  1. Light droplets of rain trail down the front window, rumbles of thunder rolling in the distance. The weather had grown cold, its bite grabbing at her heels as she traipses up the wooden stairs. Hair only slightly dampened, she finds shelter within the warm cabin, a mahogany door opening like a warm welcome. The normal scent of fresh baked bread greets her nose, a stark contrast to the icy outdoors.

  3. The house was nothing to marvel at, yet it was more than enough for her. Nestled amongst miles of foliage, the only access point was through the thick forest or a winding dirt path that was rarely traversed by the introvert. 20 minutes south led to a small podunk, an insignificant place on a map. It wasn’t the most expansive place; home to a single fresh market, library, and a multitude of tiny shops lining the Main Street.

  5. 106 Crow’s Nest Drive had been her dream. It was a two story cabin constructed from sturdy logs that once found their home in the surrounding forest. Upon entrance, one’s bare feet will meet a welcoming rug of faux lamb fur- usually accompanied by a snoozing dog awaiting for someone’s arrival. Work boots and an array of shoes sit in an orderly fashion underneath a tiny table.

  7. The decor was extremely rustic, most of the furniture hand built with love. The kitchen consisted of numerous shelves, home to various jellies, jams, exotic coffees, jars, and collectible mugs. A hand crafted table with two wooden chairs reside near a massive window, currently open to the elements. Tiny pots with varying succulents and mushrooms decorate the windowsill.

  9. A polished set of stairs leads up to a second story, appearing more loft-like than anything. Fairy lights line every corner of the room, a soft glow adding to the ambiance. The focal point of the room was the four poster bed in the middle of the room, a great number of pillows and blankets neatly arranged. A single wall of the upstairs was completely glass, facing the end of the bed. One could look out into the darkness and watch nightfall, along with the swaying trees and the common fauna. When craving privacy, it could be easily concealed with a set of drawstring blackout curtains.

  11. Outside in what was considered the backyard, a smaller, even more rustic structure resides. It serves as a workshop and an artist studio for when the small family felt a creative inkling. Also lined in fairy lights, it is mostly illuminated by a concentrated lamp and a few separate windows. Painting and drawings are hung on the walls along with more handmade crafts- a homey feeling was obvious the minute you stepped in there.
