Most of the people that I know started to write on medium. The number is increasing day by day. First, I didn’t pay a lot of attention on it, but when the time past, I also wanted to write one. But the same time I get these thoughts “ Why should I do what everyone else does?” “Why should I go with this flow?” But then I realized most of our achievements are created because of going with the flow. Now lets talk about how it works.
To create something new there must be a beginner. A person to start it. As an example, in 600 BC a Greek philosopher Thales found static electricity by rubbing fur on substances like amber. Then that idea needs to be followed and reached by more people. But for Thales people didn’t follow his invention until 2,000 years latter, because of lack of tools and technology. So in the 16 th and 17 the centuries people started to follow his ideas which led to create new inventions like switchers, relays and transistors. Now we have computers, cars, GPS. And the technology is still developing. But if no one followed Thales’s idea, maybe we won’t even get this far. Maybe we are still using heat or animals to make things move. So, most of the Ideas need followers to develop and become greater.
Is going with the flow is a great idea ?
Imagine after Thales’ invention everyone started to rub amber on fur to go with the flow, but without the desire of finding why it is happening or what we can do with it. Will the technology develop as it is today? Probably not, because no one is thinking to create something new but just doing for the sake of doing. So going with the flow is only be a great idea if you know what you are doing. You must find the answers for the questions like “why should I go with this flow?”,“Am I going to make this flow bigger? “, “Am I going to change this flow?” or “I’m I just going it because of everyone else does?” If you are going with the flow because of everyone else does maybe you must start to use that time find something you like and create your own flow.
