knowledge of psychology might suggest that his anxieties stem from the crushing weight of her expectations.

In spite of his fraught relationship with his mother, Smokey takes comfort in his other familial relations. He does his best to be a good elder brother to his sisters, [url=https://flightrising.com/main.php?p=lair&id=514061&tab=dragon&did=59159171]Wisteria[/url] and [url=https://flightrising.com/main.php?p=lair&id=514061&tab=dragon&did=59159173]Jacaranda[/url], but to the outside viewer, he might not seem like the eldest. Smokey is one of Wisteria's favorite targets for her pranks, while Jacaranda is a very protective sibling.

Another source of comfort for him is his familiar, a worn and well-loved doll that he has kept with him since he was found as a hatchling. Strangely, the doll is always warm to the touch. It's likely that the warmth of his doll kept him alive in the snowy conditions he was found in as a hatchling. Privately, Smokey suspects that it might be alive but he can't be sure that he isn't just projecting onto it. Alive or not, the doll acts as Smokey's confidant. Talking to the doll eases his anxieties greatly. Embarrassingly, Smokey has been caught speaking to the doll by his family several times.
